Lemon poppy seed donut – Philz Coffee

Lemon poppy seed donut - Philz Coffee
Philz serves a variety of vegan organic donuts Pepples Donuts. $2.
Small mocha tesora coffee. $3
Philz Coffee, San Francisco CA

Pepples donuts are cakey and pretty much covered in glaze. While I enjoy that they’re vegan and organic, that thick sweet sugary glaze was just too much! Philz coffee is still my favorite. I swear there’s crack in it or something, lol!

Chicken McNuggets – McDonald’s

Chicken McNuggets - McDonald's
“Tender, juicy Chicken McNuggets made with white meat, wrapped in a crisp tempura batter Made for sharing, if you want ’em all to yourself, then that’s our little secret.” With tangy barbeque dipping sauce. 950 calories, 60 g fat. 20 piece $4.99
McDonald’s, South San Francisco CA

The product descriptions on company websites are always SO funny. We all know that McNuggets are rarely tender or juicy and the spongy meat puree they’re made of no longer resembles white chicken meat. But I’ll admit that my brain has subscribed to all the advertisements since childhood and I sporadically crave these horrible snacks. I was particularly hungry so I ordered the 20 piece, lol! What?! It’s a value! 🙂

Tacos Chava’s – Chava’s Restaurant

Tacos Chava's - Chava's Restaurant
Beef, bell pepper, onion, tomato, and mushroom. Served with rice and refried beans. $8.75
Chava’s Restaurant, San Francisco CA

Ugh, this was the first time I’ve been here and I wasn’t impressed. The beef was super chewy and the whole thing just had a weird flavor. You should never name a dish after your restaurant if it isn’t very good. 😦

Tortilla chips and salsa - Chava's Restaurant
Tortilla chips and salsa. These chips tasted old and were stale, ew.

Pad thai – Pad Thai Restaurant

Pad thai - Pad Thai Restaurant
Stir fried rice sticker noodles with shrimp, egg, fried tofu, scallion, ground peanut and bean sprouts. $8.50
Pad Thai Restaurant, San Francisco CA

This restaurant’s pad thai always has a lot of flavor, but sometimes it can be on the dry side. This time around, the shrimp and eggs were overcooked. Ugh!

Boudin blanc sausage – Pig and Pie

Boudin blanc sausage - Pig and Pie
Shallot confit, arugula, mayo, preserved lemon. $9
Pig & Pie, San Francisco CA

Mmm, this was VERY good! My one food critique would be that the sausage could have been seared a little more – it was difficult to tear through the skin. I also had to wait a REALLY long time for it, but I guess this was OK since it was yummy!

Home corned beef hash – Red Cafe

Home corned beef hash - Red Cafe
Fresh mushrooms, onion, tomato, two poached eggs, and cheddar cheese. Served with hash browns and wheat toast. $8.25
Red Cafe, San Francisco CA

This small, busy neighborhood diner in the Mission serves delicious breakfast standards at very reasonable prices. The service is friendly and quick, but be prepared to wait unless you can squeeze yourself into the counter since this place is a popular breakfast joint. My food was no-frills, straight forward, and tasty.

Wheat toast - Red Cafe

Beef panang curry – Pad Thai Restaurant

Beef panang curry - Pad Thai Restaurant
Beef in chili sauce with ground peanut, bell pepper, kaffir lime leaves and fresh basil with coconut cream. $9.50
Pad Thai Restaurant, San Francisco CA

Beef panang curry - Pad Thai Restaurant
Panang curry is probably my favorite type of Thai curry. I love that Pad Thai will actually add some real heat to their dishes when you request them “spicy”. Mmm!

Sweet summer corn ice cream – Humphry Slocombe

Sweet summer corn ice cream - Humphry Slocombe
This had great flavor, but I was disappointed by its texture. It wasn’t waxy like some of the other scoops I’ve had here, but it was icy and very crumbly. Humphry Slocombe seems to be very inconsistent with their ice cream and I haven’t been blown away during any of my recent visits. Single scoop $3.25

Super burrito al pastor - Taqueria Cancun
Marinated pork with rice, beans, cilantro, salsa, onions, cheese, avocado, and sour cream. Served with corn totilla chips. $6.50
Taqueria Cancun, San Francisco CA

Wow, this place is a mad house at 2 AM! I was in desparate need of food so I stumbled into this joint for a large, delicious burrito. I’m pretty sure it was good, I think… Lol! The intercom announcing the order numbers is REALLY loud, but I supposed that’s necessary at that hour. 🙂

The Monkeybutts, Sunday Streets Mission
The Monkeybutts! I thought this was quite the band during Sunday Streets in the Mission. They were playing in front of the SF Library Mission Branch to the delight of many kids and parents.
