Banana and honey yogurt parfait – Starbucks

Banana and honey yogurt parfait - Starbucks

Creamy yogurt with banana, honey and toasted granola. $4.99
Starbucks, Palm Springs International Airport (PSP)

This is definitely one of those things that makes way more fiscal sense to make at home, but I was starving after my flight so I had to get it, hehe! With full sugar and full fat, yes, it was yummy. 🙂

Anson Mills Carolina Gold horchata cocktail - McCrady's Restaurant

Anson Mills Carolina Gold rice, Espolon Reposado tequila, Amaro Nonino liqueur, honey vinegar, Bitter Truth Jerry Thomas bitters, lime. $12
McCrady’s Restaurant, Charleston SC

This was a new one for me – a horchata cocktail! And it was SO delicious! They used rice flour and lots of other ingredients as you can see. The result is a super refreshing and scrumptious cocktail with lots of flavor and a wonderful texture!

Scallop and pork belly – Poogan’s Porch

Scallop and pork belly - Poogan's Porch
Pan seared scallop and pork belly with pickled shallots, microgreens, arugula puree, finished with bbq reduction. $8.95
Poogan’s Porch, Charleston SC

Found this restaurant through Yelp, and I’m SO glad I did! The food was amazing and the service was sweet (and on the young side, lol). This pork belly was done pretty well with a great sear and caramelization on the outside. You never know how fatty pork belly is gonna be when you order it, but this cut wasn’t too fatty at all. I really don’t mind either way, but this is Charleston y’all and I needed to save fat calories where ever I could, lol! I will say that the scallops tasted a little too sharp and metallic-y for me. They were beautifully cooked though, the flavor was just off.

Home made biscuit and honey butter - Poogan's Porch
Home made biscuit and honey butter. Complimentary. This biscuit was light and fluffy and everybody frickin’ loves honey butter so I was in heaven.

Corn bread - Jestine's Kitchen
I’m not sure if it was the actual corn bread or the honey butter that made these SO good, but they were irresistible! I could have eaten the entire basket all by myself!

Sweet homemade pickles - Jestine's Kitchen
Sweet homemade pickles. Complimentary. I’d rather have these free, delicious pickles than free dinner rolls any day!

Carolina shrimp and grits – The Glass Onion

Carolina shrimp and grits - The Glass Onion
With andouille sausage and braised tomatoes. $17
The Glass Onion, Charleston SC

This dish was pretty good with great flavor. I loved the texture of the grits, but the shrimp may have been a little overcooked. Not too much, but they were definitely not as tender as I would have liked. Also, I did want to mention that the service was a bit awkward.

Cornbread and honey - The Glass Onion
Cornbread drizzled with honey. These were delicious and I wish I had requested another round!

Jennie Ruth's deviled eggs - The Glass Onion
Yum! These were small, but they were packed with flavor. The texture of the whipped yolk filling was light and creamy. A delicious starter for the meal!

Vanilla honey lavender ice cream – Fairfax Scoop

Project 365: Day 124

Ugh, so sad to be back at work today after such a great weekend. At least the weather is holding up. Heading to the gym after work and just gonna spend the night catching up on dvr.

Vanilla honey lavender ice cream Fairfax Scoop
Vanilla flavored ice cream made with local ingredients. Honey from Marshall CA and lavender from Wood Lane Gardens in Fairfax CA. Kids scoop $1.75
Fairfax Scoop, Fairfax CA

This had a softer texture than some of the other flavors at Fairfax Scoop, but it tasted amazing. The honey added a rich sweetness and the lavender wasn’t too overpowering.

Vegetable samosas – Waterfront Cafe

Vegetable samosas Waterfront Cafe

East Indian delicacy of potato and vegetables in a pastry parcel with a soy honey dipping sauce. Part of “Tapas for Two” $64 (Barbados dollar)
Waterfront Cafe, Bridgetown, BARBADOS

Vegetable samosas Waterfront Cafe
I loved that these weren’t greasy at all. They stayed crispy on the outside, and the filling was piping hot. The soy honey sauce was also a great addition.

The Wharf Road boardwalk
Boardwalk along The Wharf Road in downtown Bridgetown near the restaurant. I really liked this town. There was a lot to do and plenty of restaurants to choose from. There are plenty of taxis everywhere, but it’s also walker friendly.

Hubbard Grille beer

We sat at one of the tables next to the bar that has a couple beer spouts attached. Unfortunately, they were experiencing a glitch in their system to the spouts were working that day, but it’s a great idea. Apparently your table is charged by the amount of beer that you pour.

Menage a trois sandwich – Ike’s Place

Menage a trois sandwich Ike's Place

Halal chicken, real honey, honey mustard, bbq, pepper jack, swiss, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, dirty sauce on Dutch crunch bread. $11.11
Ike’s Place, San Francisco

Ok, normally I’d be bitching and moaning about a sandwich that costs more than ten dollars, but the sandwiches at Ike’s are pretty large and super tasty! They have SO many sandwich options, that you should definitely go online and choose what you want first before heading over since they don’t post all the options at the store.

This sandwich was REALLY good! I loved the halal chicken with the honey, honey mustard, and bbq combo! Throw some dirty sauce in there and you’re in sauce heaven!

Jamon serrano – Contigo

Jamon serrano Contigo

Cured Spanish ham with Warren pears, Valdeon blue cheese, arugula and honey. $13
Contigo, San Francisco

So simple, so delicious! This was such a bright and refreshing starter. There’s not a lot on the plate but every ingredient counts. I love the beautiful pink color of the Spanish ham and the sweet Warren pears paired wonderfully with the salty meat. The arugula and honey drizzle were yummy additions.

Almond and goji berry chocolates – Benchic Chocolate

Almond goji berry chocolates Benchic Chocolate

Cacao (raw chocolate), Bay Area wild honey, lucuma, vanilla, Himalayan salt, goji berries, and almonds.
Benchic Chocolate, Bay Area

I recently discovered a new, local chocolatier!  Benchic Chocolate makes delicious, minimally processed treats using only certified organic or pesticide free ingredients.  They are absolutely delicious and you can purchased them online!

Almond goji berry chocolates Benchic Chocolate

These chocolates are quite wholesome with only 7 high quality ingredients, and nothing is heated over 160 degrees Fahrenheit in the process.  These addicting morsels are dark, dense, and not overly sweet – just the way I like it!

Almond goji berry chocolates Benchic Chocolate

These particular chocolates have chopped raw almonds and goji berries inside. I love the bright red color of the berries, and you can still see their seeds.  The only sweetner used is local wild honey, so you don’t have to worry about any refined sugar.  You can really taste and apprecieate all the individual ingredients.

Benchic Chocolate box

My chocolates arrived in this chic (hehe) robin egg blue box reminiscent of those from Tiffany & Co.  Quite appropriate since both contain exciting treats inside.  Personally, I’d prefer chocolates any day – lol!

Benchic Chocolate packaging

Ben Tseitlin, founder of Benchic Chocolate, also teaches chocolate making classes for the general public.  You’ll not only learn about the history and health benefits of chocolate, but you’ll experience a tasting tour of ingredients and make your own scrumptious treats.

Simple, and simply delicious!
