Braised pork cheeks steamed bun – Little Uncle

Braised pork cheeks steamed bun - Little Uncle
Pickled vegetables, garlic chili paste. Each $3.30
Little Uncle, Seattle WA

Which is better, braised pork cheeks or pork belly? I’m not gonna choose between the two because they’re both delicious! These buns were super tasty and I loved the braising sauce. The pickled radish and carrot gave these morsels the perfect bite. Mmm…

Pork dip sandwich – Percy’s & Co.

Pork dip sandwich - Percy's & Co.
On baguette, sweet onion marmalade, wilted pea vines, pork jus. Happy hour $7
Percy’s & Co., Seattle WA

This sandwich was SO good! I mean who doesn’t love dipping sandwiches in delicious jus?! The pea vines were also a nice twist on greens and the onion marmalade was a great “condiment”. NOMS!

Pork dumpling – Revel

Pork dumpling - Revel
Green curry, coconut, basil. $9
Revel, Seattle WA

Mmm, another tasty dish from Revel. I loved the addition of green curry in the dumpling, you don’t see that very often. And the toasted coconut shavings made for a fun topping. We have SO many dumplings in San Francisco and they all start tasting similar especially if you’re at a dumpling restaurant, so I loved that these dumplings were out of the ordinary and delicious!

Long cooked pork – Nopa

Long cooked pork - Nopa
Fresh shelling beans, roasted corn, tomato confit and skillet bread. $15
Nopa, San Francisco CA

This was a very hearty, filling dish and it was tasty! It would be great as a hangover cure, lol. I could easily see this served as a lunch or dinner item too. All the ingredients were delicious and the pork was tender and flavorful. There could have been more of it though. The portion was a bit on the small side.

Szeged goulash – Paprika

Szeged goulash - Paprika
Pork with sauerkraut and cream, served with gnocchi. $14.50
Paprika, San Francisco CA

I can’t say I’ve eaten much goulash in my life, but this was delicious and SO comforting! All the food at this restaurant would be great on a cold day to perk up your spirit and soul. The pork was tender and the sauce had so much flavor. The gnocchi were soft and pillowy and great for sopping up more of the tasty sauce. Noms!

Beer - Paprika
Staropramen Lager. The well balanced, full bodied, highly drinkable and pleasantly smooth taste of our Premium Lager offers a rewarding pleasure of the Czech beer. $6
Weihenstephan Hefe. A brewery licensed by the City of Freising in 1040 and has a credible claim to being the oldest working brewery in the world, nothing refreshes you more than this naturally cloudy wheat beer with its wonderful yeasty fragrance and taste. $6.50

I’m really not sure how to review beer. I generally just decide if its drinkable for me or not. These were pretty good and I love the large glasses they were served in. 🙂

Tofu kimchi – K-pop

Tofu kimchi - K-pop
Sliced tender prime pork marinated in spicy sauce, pan fried with kimchi and tofu. $13.95
K-pop, San Francisco CA

The menu description made it seem like the tofu was incorporated in the pan fried pork and kimchi mixture. I was kind of annoyed when the dish arrived and there were large slices of fresh tofu on the side. Ugh! The tofu was bland of course so that’s why I was hoping it would have already been added to the spicy kimchi mixture so that it could have acquired some flavor. Otherwise, I like the dish enough.

Shanghai soup dumplings – Dumpling Empire

Shanghai soup dumplings - Dumpling Empire
Xiao long bao. Six pieces $4.95
Dumpling Empire, South San Francisco CA

These were decent. The dumpling wrapper was on the thicker side, but at least the dumplings all stayed intact and they were not steamed in those lame aluminum cups. The flavors of the soup and pork filling were pretty good so I can’t complain too much. And the price was really good!

Mixed sausages plate – Paprika

Mixed sausages plate - Paprika
Grilled Hungarian sweet sausage and Swiss bockwurst with mashed potatoes and homemade gravy, onions, cornichons, sauerkraut, and condiments. $13.50
Paprika, San Francisco CA

This was a really fun and delicious plate! I enjoyed both of the sausages and I liked how they were scored along their lengths and split on the ends. The added texture allowed for more grill marks on their surfaces which I loved. The mashed potatoes were good and I loved their Eastern European style gravy. It had lots of flavor. The accompaniments made it really fun to eat and to mixed and match all the different flavors. Noms!

Pork sisig taco – Senor Sisig

Pork sisig taco - Senor Sisig
6″ corn tortilla, onions, lettuce and cilantro cream sauce. $3
Senor Sisig, SF Street Food Festival 2013, San Francisco CA

Ugh! I was really excited to try the sisig taco because I’ve read quite a bit about this food truck. I was sadly disappointed because the pork had an odd flavor and it was WAY too tart. I love sisig, but this didn’t do it for me. Perhaps their burritos are better, but then again it’s the same sisig filling inside. 😦

Prawn shui mai and King crab Shanghai siew long bun – Yauatcha

Prawn shui mai and King crab Shanghai siew long bun - Yauatcha
Shu mai with chicken, xiao long bao with pork. A Taste of Yauatcha menu £28.88 for 2 people
Yauatcha, London ENGLAND

Noms, these were SO tasty! I don’t think I’ve ever had Shanghai soup dumplings with crab in them, and they didn’t break, yay! Even the shu mai was fancy with large chunks of prawn and chicken. Mmm, I’m craving dim sum now. 🙂

Szechuan eggplant with minced pork – Red Jade

Szechuan eggplant with minced pork - Red Jade
Onion, garlic, bamboo shoot, green onion. $8.50
Red Jade, San Francisco CA

I know this looks really oily in the pic, but it actually wasn’t that bad. I think the lighting is misleading. I love eggplant dishes at Chinese restaurants and this was pretty tasty. The sauce was garlicky and delicious and the eggplants were nicely prepared. Noms!

Har gau and Steamed special fen guo dumplings – Yauatcha

Har gau and Steamed special fen guo dumplings - Yauatcha
A Taste of Yauatcha menu £28.88 for 2 people
Yauatcha, London ENGLAND

These were more your typical dim sum dumpling items so this steam tray was more familiar than the others (and maybe a little more boring). The two kinds of dumplings were actually really good though. The har gow is a tried and true standard. I’m not completely sure what all was in the fen guo dumpling, but I would guess it was a mixture of pork, shrimp, garlic chives, mushrooms and peanuts.
