Tomato, mozzarella, basil, sweet peppers. $14
Del Popolo, San Francisco CA
This food truck is pretty cool because it’s over a story tall and they literally have a pizza oven conveyor belt in there! It’s super popular and the pizzas are pretty good, but honestly I’m not a fan of the brunt, blistered crusts. For me, the ash taste is overwhelming and pretty much contaminates the rest of the pizza’s flavor. I guess I’m one of the few who doesn’t like it that way.
Line for the Del Popolo food truck, Picnic at the Presidio.

You are right. The crust looks charred.
Yeah, ick!
YUMYUMYUM! Mouth is watering so bad and I’m a vegetarian!
Haha, food makes me weak too! 🙂
Crispy crust yes please, burnt, no thanks!
I agree wholeheartedly!
UGH. You are right. Who wants to eat a bunch of Carbon? That crust is just not the way it should be, Vincente. Have a good weekend! – Shanna
I’ve had several cooked this way now from different local pizza places. I don’t like this. 😦
I don’t get it. Maybe they need a Chef to say: “Burnt, bad.” “Not yummy.” 😦
I think the lack of return customers will get them in the end.
Vicente – I am sure you are right. If you don’t have a good product, your food venture can’t sustain itself, even with a lot of hype. Best – Shanna
I totally agree with everything you said about burnt pizza crust!
I don’t know why people like it so much? I’m not a fan.
