Coconut cake - Luce
Figs, honey ricotta sherbet. Tasting menu $95

Coconut cake - Luce
This dessert was REALLY pretty, but I don’t know if everything came together seamlessly. I liked all the individual components but the flavors didn’t really gel for me. But then again I’m not a huge dessert person in the first place.

Mini macarons - Luce
Mini macarons. Oh, how I love macarons!

First crop fig and burrata - Jardiniere
Mmm, silky burrata! I’ve actually never thought of pairing fig with burrata before but it’s a delicious combination. I appreciated the variety of textures and flavors in the dish and everything worked well together.

This salad was pretty tasty! I especially loved the little fried goat cheese balls – they were delicious. The salad had lots of great ingredients and they all tasted great together.

Fresh fig salad – Trio Restaurant

Fresh fig salad - Trio Restaurant
Figs, arugula, fresh ricotta, chopped hazelnuts, honey and white wine vinaigrette. $9
Trio Restaurant, Palm Springs CA

Ew, this salad was sweeter than dessert! The honey and white wine vinaigrette was WAY too sweet and the fresh ricotta and pulverized hazelnuts added a weird texture to this sad, overly dressed salad.

Chicken liver toscana – Mercato

Chicken liver toscana - Mercato
Grilled flatbread, fig marmellata, and arugula salad. $7
Mercato, Charleston SC

This chicken pate is a classic Tuscan dish and Mercato did it justice! It was simply delicious! The fig marmellata provided sweetness and the bright, citrus-y arugula salad helped to cut the heaviness of the chicken liver. Noms!

Warm focaccia and olive oil - Mercato
Warm focaccia and olive oil. Complimentary.

California gold sandwich – Mission Cheese

California gold sandwich - Mission Cheese
Grilled sandwich with San Joaquin Gold cheese, chevre, prosciutto and fig preserves. Served with a side salad. $10
Mission Cheese, San Francisco CA

This was my first time to Mission Cheese and I really liked it. My sandwich was absolutely delicious and the service was really nice and friendly. I definitely wanna come back and get a charcuterie plate with a cheese flight. That’s sounds amazing right now!

Orange and yellow strawflowers (Helichrysum bracteatum, Asteraceae)

Orange and yellow strawflowers (Helichrysum bracteatum, Asteraceae). I can’t recall the last time I saw strawflowers used to decorate a table at a restaurant. I thought this was cute! I remember growing rows and rows of strawflowers at my parents’ house and selling them at the local farmers market.

Salumi, cheese and tapenade

Project 365: Day 7

Omg! I am SO tired. I biked almost 15 miles to work this morning even though my legs were still tired from squats a couple days ago. Then Rapunzel, Papa Chang and I took a 30-minute bike ride before lunch. And then I biked to Bart after work and back home from the Bart station near my house. I was so hungry all day because I burned so many calories from biking. Maybe I’m over doing it on the exercise. I keep thinking, “Cruise, cruise, cruise!” I even had a dream about the cruise last night!

I’ve got to say that taking the midday ride was really fun and beautiful! It was nice to get out of the office, get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors. I love being outside and I’m glad that some of my coworkers do too!

Salumi cheese and tapenade

Prosciutto, salame al tartufo, taleggio cheese, reblochon prefere de fromi cheese, mixed olive tapenade, fig and olive tapenade, multiseed flatbread.

After I had an early dinner, I was still super hungry so I made myself a nice snack plate to munch on while catching up on DVR. I love truffle flavored salami – I bought these from Whole Foods. Actually, everything on this plate is from Whole Foods, lol!
