Prather Ranch beef patty, steamed rice, sunny egg, green onions and sweet soy. $10 Starbelly, San Francisco CA
Ugh, this was a joke! In my nostalgia for Hawaii, I was stupid enough to order a loco moco from Starbelly. The hamburger patty was tough and bland and there was no yummy gravy! And by the time it made it to the table, it was cold. Gross. I usually love this restaurant, but we were having brunch with a group and the service was terrible! They were super slow and inattentive. Also, more than one of our dishes came out overcooked and they even forgot a couple of our plates. Lame!
Muni wires criss-crossing the intersection at Market and Castro.
House made chorizo, eggs, corn chips, chile sauce and cilantro, house salad with goat cheese and tomatoes. $12 Starbelly, San Francisco CA
Noms, this was SO good! I loved the house made chorizo and the sauteed chilies mixed into the scramble. Mmm, I’m hungry just thinking about this dish again! Definitely not an authentic chilaquiles, but it was packed with delicious flavors.
Pink ‘Coral Seas’ passion flowers (Passiflora jamesonii, Passifloraceae), 25th Street. These passion vines are just around the corner from my house. I don’t think the color combinations are as dramatic as some other passion flowers, but I don’t mind. The solid pink petals are stil beautiful!
House pickled jalapeno and radicchio slaw, mixed greens salad with goat cheese and tomatoes, pickled jalapenos, limes. $9 Starbelly, San Francisco CA
I loved the texture of the fish, but they were difficult to taste among all the other ingredients. They were nicely cooked though and not greasy at all. The salad was actually my favorite part. The tomatoes and goat cheese were delicious!
Yellow, magenta and peach dahlia flowers (Dahlia sp., Asteraceae), Noe Street. Not many houses in my neighborhood have front yards, and while this one is just a small strip of grass, I like that they’ve planted these bright dahlias.
Point Reyes blue cheese, market pears, roasted onion, and arugula. $13 Starbelly, San Francisco CA
I usually love the pizzas at Starbelly, but I think this one was just ok. It was tasty, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve liked some of the other flavors better. I should have added their house-made bacon or something. That would have made it amazing!
Garage with bull artwork and poem, Valencia Street.
With lemon aioli. Half $4 Starbelly, San Francisco CA
Simple, delicious! The lemon aioli was a wonderfully falvored, light accompaniment. I love artichokes even though they’re a lot of work to prepare and eat. I guess that’s why I tend to order them out, not cook them myself. Hehe!
Sunrise from my balcony with a view of downtown. Ahh!
