Tijuana slice – Nizario’s Pizza

Tijuana slice - Nizario's Pizza
Pepperoni, pineapple, jalapeno. $4
Nizario’s Pizza, San Francisco CA

This is still one of my favorite pizzas are Nizario’s. I love the flavors and they’re great for after a long night out. The crust isn’t my favorite, but it’s a nice cheap late night option.

Grilled pork ribeye – Le Pigeon

Skate fish of the day - Le Pigeon
Garlic soy glaze, polenta, roasted pineapple, Maui onions, foie gras teriyaki butter. 5 course tasting menu $85
Le Pigeon, Portland OR

Mmm, this was a really tasty dish too! The pork was really flavorful and I liked all the components. After the really salty skate dish though, this teriyaki glazed pork tasted super salty as well. I think my salt tastebuds were shot at this point.

Banzai burger – Red Robin

Banzai burger - Red Robin
Teriyaki-glazed patty topped with grilled pineapple, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. Served with onion rings. $9.99
Red Robin, Sterling VA

This used to be my favorite burger at Red Robins when I was growing up. My tastebuds have change since then, but I still enjoy this burger since it brings me back. I do love their onion rings though!

The luau pizza – Marcello’s Pizza

The luau pizza - Marcello's Pizza
Canadian bacon topped with juicy pineapple tidbits.
Marcello’s Pizza, San Francisco CA

Hawaiian pizzas have always been my favorite and they tend to pack relatively fewer calories which is a bonus! I love the pizza crust at Marcello’s. It’s on the thinner side and has a great bite to it.

Lobster ceviche – 1760

Lobster ceviche - 1760
Caramelized coconut, pineapple, kaffir lime. $17
1760, San Francisco CA

I think that this dish was pretty to look at, but it didn’t taste very good. I don’t think that all the tropical flavors really accentuated the lobster, and the sticky white sauce on the bottom was just weird and had a off-putting texture. I couldn’t even recognize some of the ingredients and was left wondering what exactly went wrong.

Cheese amuse bouche - 1760
Cheese bites with sweet jelly, micro basil. Complimentary

Ham and scrambled eggs – Philippine Airlines

Ham and scrambled eggs - Philippine Airlines
Hash browns, mushrooms and tomato, pineapple, cranberry raisin bar, roll, orange juice. Complimentary
Manila (MNL) to San Francisco (SFO), Philippine Airlines

Ugh, not the best way to end a vacation – with subpar breakfast food from PAL. The ham was a bit salty and the hash browns were super mushy. I never expect much from airplane eggs so I really didn’t dock PAL points for them. Oh well…

Crab ‘n corn soup – Paraiso Grill

Crab 'n corn soup - Paraiso Grill
Creamy soup with crab, corn and egg. 200 PHP
Paraiso Grill, Boracay PHILIPPINES

Meh, this soup was neither particularly good nor bad. It tasted fine, but it was definitely forgettable. I guess it was something to eat while we waited for everything else.

Pineapple daquiri - Paraiso Grill
Pineapple Daquiri: rum, triple sec, lime juice, fresh pineapple. 180 PHP

Shaved ice with mango soft serve, mango, banana, pineapple, watermelon, jackfruit, red bean, powdered milk, condensed milk and chocolate sauce, topped with a cherry. 150 PHP
Halowich – Boracay PHILIPPINES

Omg, it’s been really hot here in San Francisco this week so I thought I’d post this awesome halo-halo dessert from Boracay! This thing was monster and so delicious to eat on a hot sunny day. I’m not sure how much sugar is packed in this cup, but I don’t want to know! Just shove it into my belly. 🙂

Cocktails – White Moon Bar

Mojito - White Moon Bar
Mojito. 220 PHP
White Moon Bar, Manila PHILIPPINES

Ugh, I was disappointed overall at how badly Manila made cocktails. They were either super weak or super sugary. Now I like to drink, so you better make my cocktails right, Mr. Bartender! White Moon Bar fell into the crappy cocktail category. All the cocktails were a little off. The mojito was probably the most drinkable. The malibu pineapple was too sweet and the electric ice tea was ridiculously awful. We had to send that one back. I asked if they could make the lychee martini on the not-so-sweet side, so their solution was so mix in olive juice! Lychee + olive juice, can you imagine?! LOL, that tasted like crap too! Omg, where can I get a decent cocktail?! :/
