Sauteed chicken, turkey and potato hash atop arugula with sunny-side-up egg, wheat toast, yogurt, za’atar, syrup, homemade lemon olive oil dressing. Aroma Espresso Bar, Toronto CANADA
This looked dry, gray, and boring and that’s exactly how it tasted. There wasn’t much going for this plate except that it was healthy. I’ve rather have tasty and flavorful over bland and healthy any day.
With arugula and spiced red walnuts. Mushroom wot with mustard greens and smoked cheese. Pre fixe menu Radio Africa & Kitchen, San Francisco CA
I love roasted beets and this salad had a awesome combination of flavors and textures. It was super refreshing and delicious. I’ve never had Ethiopian wot before, but this mushroom wot reminded me of an Italian crostini. It tasted great!
Classic angus beef tartare, capers and crispy bone marrow, arugula. $15 Park Tavern, San Francisco CA
Surprisingly, I don’t remember this dish very well. It really wasn’t too memorable or maybe I got overwhelmed with venison carpaccio AND beef tartare on the same plate. I DO remember that the crispy bone marrow were amazing!
Grilled hanger steak, two fried eggs, pickled red onion, garlic aioli, wild arugula, chimichurri, toasted pain de mie, crispy skinny fries, and fruit. $13 Stock in Trade, San Francisco CA
This burger had a lot of great flavors, but it was super cold – EW! I think the server must have forgotten it on the counter for a long time before bringing it out. I was surprised that the skinny French fries stayed crispy and delicious though. I can only imagine how much better they would have been served warm. Kind lame, Stock in Trade!
Onion crema, shaved garlic, preserved lemon, aged provolone, wild arugula. Banquet-style dinner Ragazza, San Francisco CA
Sorry for the dirty plate, but I had a lot of food before grabbing a piece of this pizza, hehe. And it was a delicious piece of pizza at that! I think it was the combination of the onion crema, garlic and preserved lemon that really made this pizza sing. The wild arugula was a great peppery topping. Noms!
Two eggs, roasted red pepper coulis, arugula. $13 Hilltop 1892, Novato CA
This dish was such a disappointment! I asked for my eggs to be cooked “a runny over-medium”. Another person also asked for their eggs to be runny. What I received was FRIED eggs! They weren’t even cooked over-hard – they were completely FRIED. The other guy also got rockhard fried eggs. I would have appreciated runny eggs with this dish because the short rib hash underneath was stringy and dried out. There really was no saving this dish. LAME!
Pink rock purslane flower (Calandrinia spectabilis, Portulacaceae), Kentfield.
With arugula and organic yogurt. $15 Beretta, San Francisco CA
Wow, these lamb chops were SO good! They were perfectly cooked, tender with a great lamb flavor. The lightly dressed arugula helped to cut the rich fattiness of the lamb, and the yogurt with basil chiffonade was a good flavor neutralizer. Noms!
Bart station art installation with avian and floral theme, 16th Street Station.
Arugula salad with red beet and goat cheese, lemon mustard dressing. $8 Le P’tit Laurent, San Francisco CA
This is such a cute restaurant and the service was very friendly and attentive! Everything we had was very tasty, but I’ll admit that this salad was over-dressed. It tasted great, but there was way too much dressing so the greens were soggy.
