This sandwich was SO good! The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the chipotle remoulade tasted amazing. You can put that sauce over anything and it would taste good. This meal was very rich and fattening but it’s nice for an occasional treat. I definitely wouldn’t be eating this every day!

The restaurant is super popular so if you’re going during lunch, you better arrive early otherwise you’ll be waiting for a while. They’ve expanded their dining room but every table gets filled. I had to sit at the front counter the last time I went. I don’t mind that sort of thing, especially for lunch and the people next to me were friendly enough and unobtrusive.

I’ve never had the Maui Zaui, but omg, it was darn good! I don’t usually order pizza from chain restaurants unless I’m super starving and feeling really poor (hehe). There are just so many great pizza places in San Francisco – think Delfina Pizzeria, Little Star, Patxi’s, Ragazza, etc. I feel a little guilty that I enjoyed this pizza so much. The crust was on the thinner side and it was jam packed with all my favorite toppings! Noms!

The food at Kasa is very comforting to me. Everything packs a punch of flavor, it fast, convenient, and relatively inexpensive. I’ve loved their kati rolls since the first time I tried them. The buttery roti is amazing and the fillings are SO tasty. I always get mine with extra hot sauce in the roll and extra raita on the side. The perfect amount is one and a half rolls! One roll is too little and two is too much. Darn, hehe!

When I took this pics, I was on my way to meet Hubbs for drinks. It was dark outside and I sat at the side counter where they have these yellow lights beaming down on you. The walls are also painted yellow so parts of the restaurant are just saturated in yellow. It made for some interesting pics.

Yet another soup that was served luke warm! Was this suppose to be served that way? I like my soups HOT! If they’re too hot, then I’ll just wait a couple minutes for them to cool down, but I enjoy them so much more when they’re able to warm my stomach, literally! This soup was OK. Not sure why it’s on the 7×7 Big Eat list. There are plenty of other soups out there that have more flavor (and are served piping hot). The meatballs are tiny, making them easier to eat I suppose. With that much vegetables in the soup, you’d think that it’d have a little more flavor.

Oh, and a sea gull tried to attack me while sitting at the outside table. That was my cue to move inside, but there are still birds running around there too. Gross, so unsanitary!

These days before my birthday weekend are DRAGGING by! It’s painful, hehe.

Omg! Hubbs and I booked our flights to Dublin and London last night! I’m SO excited. We’re meeting Kryan and D-Dubbs in Ireland to celebrate Kry’s birthday, then heading to London to visit our friend D. Did I mention how excited it am?!?! The airfare did cost a pretty penny so I’m feeling a bit poor right now. Not the way to be when you have dinner at Benu coming up. Lol! So I’m gonna have a pretty busy Spring in terms of travel. I have a Caribbean cruise, a Europe trip, Las Vegas trip, and a possible trip to Ohio for a friend’s birthday. This is the most I’ll be travelling in a while! Heck yeah!

I stopped by La Boulange on the way home from the gym this morning and ordered what I thought was going to be a small snack because I was starving yet again. It ended up being an entire plate of food which I couldn’t finish. Gotta love breakfast at La Boulange though! The food is consistently good and super cheap. You get all this for $6.75! The frittata was a little overdone but it still tasted great. It was filled with lots of vegetables and topped with plenty of smoked salmon. The salad was good but overdressed.

Finally made it to Criolla Kitchen! It was weird going into the old Bagdad Cafe space and experiencing a new restaurant. I think the spirit of Bagdad Cafe is still there somehow. Anyway, the food at Criolla was pretty good, but didn’t quite meet my expectations. I wanted to get blown away with flavor, I mean it’s suppose to be “soul food”, right? This particular dish was actually pretty tasty. The shrimp was tender and nicely cooked and the tomato sauce was flavorful. Other dishes like the gumbo could have had more of a kick.

Hawaiian burger – Pinocchio In The Desert

I had a hard time sleeping last night, not sure why. I even had a nightmare where a snake tried biting me. Odd, huh?

Silverfox and I had a late brunch at one of our usual Palm Springs breakfast joints, Pinocchio In The Desert. Unfortunately, we were SO disappointed. Maybe it was the overcast weather, but everything at this place seemed off.  I’ve always known that you don’t really go to Pinocchio for the food, but the atmosphere is usually really fun so you don’t notice that the food isn’t all that great.

Today, we both noticed that the food was really crappy. That and the bottomless mimosas gave me a headache and knocked me out for the afternoon.

We did have a great dinner at Johannes though. You can read my diatribe about dark restaurants in my previous entry. I HATE DARK RESTAURANTS! So annoying.

Otherwise, had a lazy day. Did some clothes shopping and ran some errands. A nice vacay day if you ask me. Just wish the food had been better.

I guess this tasted ok, but how can you really go wrong with a burger drenched in teriyaki sauce with pineapples! Hawaiian burgers have always been a favorite of mine, but the beef patty on this burger was a bit of a throw away. Sad.

I usually love the items at Arizmendi, but this wasn’t very good. It tasted more like pizza than focaccia. I think the tomato sauce and mushrooms were a bit too much. The sauce gave the bread a damp texture and the marinated mushrooms tasted off. Even the spinach had a weird texture. Oh well…

I really should stop going out on a work night, ouch! Met Hubbs and Shumster out for drinks last night and of course all the usuals were out too. Needless to say, I stayed out later than I should have and ended up eating cheap, greasy Chinese take out. Not good. What is good is that Hubbs might join the Ireland trip, yay!

I love risotto because I can just whip it up and throw in any leftovers I need to get rid of. I had a package of chicken sausage that I had purchased on sale so I made this risotto that I will be eating the next couple of days for work lunches. It’s not very traditional but it tastes fickin’ good! I try to cook using all natural and organic ingredients when I can.

This is my absolute favorite bagel breakfast sandwich EVER! I always get it on some kind of wheat bagel and ask for “light on the cream cheese” (just to be safe), hehe. It’s SO flavorful and you don’t feel gross and heavy after eating it. NOMS!

Not a fan of this version of eggs benedict. I think it looked better on paper. The roasted tomatoes and mushroom ragout tasted odd and the cornbread made an odd combination.  Everything together tasted a little too sweet which isn’t what you’re looking for when you order an eggs benedict. Even the potatoes were just ok. Too bad. The eggs were beautifully poached though.
