It’s been really hard getting back into the swing of things after my birthday weekend.

The dinner at Locanda with T-Head last night was absolutely delicious, by the way. And the restaurant isn’t as darkly lit as it appears from the outside. The service was great and the food was simple and amazing! Great place!

Oh, and I just found out today that the 7×7 Big Eat SF 2012 list came out and they have photos of each of the dishes. Apparently, they chose 7 of my food pics from last year! Amazing! I’m kinda annoyed that they don’t give photo credits anywhere, but they got the pics from my Foodspotting account so they probably don’t have to. Lame. I still posted the article on Twitter and Facebook though, hehe! I need to get the word out!

I went to Walgreens after the gym and HAD to get something from Noe Valley Bakery too, lol! This was a nice, small, delicious snack to tide me over while I walked home. Noms!

This was the best focaccia I’ve EVER tasted, no joke! It has an amazing texture and it’s SO amazingly buttery. Even though this was my second choice, I’m glad that I ordered the jalapeno cheese flavor. It had a great flavor and had a little bit of heat which I wasn’t expecting from a focaccia!

I’ll still sing the praises of this bread even though my store experience wasn’t all that great. I arrived around 1:15pm on a random Thursday. The old lady at the counter must have been cranky because it was nearing the end of her shift. I patiently wait for her to finish with the customer in front of me, then she glares at me and asks “What do you want!?” I ask for some of the black olive focaccia. She responds, “We’re out” and continues staring at me. I was a bit taken aback, but decide to forge on. I’ve decided that she’s not going to give me any more information so I ask, “Well what do you have left?” She grudgingly tells me and I decide on the jalapeno cheese. Omg, how ruuuuuude! How about some customer service here? I was waiting for her to completely roll her eyes at me as it could’ve happened easily.

Anyway, I get home with the focaccia and I’m blown away! The piece was big enough to into six pieces which I continue to hoard for the next few days. It even tasted great when reheated in the oven! I’ll definitely go back (but when I’m up for that lady’s look of death)!

These days before my birthday weekend are DRAGGING by! It’s painful, hehe.

Omg! Hubbs and I booked our flights to Dublin and London last night! I’m SO excited. We’re meeting Kryan and D-Dubbs in Ireland to celebrate Kry’s birthday, then heading to London to visit our friend D. Did I mention how excited it am?!?! The airfare did cost a pretty penny so I’m feeling a bit poor right now. Not the way to be when you have dinner at Benu coming up. Lol! So I’m gonna have a pretty busy Spring in terms of travel. I have a Caribbean cruise, a Europe trip, Las Vegas trip, and a possible trip to Ohio for a friend’s birthday. This is the most I’ll be travelling in a while! Heck yeah!

I stopped by La Boulange on the way home from the gym this morning and ordered what I thought was going to be a small snack because I was starving yet again. It ended up being an entire plate of food which I couldn’t finish. Gotta love breakfast at La Boulange though! The food is consistently good and super cheap. You get all this for $6.75! The frittata was a little overdone but it still tasted great. It was filled with lots of vegetables and topped with plenty of smoked salmon. The salad was good but overdressed.

Had a pretty tough time at the gym this morning. I felt really tired and weak. The 4 days off in Palm Springs without exercise really made a difference. I still tried to be productive though. I was STARVING after the gym so I made a quick grocery run at Whole Foods and grabbed a couple macaron flavors I haven’t tried yet from La Boulange.

It’s been super cold in San Francisco since I’ve been back. I was freezing on the way to the gym and had to wear a scarf. Although it was super cold, the light on our balcony was bright and made for these great pics. I’m gonna be taking plenty of morning food pics since I’m back to working nights.

I liked both of these flavors, but the coconut really knocked my socks off! It had great flavor and the texture from the coconut bits was fun. Although I like the rum raisin, I couldn’t have told you the flavor without knowing prior. It was a good, but indistinguishable.  $1.50 each

I usually love the items at Arizmendi, but this wasn’t very good. It tasted more like pizza than focaccia. I think the tomato sauce and mushrooms were a bit too much. The sauce gave the bread a damp texture and the marinated mushrooms tasted off. Even the spinach had a weird texture. Oh well…

Mmm, how I love Beard Papa’s cream puffs.  And vanilla is my favorite!  The chocolate custard has a weird grainy texture that I’m less partial to.  The choux pastry is SO frickin’ light and fluffy and the vanilla custard is yummy!  The dusting of powdered sugar adds a little more sweetness.  I can only purchase one at a time otherwise I tend to eat them all, hehe!

I’m not a huge fan of super sweet desserts so I love this tart at Mission Pie.  They don’t always have this flavor so don’t miss out on the thick slices of plums that are beautifully cooked and delicious! Mission Pie also buys their ingredients directly from farms and works closely with local non-profits.  Delicious desserts from a community conscious business – heck yeah!

I think this is the first time I’ve ever had this flavor combination in anything, and now I’m a huge fan!  They tasted great together and the donut was simply perfect.  The sugar glaze and pistachios added a great crunch, and while the lemon flavor was less pronounce it was very good.  This donut was fluffy, light and yummy – noms!

2 more delicious macarons from La Boulange!  In a little bit, I’ll have tried all the flavors.  I’m a huge fan of pistachio macarons, but the cherry macaron was also very good.  I thought the lil’ pink sugary bits were a cute touch.  The pistachio macaron had a beautiful light green color and it tasted amazing.  Noms!  $1.50 each
