Madarin combo clay pot – Jasmine Tea House

Madarin combo clay pot - Jasmine Tea House
Shrimp, beef, scallop, squid, chicken, jalapeno, vegetable, garlic. $12.95
Jasmine Tea House, San Francisco CA

Mmm, for a delivery clay pot dish, this rocked! The ingredients were of surprisingly good quality and they tasted great! There were so many proteins packed in there. Most Chinese places fill the dish with bok choy and only give you a few slices of meat. I was even surprised that the squid and scallops were tender and fresh tasting. Now that’s impressive for Chinese delivery! I would definitely order this dish again.

BBQ Gulf shrimp – Town Hall

BBQ Gulf shrimp - Town Hall
Worcestershire sauce, scallions, sprouts, garlic herb toast. $15
Town Hall, San Francisco CA

This tasted good, perhaps way too salty, but it still had great flavors. You would think that a nicer place like Town Hall would know better than to over-season their food, but maybe they were having an off night. Nicely cooked shrimp has to be one of my favorite things especially with the heads attached. I’ve always been surprised at how many people won’t try sucking out the heads because they’re afraid or disgusted. But that’s where all the favorite is! Mmm, shrimp heads are SO amazing, NOMS!

Shrimp ceviche – El Techo de Lolinda

Shrimp ceviche - El Techo de Lolinda

Ceviche de camaron. Shrimp, lime, roasted tomato, red onion, cucumber, avocado, cilantro, served with tortilla chips. $13
El Techo de Lolinda, San Francisco CA

Eh, this was a standard ceviche; nothing special and maybe a little on the too sour side. I wasn’t very impressed with this ceviche knowing how popular this place is for drinks and bar food. I think they’re banking on their rooftop location more than providing delicious drinks and food. We’ll see how long before people catch on.

Har gau and Steamed special fen guo dumplings – Yauatcha

Har gau and Steamed special fen guo dumplings - Yauatcha
A Taste of Yauatcha menu £28.88 for 2 people
Yauatcha, London ENGLAND

These were more your typical dim sum dumpling items so this steam tray was more familiar than the others (and maybe a little more boring). The two kinds of dumplings were actually really good though. The har gow is a tried and true standard. I’m not completely sure what all was in the fen guo dumpling, but I would guess it was a mixture of pork, shrimp, garlic chives, mushrooms and peanuts.

Golden aster martini and Ages Vesper martini - Yauatcha
Golden aster martini: Buffalo Trace bourbon, Antica forumula sweet vermouth, Aperol, saffron, lemon and chilli syrup. £9.80
Aged Vesper martini: Tanqueray No. Ten gin, Belvedere vodka and Lillet Blanc vermouth. £9.90
These cocktails were nicely made and delicious!

Sticky rice in lotus leaf – Yauatcha

Sticky rice in lotus leaf - Yauatcha
With chicken and dried shrimp. A Taste of Yauatcha menu £28.88 for 2 people
Yauatcha, London ENGLAND

Sticky rice in lotus leaf - Yauatcha
Mmm, this sticky rice was very flavorful! I was happily surprised that we each got individual portions because I was enjoying all the delicious food and didn’t want to share, lol. I think I ended finishing up David’s portion too. 🙂 I liked the texture of the rice and it was fun discovering the little pieces of chicken and dried shrimp hidden within.

Eggplant with chicken and shrimp – Jade Cafe

Eggplant with chicken and shrimp - Jade Cafe
Green onion and garlic in special sauce. $10
Jade Cafe, San Francisco CA

I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth just thinking about this dish. The eggplant was mushy, the chicken and shrimp were overcooked and of poor quality, and there was about 2 cups of rancid oil in there! GROSS, this place serves disgusting food.

Sauteed spicy lime-drizzled shrimp – Alicante

Sauteed spicy lime-drizzled shrimp - Alicante
Garlic, cherry tomato, chilies. $6
Alicante, Palm Springs CA

This dish was light and refreshing, but I guess I was wanting something more rich like a traditional gambas al ajillo. There was more citrus in this preparation than garlic and butter. It was still pretty tasty, but not what I was craving.

Blue shrimp – Jardiniere

Blue shrimp - Jardiniere
Corn, shelling bean, purslane. Tasting menu $140
Jardiniere, San Francisco CA

Mmm, the shrimp in this dish were delicious and perfectly cooked. I was afraid that the purslane leaves were going to be too slimey, but they actually weren’t bad. There were also sesame seeds and some other hard, crunchy seed(?) which I didn’t really like.

Rio style moqueca – Bossa Nova

Rio style moqueca - Bossa Nova
Local shellfish (mussels, shrimp, fish), coconut milk, soffrito and croutons. $22.50
Bossa Nova, San Francisco CA

This is my favorite dish at Bossa Nova and I order it every time. Unfortunately, this time around they served it without any bread and it took a while to get the waitress’ attention afterward. That was a bit careless, but this seafood stew is so warm and comforting that it quickly eases any frustration. Mmm!

Shrimp papaya salad – Dinosaurs

Shrimp papaya salad - Dinosaurs
Shrimp with green papaya, carrots, daikon, tomato, and Thai basil. Served with crushed roasted peanuts, fried shallots, and a sweetened lime-fish sauce dressing. $5.75
Dinosaurs, San Francisco CA

Mmm, even the salads at Dinosaurs are delicious! The ingredients taste super fresh and I can’t get enough of those fried shallots and lim-fish sauce. 🙂

Steamed shell fish combination - Mission Street Oyster Bar
With green lip mussels, black mussels, clams, and shrimp. $20.95
Mission Street Oyster Bar, San Francisco CA

Mmm, this was really delicious and there was plenty of seafood on the plate. The broth was very tasty and full of fresh sprigs of thyme. Everything was steamed beautifully and not overdone. Noms!
