Totally forgot that Codes was visiting this weekend so that should be fun. Don’t have to work as of now so it’ll be nice to relax and hang out with Silverfox and friends. I had a really good workout this morning and I like to think that people were checking me out, lol! Maybe I was just hallucinating cause I was starving again. Or maybe I just had booger hanging from my nose!

This place is gonna be the death of me! I’m always hungry after the gym and I walk by La Boulange and Noe Valley Bakery on the way home so I’m always tempted to grab something to snack on. This bande aux fruits was SO yummy and I loved the charred apricots on top.

Project 365: Day 29

I think I drank too much last night, lol! I was hurting this morning, but thank god I didn’t have to work until noon.

Last night we went to the Foodspotting Ball Ball held at their San Francisco office near the ballpark. We arrived a little early so we ducked into District to relax and grab a quick glass of wine. Brooklyn who I know from Cheer SF was working and took great care of us! We were only there quickly but he sat us at a reserved table and gave us great service. Thanks, Brooklyn! I’ve always liked that guy!

The Ball was ok. We talked to a few people and everyone seemed nice and were having a good time. There was free wine and beer and a few food items. I thought there would be more food though. They encouraged people to bring food items in the shape of balls but I only noticed I person who brought chocolate rice krispy balls. There may have been more people who brought stuff but I didn’t see them. Everybody seemed to be gathered around the Beretta table because they were serving their delicious dungeness crab arancinis with a calabrese aioli. Noms! Every time they would bring out a freshly fried batch, the crowd with greedily swoop in and leave the table barren once again. I’ll admit I had a couple of them. They were the only thing substantial to eat anyway.

Afterward, under the influence of wine, I had the great idea of going to Badlands for another drink. Bad move! We followed that with another drink at The Edge, then headed home and crawled into bed. Ahhh…

Noms! SO good, Arizmendi and getting back on my nommy list! I think there is coconut in this bread pudding too. I skipped the gym this morning because I wasn’t feeling so hot, and of course I ate crap all morning. On my way to Bart I went to Arizmendi and grabbed this bread pudding. Never had it before but it’s pretty darn tasty!

It’s been a boring day so I needed a little pick-me-up this afternoon. Solution: Starbucks run, lol! Haven’t had these cake pops yet so I decided to try one. The pink birthday cake pop was all they had left and it was pretty good. I’m glad that they have something that I actually like. Everything I’ve tried lately hasn’t been very good.

Oh, I’m super excited to attend the Foodspotting Ball Ball tonight! Gonna take Silverfox. I hope there’s a lot of yummy food and drinks!

Wow, it sure was cold this morning! My hands got frozen to and from the gym. It felt like I was back in Seattle. Maybe that’s my cue to move farther south, hehe!

Had a pretty good workout, but I feel like I’m not making it to the gym early enough so I’m rushing while I’m there. That’s not going to change because I hate getting out of bed. I was able to get a couple loads of laundry in while I was having coffee, though. Not mouch else happening today.

This was delicious! The consistency of the chocolate cream filling was just how I like it. I’m not a big fan of custardy fillings for eclairs. They remind me of Bismarck donuts, yuck! This filling was light and airy and nommy! There are SO many yummy pastries at La Boulange and it’s my goal to try all of them, lol!

I love that even if you’re buying just one eclair, La Boulange still takes the time to box it up and prevent the eclair from getting damaged in transit. Way to go, guys!

I hate Mondays! I really didn’t want to get out of bed this morning. But I dragged myself up and forced myself to the gym. Stopped by Subway on the way and grabbed a breakfast sandwich.

This weekend was pretty busy and I drank WAY too much. The bottomless mimosas at brunch yesterday got me really tired and I fell asleep early last night. Now back to the daily grind. I need to win the lottery, lol!

First time to have one of their breakfast sandwiches and it was pretty good! And the price was cheap for what you actually got. You had the option of getting egg whites but I opted for the regular egg. I’m glad I got this instead of a pastry from a coffee shop. I ate WAY too poorly this past weekend.

I only had a mild hang over this morning after my work birthday party last night. As much as I complain about work, I do like the people I work with. That’s comforting. I think everyone enjoyed themselves. I had enough food for everyone and I even sang a few songs on the Magic Mic, lol!

Of course I had to have another cocktail this morning while I finished cleaning up the apartment (see below). What?! It makes house work go by faster!

Then I headed out to Jones which is downtown in the Tenderloin/Union Square area to meet B2 for brunch. She’s so sweet! She wanted to take me out to brunch since she missed my actual birthday last weekend. I’ve never heard of this place but it’s actually really cool. The space is super cute and the vibe is young and energetic.

I didn’t focus much of the food since I was having such a great conversation with B2, but I think it was pretty good. And they have bottomless mimosas so you know we had that! We had such a great time catching up and talking that brunch lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes, nice! I need to hang out with B2 more often! No really, she’s an amazing person and we have a lot of common interests so it works.

Now I’m dreading work tomorrow, but at least I get to hang out with Silverfox tonight. I missed him while he was away.

Talk about hearty! This plate had SO much steak, then more sausage and pancetta added, geez! It was very good. I wish the egg had been poached so that it was runnier but that’s only a minor complaint.

We sat at the bar and the service was great. I would definitely go back for brunch. I’m not sure that they have full on dinner service. The interior is also very nice and I can see why this is a popular drinking spot!

Here’s the view from the balcony, which is a surprise because you actually have to walk down into the space from the street entrance. Because Jones Street is so steep, one end of the patio actually overlooks Geary Street. It’s very cool.

It’s a beautiful day this morning! I little chilly but the sun is shining bright and the air is fresh.

Went to Tartine Bakery around 8:15am and there was already a line out the door. I purchased this chocolate croissant and a cake for the work party tonight. I’m always surprised how much the cakes are. I mean they’re really good but a 12″ chocolate souffle cake for $62 still a lot!

Gonna be busy today. I have to clean the entire house, do laundry, work on the computer, order Filipino food and pick it up, make a grocery store run and everything else before people start arriving tonight. It’ll be fun though. Someone is bringing a Magic Mic so it’ll be a karaoke battle up in here, lol!

This is an expensive croissant, but I’ll admit that it’s totally worth it! It’s SO frickin’ flaky, buttery and delicious. Seriously, the flaky exterior falls apart just by looking at it. SO good!

My bicep was still hurting this morning. I started noticing it yesterday so I didn’t do any arm exercises at the gym today. I hope I didn’t tear it or anything!

It was also very difficult getting out of bed. It’s Friday and the prospect of the weekend was so soothing that I wanted to just stay in bed and wait for it to begin. Alas, I got up and started my day. Baby Girl needed to be taken outside and fed anyway, lol!

Hoping that work flies by today. Going straight home afterward and getting some laundry done. I also need to start cleaning the apartment for my work party tomorrow night. So excited about it, but also dreading the work that’s got to happen before it can happen. LOTS of cleaning!

This shot of espresso was a little sour to me! It didn’t have the depth of flavor that I expect in an espresso shot. I do love supporting Blue Bottle though and their coffee cart is convenient located near my gym. GCW – gym, coffee, work. 🙂  Rapunzel was chatting about Jersey Shore yesterday so now it’s stuck in my head. I called her a grenadine – that was kinda funny!

Project 365: Day 22

Today was another bike-to-work day! I didn’t have to work until noon so it was perfect to get some cardio in. I didn’t go to the gym in the morning, but stayed home and watched some tv and work on the computer. I was very productive!

The ride went fairly quickly, partly because there wasn’t too much wind. The 15 mile ride still took me over 50 minutes though. It’s a nice break from the gym. I don’t really have much more to report. My work vehicle got traded in for a newer one, so that was a little sad. I was emotionally attached to my work car, hehe! Now it will probably be auctioned off to a life of crime. 🙂

One more work day before the weekend – can’t wait! Work party at my place on Saturday, brunch with B2 on Sunday and possibly dinner with Hubbs. I know, my life is SO difficult! LOL

I really love this salad from Bakesale Betty. You get so much delicious fried chicken, and let me tell you, it’s pretty frickin’ delicious! What really surprises me is how amazing the coleslaw is! It’s vinegar based and not mayo based so it very light and the citrus-y. It definitely brightens up the salad and balances out the fried chicken. Get some of the hot sauce and dip the chicken pieces for the perfect bite!

Fresh fruit tartlet – Noe Valley Bakery

Project 365: Day 21

After leaving the gym, I started thinking about the late birthday party on Saturday that I’m having over at my place for some friends at work. I really don’t have anything for it yet and my apartment is a MESS! I thought that this would be less stressful than having dinner at a restaurant since everyone hates splitting the bill and there’s still someone who keeps underpaying (argh!).

I stopped by Noe Valley Bakery again because I initially thought I was going to get a bunch of their amazing cupcakes for the party, but they’re kind of expensive and my wallet is feeling overused lately. I checked out their book of cakes and thought I wanted one of them, but I’ve since decided that maybe I’ll just swing by Tartine Bakery on Saturday morning and grab whatever looks good. You can’t really go wrong with something from Tartine and I think pre-ordering something would just cause more stress and I don’t have the time.

Papa Chang and Rapunzel said that I shouldn’t worry about and just provide simple things like chips and other random snacks, but I always have to have food for guests – it’s the Filipino in me! Maybe I’ll stick to my original plan and have some Filipino food (lumpia and pancit), but just not order too much. Maybe people will bring food too. I just can’t spend too much money since I’m saving for all those trip’s coming up. I’ve also decided that I’m visiting Codes in Ohio for his 30th bday so that’s another unforeseen expense. It’ll be fun though and it’s always great seeing him.

Just made plans to have brunch with B2 on Sunday. She wants to take me out for a late birthday meal and to hear all about my Benu dinner. She loves food as much as I do so we’ll have a great time.

This tartlet beckoned to me from the counter display. The berries looks so sweet and luscious, especially with the apricot(?) glaze on top. It was very tasty ! The pastry shell could have been a little thinner but I really can’t complain too much about this scrumptious tart.

It’s been really hard getting back into the swing of things after my birthday weekend.

The dinner at Locanda with T-Head last night was absolutely delicious, by the way. And the restaurant isn’t as darkly lit as it appears from the outside. The service was great and the food was simple and amazing! Great place!

Oh, and I just found out today that the 7×7 Big Eat SF 2012 list came out and they have photos of each of the dishes. Apparently, they chose 7 of my food pics from last year! Amazing! I’m kinda annoyed that they don’t give photo credits anywhere, but they got the pics from my Foodspotting account so they probably don’t have to. Lame. I still posted the article on Twitter and Facebook though, hehe! I need to get the word out!

Roasted pork banh mi – Saigon Sandwich

Project 365: Day 19

I wasn’t feeling well this morning so I stayed in bed for most of the morning, then drove to the Little Saigon area in the Tenderloin to grab some banh mi. They were SO good. I proceeded to catch up of DVR all day and just generally relax so I could start feeling better. The last thing I need is to get sick right now. I need to remain healthy so I can get in great shape for the cruise, lol!

That and T-Head is taking me to Locanda tonight for a late birthday dinner. I’ve been wanting to try that place, but I know that it’s one of those super dark restaurants that you can barely see what your eating. I’ve mentioned this before, but I hate that! Isn’t part of enjoying your food is being able to see it! I ate at Bar Tartine which is near Locanda and that place was almost pitch black, argh! At least the food at Locanda should be very good. That’s what the reviews say anyway. I’ll be the judge of that!

I can understand why this is on the 7×7 Big Eat SF list. It’s super tasty and ONLY $3.50. I wasn’t too hungry but it’s a decent sized sandwich and I couldn’t finish it. The pork was very tender and flavorful and all the pickled vegetables, jalapenos and cilantro stuffed inside made it a very hearty meal. A winner!
