Wafu salad – Izakaya Takonoki

Wafu salad - Izakaya Takonoki
Baby spinach, radish, tofu, tomato with sesame shoyu dressing. $8.50
Izakaya Takonoki, Honolulu HI

This was ok, nothing special. I actually would have preferred it if the salad came tossed and with smaller pieces of fresh tofu.

Royce’s spicy nachos – Giovanni Pastrami

Royce's spicy nachos - Giovanni Pastrami
A giant plate of homemade tortilla chips covered in a pepper jack cheese sauce, spicy taco-seasoned natural black angus ground beef, tomatoes, onions, guacamole, sour cream, and green onions. $15
Giovanni Pastrami, Honolulu HI

This was definitely a largo plate of nachos, but it wasn’t very good. The seasoned ground beef wasn’t spicy at all at the pepper jack cheese sauce was super bland. Lame!

Barry B. sandwich – Ike’s Place

Barry B. sandwich - Ike's Place
Bacon, turkey, swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomato, dirty on Dutch crunch bread. $8.98
Ike’s Place, San Francisco CA

I never like Barry Bonds, and it appears that neither does Ike’s. I guess that’s why they fill the sandwich with turkey. Regardless, Ike’s makes a killer sandwich that tastes amazing despite the less than stellar eponym.

Grilled Manhattan Farms chicken – Staple & Fancy

Grilled Manhattan Farms chicken - Staple & Fancy
Pureed eggplant, padron, peppers, roasted tomatoes, aged balsamic vinegar. Family style supper $46 per person
Staple and Fancy, Seattle WA

This chicken was super moist and tender, but I would have liked it more if the skin had been crispier. I love padron peppers so it was great to have a pile of them on the board, and the pureed eggplant was surprisingly tasty.

Say Hey sandwich – Ike’s Place

Say Hey sandwich - Ike's Place
Bacon, pastrami, swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomato, dirty on Dutch crunch bread. $8.98
Ike’s Place, San Francisco CA

I will reiterate that the sandwiches at Ike’s are delicious! They’re quite substantial too, but I guess they should be at this higher price range.

Colorful sunrise from my balcony. I know I post a lot of these pics, but sometimes I wake up in the morning and am absolutely amazed at the beautiful show outside.

Grilled mackerel – Staple & Fancy

Grilled mackerel - Staple & Fancy
Hazelnut, cherry tomato, salsa verde, pesto and shallots. Family style supper $46 per person
Staple and Fancy, Seattle WA

This tasted good, but I wasn’t a fan of the fish texture. It was an odd combination of flaky and mushy. I loved the sauces and garnishes though, hehe.

Heirloom tomato and fresh mozzarella salad - Lark Creek Grill
Mmm, I love heirloom tomatoes! This was actually a really great dish from an airport restaurant, but everything is better at T2 at SFO. They had a great tomato variety in the dish too. Noms!

Brunch cocktails – Twenty Five Lusk

S.F. Yacht Club cocktail - Twenty Five Lusk

S.F. Yacht Club: vodka, grapefruit, cucumber, lemon, lime, mint. Gilt City brunch menu
Twenty Five Lusk, San Francisco CA

I thought this cocktail would be more refreshing and would knock my socks off, but it didn’t. It was pretty to look at, but fell flat in the taste department which is surprising considering the great combination of ingredients.

Lusk Bloody Mary - Twenty Five Lusk

Lusk Bloody Mary: vodka, roasted tomatoes, lemon, roasted garlic, thai chili paste, aged balsamic vinegar.

Mmm, this bloddy mary delicious! I sometimes buy the daily deal certificates for restaurants I haven’t tried, and I have to say that I was really impressed with this Gilt buy for Twentry Five Lusk. We had a great time, the food was delicious (for the most part), and the service was friendly and professional. I’d definitely got back for more!

They cook their patties to medium and it was very juicy and tender, noms! I don’t even mind that the burger was mini because with the fries, pickles and drink it was plenty of food for me.

Mini cheeseburger combo - Super Duper Burgers
This is a pretty yummy plate for a cheat meal. I’d rather eat at Super Duper than some fast food joint.
