Egg, tomato, mixed herbs. $3.50
Arizmendi Bakery, San Francisco
I sometimes miss living near the Arizmendi on Valencia Street. I miss the fresh baked breads and other breakfast items. It was also convenient to grab something on my way to work. Yum!

Fontina, mozzarella, calabrese, spicy honey. $16
Hog & Hominy, Memphis
Mmm, this pizza was really delicious! I loved the toppings and the spicy honey is what really put it over the top. The crust was pretty good too. It was a little chewy on the edges, but it had a great flavor.
Sticky rice, mozzarella, bechamel, marinara. $6
Cherry Blossom Pub, Washington DC
These were good (and different). I liked the sticky rice variation to keep in line with the Super Mario theme on our side of the bar. This had great flavor though. The service was nice enough, but the crowds were just too loud and crazy to really enjoy anything.
Chicken liver and herb pate on grilled bruschetta, each $2.50. Mozzarella filled saffron-risotto fritters, english peas, each $3. Whole grain polenta fritters, lobster béchamel, each $3.
Pesce, San Francisco CA
Mmm, these little bites were great! We decided to try a variety for the table, and I’m happy with the items we decided on because they were all delicious. Noms! I don’t know why not more people like chicken livers though. I think they taste wonderful and these fegatini were prepared perfectly.
Focolare: Buffalo Trace bourbon, benedictine, walnut liqueur, mezcal. $10
Driving on the Golden Gate bridge.
Toasted flour tortilla filled with ground beef and melted mozzarella cheese. Drizzled with garlic mayo and smoky barbeque sauce. 240 PHP
Holy Cow!, Manila PHILIPPINES
I was excited for this quesadilla, but when it came out there was way too much sauce on top. I certainly like saucy things, but I don’t know if I really wanted that much mayonnaise on my quesadilla. Some of the right flavors were there, but I think the tortillas were old. They tasted a bit musty like it was about to mold.
Palacio del Sana, Intramuros.
Bright lights chard, gaeta olives, mozzarella. Happy hour $8
Stoneburner, Seattle WA
Omg, only eight bucks for this amazing pizza during happy hour?! Count me in!! Honestly, this pizza was frickin’ great. The ingredients were top notch and the crust was heavenly. I think Stoneburner definitely has one of the best happy hours in Ballard!
Bourbon Old Fashioned: bourbon, gum syrup, bitters, orange zest. Happy hour $7
Parmesan, oregano, and dried chilies.
With organic tomato carpaccio, topped with grilled shiitake with dressed in light truffle oil vinaigrette. 480 PHP
Cozina, Boracay PHILIPPINES
This was pretty tasty and I loved the shiitake mushrooms on top. My only critique would be that they should have served this with some delicious, crusty bread to spread the mozzarella on and to mop up the yummy vinaigrette.
Boating around Boracay.
Loaded potato skins, fried mozzarella, and tangy buffalo wings, served with sour cream, chives and marinara sauce. 420 PHP
Wave Bar & Lounge, Boracay PHILIPPINES
This was pretty good for a fried appetizer plate. The loaded potato skins ended up being bbq potato chips though. Ugh, whatever. Everything tasted great, but the chips were a bit soggy. The service was really friendly and they bring the food out to you on the beach. Lovely!
It took me a while to figure out what “three-dal wave” was referring to. I wasn’t sure if it was a tagalog thing at first, but then realized it was a play on “tidal wave”. Ugh, doesn’t sound very similar, lol!

With heirloom tomatoes, brown butter and sage. Banquet-style dinner
Ragazza, San Francisco CA
Simple dishes with quality products are the absolute best! This was SO yummy! I love mozzarella and heirloom tomtatoes so it’s not a surprise that I would like this dish, but they added even more flavor with the brown butter and fried sage so I was a total fan.
California lilac (Ceanothus sp., Rhamnaceae), Land’s End.
With smoked mozzarella and sun-dried tomato pesto. Banquet-style dinner
Ragazza, San Francisco CA
We came here for a friend’s birthday celebration and sat in the cool white tent located in the back patio. We had a great time with amazing friends and, of course, the food was fabulous. These arancini were delicious and perfectly cooked (not greasy at all!). The smoked mozzarella inside the fried risotto ball was gooey and flavorful, and the accompanying meat sauce was wonderful too.
I really liked this (tacky) cowboy statue at the de Young Museum, hehe! Hey, it has lots of movement! 🙂
Tomato, mozzarella, basil, sweet peppers. $14
Del Popolo, San Francisco CA
This food truck is pretty cool because it’s over a story tall and they literally have a pizza oven conveyor belt in there! It’s super popular and the pizzas are pretty good, but honestly I’m not a fan of the brunt, blistered crusts. For me, the ash taste is overwhelming and pretty much contaminates the rest of the pizza’s flavor. I guess I’m one of the few who doesn’t like it that way.
Line for the Del Popolo food truck, Picnic at the Presidio.
With basil and olive oil. $10
Curbside Cafe, San Francisco CA
Mmm, this was so tasty! I love simple and beautiful dishes like this. It’s all about the wonderful ingredients because there’s no fancy preparation or a million ingredients to distract you. Curbside did a great job with this plate!
