Green chives shrimp dumplings - Grand Palace Restaurant
Mmm, I love Chinese green chives. They have a strong garlicky flavor that’s delicious with the shrimp filling. $3.20
Grand Palace Restaurant, South San Francisco CA

Green chives shrimp dumplings - Grand Palace Restaurant
Grand Palace actually keeps their shrimp pieces chunky as opposed to completely minced, yum!

Green squash and olive vegan focaccia – Arizmendi Bakery

Green squash and olive vegan focaccia - Arizmendi Bakery
With onions and poblano peppers. $2.50
Arizmendi Bakery, San Francisco

The focaccia bread at Arizmendi is delicious! I’ve found the simpler the toppings, the better. I’ve had the ones with tomato sauce and they weren’t as yummy.

Peanut brittle and brown sugar cookie – Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous

Peanut brittle and brown sugar cookie - Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous
With sea salt. $2.50
Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous, San Francisco CA

It may be a little difficult to tell from the pic, but this cookie is actually pretty sizable. And DELICIOUS! I’ve got to say that this was probably the best cookie I’ve had in a while! SO good!

Steamed tofu skins with minced pork – Grand Palace Restaurant

Steamed tofu skins with minced pork - Grand Palace Restaurant
I love tofu skin rolls! They sometimes have a shrimp filling, but this minced pork filling was really good too. $3.20
Grand Palace Restaurant, South San Francisco CA

Crema Catalana ice cream – Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous

Crema Catalana ice cream - Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous
Lime custard with citrus caramel. Single $3.50
Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous, San Francisco CA

Wow, this was SO amazing! The lime custard flavored ice cream was light and delicate but still very flavorful, and the citrus caramel was such a great surprise. It was gooey and runny and SO frickin’ yummy! Well done, Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous!

Bay Bridge, San Francisco
Driving towards San Francisco on the Bay Bridge. While not as popular or well known as the Golden Gate, I still enjoy driving back on the Bay Bridge and being welomed by the downtown skyline.

Amatriciana pizza – Ragazza

Amatriciana pizza - Ragazza
With tomato, Boccalone pancetta, chilies, pecorino, oregano, and a farm egg. $16
Ragazza, San Francisco CA

Omg, delicious! The buttery thin crust is SO flavorful and the thicker edges are airy and have a wonderful elasticity. The toppings are stellar – a perfect combination of salty, crunchy, smooth and rich. Definitely break the egg and spread the runny yolk on every slice. The sauce is spectacular and the thin strips of pancetta are SO frickin’ good! It’s no wonder this pizza is on the 7×7 list. Although the hostess had a bit of an attitude, I didn’t let it affect my food experience. Noms!

Pho do bien – Hometown Noodle 2

Pho do bien - Hometown Noodle 2
Seafood noodle soup with prawns, fish balls, and squid, accompanied with a plate of bean sprouts, basil leaves, lime wedge, and sliced jalapenos. Large $7.95
Hometown Noodle 2, San Bruno CA

This tasted pretty good, but they were definitely skimpy with the seafood. You got two pieces of each if you count that the fish balls were cut in half. Meh.

Purple blazing star flowers (Liatris spicata, Asteraceae)

Purple blazing star or prairie gay feather flowers (Liatris spicata, Asteraceae), West Field Road. It’s always interesting to post flower pics on this blog because that’s usually when I find out what the actual names are. I can usually get them to at least the family level before I have to do additional research, but there are just way too many ornamentals out there! 🙂

Nihari beef curry – Pakwan

Nihari beef curry - Pakwan
A special traditional boneless beef curry, topped with fresh ginger and cilantro. $8.99
Pakwan, San Francisco CA

I’m sure everyone in San Francisco knows that Pakwan is the place to go for delicious Pakistani food at amazing prices. When we were there the last time, there was a LARGE Pakistani family taking up a third of the restaurant so this prolonged the wait for food, but I think it added to the overall atmosphere. I mean the food must be good if Paskistanis are holding family functions there, right?!

Fresh raspberry tart – Tartine Bakery

Fresh raspberry tart - Tartine Bakery
With vanilla bean filling. Small $6.50
Tartine Bakery, San Francisco CA

Fresh raspberry tart - Tartine Bakery
I will admit this was delicious, but I had buyers remorse after paying almost $7 for it. I guess if I had split it with someone I could have rationalized a $3.25 slice, but I’m kind of a greedy vittle monster, lol! Seriously though, it was pretty damn tasty!

Les Miserables at the Orpheum Theatre

Les Miserables at the Orpheum Theatre, Market Street. Earlier this summer, I finally got to see this amazing musical for the first time! I’ve had the PBS anniversary soundtrack since forever and I know all the music so it was such a treat to finally see the production on stage. Of course I enjoyed it immensely and cried 4 or 5 times, lol!
