Scrambled eggs and chicken sausage – Philippine Airlines

Scrambled eggs and chicken sausage - Philippine Airlines
With bacon, hash browns, sauteed mushrooms, tomato, fruit, sweet roll, dinner roll. Complimentary
San Francisco (SFO) to Manila (MNL), Philippine Airlines

Ugh, I was NOT liking this breakfast. The bacon was OK because it’s really hard to mess up bacon, but everything else was a little off. I’ve never been a fan of Asian sausages because of their soft squishy texture so that was already a point off. The eggs weren’t very good either, even by airplane food standards. The sweet rolls was pretty tasty though.

Omelet with cheese – Pink Tulip Hotel

Omelet with cheese - Pink Tulip Hotel
Served with bread. 35,000 VND
Pink Tulip Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City VIETNAM

So this is what Vietnam considers an omelet. OK, I can live with it. The omelet tasted pretty good, but I’m not quite sure what kind of cheese this was. It looked and tasted like Kraft American cheese singles.

Crusty bread - Pink Tulip Hotel
Amazing crusty bread. Ugh, the bread here was SO good. The exterior was flaky and crunchy, and the interior was light and airy. I didn’t want to eat SO many carbs during the trip, but I HAD to eat an entire loaf every morning. 🙂

Butter and jam - Pink Tulip Hotel
Butter and strawberry jam.

Chicken caldereta – Philippine Airlines

Chicken caldereta - Philippine Airlines
With rice, steamed vegetables, macaroni salad, chocolate chip bread, and pound cake. Complimentary
San Francisco (SFO) to Manila (MNL), Philippine Airlines

This was the first time I’d flown Philippine Airlines and I was pretty impressed. I was way back in Economy, but the seats were still comfortable and there was a surprising amount of leg room for the back of the plane. The food was decent too. I don’t eat much Filipino food, but I definitely crave it now and then. I enjoyed that the PAL food was distinctly Filipino. 🙂

Baby field green and fine herb salad – Alamo Square Seafood Grill

Baby field green and fine herb salad - Alamo Square Seafood Grill
With sliced radishes and croutons. Daily 3-course prix fixe $14.50
Alamo Square Seafood Grill, San Francisco CA

This salad doesn’t look very interesting, but it was actually pretty good. It was lightly(!) tossed in a basic vinaigrette which I kinda liked. Overly dressed salads are the worst! And for a very affordable pre fixe, this salad was better than expected.

Pesto and olive oil with bread - Alamo Square Seafood Grill
Pesto and olive oil with bread. Complimentary

Hunters Point
Open Studios at Hunters Point. I love this event because you get to see artwork from a lot of local artists, and you can usually find some good deals. I can’t afford super expensive art so this is a great alternative.

Lobster bisque – Curbside Cafe

Lobster bisque - Curbside Cafe
Soup du jour. Chef Special (soup + entree) $18
Curbside Cafe, San Francisco CA

I didn’t like the color of this lobster bisque, but it was packed with great lobster/seafood flavor! I think it looked more like split pea soup, but I guess it doesn’t matter if it tasted was amazing as it did. 🙂

Dutch crunch bread - Curbside Cafe
Dutch crunch bread. Complimentary
I rarely see this kind of bread served at restaurants as their table bread. In San Francisco, they usually serve sourdough, a baguette, or some other local artisanal variety. I liked that Curbside Cafe switched it up!

Legion of Honor

Ciopinno – Cafe Renzo

Ciopinno - Cafe Renzo
Clams, mussels, calamari, prawns and fresh fish sautéed in a tomato garlic broth. $23
Cafe Renzo, Palo Alto CA

Meh, this was ok. Definitely not the best ciopinno I’ve had. The sauce was a bit salty and some of the seafood were overcooked, but the flavors were there. I wasn’t feeling the love from this seafood stew though.

Dinner roll - Cafe Renzo
Dinner roll. Complimentary

Smoked trout rillette – Yield Wine Bar

Smoked trout rillette - Yield Wine Bar
With sliced apples, fried capers, and fresh bread. Happy hour $7
Yield Wine Bar, San Francisco CA

This smoked trout rillette was really refreshing. It was bright and punchy and fun to eat. I would spread some of the rillette on the bread, embed some of the fried capers into it, and top it with an apple slice. Fun and tasty finger food!

House red wine - Yield Wine Bar

Olive and cherry tomato greche – Princi

Olive and cherry tomato greche - Princi
Greek bread with green olives and cherry tomatoes. £2.20
Princi, London ENGLAND

This bread was pretty good. We ordered it because we didn’t recognize the name. It was jam-packed with olives which is great because I’m an olive fiend. They reheated it before serving so it was nice and warm! 🙂

Hungerford Bridge

Cheese and wine – Z Hotel Soho

Cheese plate - Z Hotel Soho
Assorted cheese, olive, biscuit, raisin and hazelnut bread. Complimentary
Z Hotel Soho, London ENGLAND

The Z Hotel had a great complimentary cheese and wine break available in the early evening. They set it up in their cafe and actually had a pretty good selection of snacks and alcohol. We only made it down for one evening, but we had a great time. I was generally impressed by the professionalism and service from the Z Hotel staff overall. Although the rooms were super small, the central location of the hotel was perfect for this visit! 🙂

Breakfast plate – Dolce Sitges

Breakfast plate - Dolce Sitges
Spanish tortilla, Iberico ham, sausage, scrambled eggs, hazelnuts, cheese, toast, orange juice, coffee.
Dolce Sitges, Sitges ES

The breakfast buffet at Dolce Sitges was pretty kick-ass! This was only one plate I ate, but they definitely had much more to offer. We were unapologetic about loading up on breakfast before heading out for a day of sightseeing, hehe. We paid for it, right? And I felt like we would burn off the calories anyway. One downside to eating SO much breakfast was that I missed out on some food opportunities while touring simply because was still full. #touristproblems 🙂

Iberico ham legs
Iberico ham legs. This was a first! I’d never seen carving stations like this before where you can order as much ham as you want and the attendant will carve it directly off the leg. Now that’s what I call “cut-to-order”!

Foie gras terrine – Dolce Sitges

Foie gras terrine - Dolce Sitges
Fruit preserves, toast points, side salad.
Dolce Sitges, Sitges ES

This was SO good! I think they really skimped on the toast points though considering the large slab of the foie gras terrine, lol. Oh well, I made do. 🙂

Art nouveau clock tower

Art nouveau clock tower, Placa Cap de la Vila. The narrow streets of Sitges provide a surprise around every corner!

Iberico ham sandwich – Los Vikingos

Iberico ham sandwich - Los Vikingos
Jamon iberico de bellota con pan con tomate. On toasted tomato bread, with espresso.
Los Vikingos, Sitges ES

Mmm, I love tomato bread in Spain! It’s SO simple but the bread and tomatoes they use are so delicious. This particular sandwich is stuffed with Iberico ham de bellota which is of the finest grade, from free range pigs that feed in oak forests and primarily eat acorns (bellotas). Noms!

Monument al Doctor Robert

Monument al Doctor Robert in front of the Church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla. I guess Doctor Robert was a former mayor of Barcelona so I’m not sure why they have his statue in Sitges. Regardless, Sitges is so quaint with lots of cute vistas and everyone is really friendly.
