Mmm, these deviled eggs were scrumptious! They were soft and tender and packed a lot of flavor. Noms!

“Youth Taming The Wild” bronze statue, ca. 1927, Anna Hyatt Huntington, outside the San Diego Art Museum.

Arugula, cherry tomato and anchovy remoulade. $10
Starbelly, San Francisco CA
These sardines had really good flavor, but they were greasy! Ew. You get two decent pieces, but they also put SO much anchovy remoulade on the plate that it makes the sardines look inadequate. The remoulade was delicious, but the amount was excessive.

Ground shrimp with chili and ginger patty, house made pickled onions, cilantro and lime mayo, arugula on an artisan white bun. Two for $10
Sliderbar, San Francisco CA
Mmm, there are some delicious Asian flavors in this unique slider! Gotta give it to Sliderbar for creating some pretty creative sammies.

Sauce remoulade, tomato and arugula with French fries.
Starbelly, San Francisco CA
The service was SO slow and ineffective during this visit that the sardines and fries were cold upon arrival – FAIL! I’ve even heard from friends who agree that this place has gone downhill. That’s unfortunate because I really liked this place.

Random parking lot mobile, Castro Street.

Garlic demi glace and hamakua shiitake mushrooms, roasted new potatoes, arugula salad dressed with Japanese umeboshi vinaigrette. $28.50
Sansei Seafood Restaurant, Waikoloa HI

Mmm, this was very tasty. I loved the tender steak and all the components were pretty and delicious. I just wished the potatoes could have been crispier and not SO greasy.

Developing noni infructescence (Morinda citrifolia, Rubiaceae), Lololu Valley.

Poached eggs, prosciutto, sauce hollandaise, Maine lobster, arugula, English muffin. Gilt City brunch menu
Twenty Five Lusk, San Francisco CA
SO nommy! I thought that they would skimp of the lobster, but there were large pieces of whole lobster in there. Mmm, I want more!

Leaving the city on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Serrano ham, mission fig, fried goat cheese, spiced almonds, sevilla orange vinaigrette. Summer prix-fixe menu $38
Tinto, Palm Springs CA
This salad was pretty tasty! I especially loved the little fried goat cheese balls – they were delicious. The salad had lots of great ingredients and they all tasted great together.

Large rock formations, Joshua Tree National Park.

Mixed medley heirloom tomatoes, rustic basil pesto, arugula, balsamic reduction. $12.75
Lark Creek Grill, San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

Mmm, I love heirloom tomatoes! This was actually a really great dish from an airport restaurant, but everything is better at T2 at SFO. They had a great tomato variety in the dish too. Noms!

Boont amber ale, Anderson Valley, Booneville CA. $6

Tomato sauce, cilantro, yogurt, sesame seeds. $12
Toast, Oakland CA
I really enjoyed the smokey flavor of the tomato sauce. The meatballs were also very good, but the sauce was my favorite component.

Amuse bouche with goat cheese, beets, and baby arugula. Complimentary

With arugula, soft cooked egg, cucumber, and lime. $11
Toast, Oakland CA
I enjoyed just about everything I had at Toast, but this was probably my least favorite item. It was a little too tart for me and I don’t know what the tuna was confit(ed?) in, I’m guessing oil, but it did nothing to improve its flavor and texture. The albacore was actually a bit dry. Besides the beautifully cooked egg, this was kind of boring.

Place setting.

Shallot confit, arugula, mayo, preserved lemon. $9
Pig & Pie, San Francisco CA
Mmm, this was VERY good! My one food critique would be that the sausage could have been seared a little more – it was difficult to tear through the skin. I also had to wait a REALLY long time for it, but I guess this was OK since it was yummy!

Purple crossberry or lavendar starflower shrub (Grewia occidentalis, Malvaceae), Dolores Street.
