Honey granola – Odettes Eatery

Honey granola - Odettes Eatery
Summer fruits, labneh, cashew praline. $18 NZD
Odettes Eatery, Auckland NZ

This granola was really delicious. The yogurt was pretty thick so we had to add a bit of milk to thin it out. I loved all the different flavors and textures of all the toppings though. Yum!

This was a great Portuguese restaurant in Sonoma especially since there aren’t a lot of Portuguese restaurants out there! I loved all the different options they had on their menu and I thought that everything we ordered was really tasty. Noms!

Evening drinks – Perry’s

Gold Rush cocktail - Perry's
Gold Rush: Four Rose’s bourbon, honey syrup, lemon. $10
Perry’s, San Francisco CA

This place is an interesting mix of locals and tourists. The bartenders are all pretty nice and professional which is what really counts! I’m really liking the combination of bourbon and lemon lately.

Combo 5 Garden couple’s beef – Barbecue Garden

Combo 5 Garden couple's beef - Barbecue Garden
Bo nuong phan hai nguoi. Beef with cheese, beef 5 spices, beef with lemongrass and chili, beef with honey, vegetables, and steamed rice. 209,000 VND
Barbecue Garden, Ho Chi Minh City VIETNAM

I liked all the flavors of beef and it was really fun cooking them on the grill. We had to change seats though to avoid the smoke getting blown directly at our faces. The servers were also very good at changing the grill tops when they got too dirty midway through.

Beef with cheese - Barbecue Garden
Beef with cheese. Can’t say I’ve had something like this before. It was kinda random, but delicious!

Coconut cake – Luce

Coconut cake - Luce
Figs, honey ricotta sherbet. Tasting menu $95
Luce, San Francisco CA

Coconut cake - Luce
This dessert was REALLY pretty, but I don’t know if everything came together seamlessly. I liked all the individual components but the flavors didn’t really gel for me. But then again I’m not a huge dessert person in the first place.

Mini macarons - Luce
Mini macarons. Oh, how I love macarons!

Custard French toast – Nopa

Custard French toast - Nopa
Strawberries and honey-lemon butter, maple syrup. Half order $7
Nopa, San Francisco CA

Oh my effing god! This was probably the best French toast I’ve ever had. Sometimes I don’t really agree with the food items on the 7×7 Big Eat list, but this was frickin’ amazing! And I’m not even a French toast/pancake kinda guy! I wish I had taken a photo in cross-section because it was the interior texture that truly made this dish. The inside of the French toast was so silky and custard-y, and oh so delicious. I would brave the ridiculous brunch line again for this dish! NOMS!

Brunch cocktails – Nopa

Brunch cocktails - Nopa

Ukiah 75: Germain-Robin brandy, honey, lemon, Gloria Ferrer sparkling wine. $10
Haiku II: Hibiki whiskey, amaro Montenegro, fresh squeezed lemon juice. $11
Nopa, San Francisco CA

These cocktails were delicious and a wonderful way to begin our lovely brunch at Nopa. This place is POPULAR so be prepared to wait if you don’t have a reservation. We came early to get on the list, and luckily I think someone cancelled so we got seated at the end of the first seating. The bad part was that by that point, the kitchen was slammed with all the orders so it took a long time to actually get food. Thank goodness for cocktails!
