This was the Taco of the Week. Omg, these were SO frickin’ good!!! I could have eaten 10 of these! The pork belly wasn’t overly fatty, but it was SO flavorful and tender. It’s a little bit pricey for a taco, but I’m gonna say it was worth it. Noms!

Trio of salsas. I love the salsa that came with the taco. They ranged from mild, medium and hot but none of them were really that hot. They were flavorful though and each of them distinct.

I’ve never had the Maui Zaui, but omg, it was darn good! I don’t usually order pizza from chain restaurants unless I’m super starving and feeling really poor (hehe). There are just so many great pizza places in San Francisco – think Delfina Pizzeria, Little Star, Patxi’s, Ragazza, etc. I feel a little guilty that I enjoyed this pizza so much. The crust was on the thinner side and it was jam packed with all my favorite toppings! Noms!

Project 365: Day 22

Today was another bike-to-work day! I didn’t have to work until noon so it was perfect to get some cardio in. I didn’t go to the gym in the morning, but stayed home and watched some tv and work on the computer. I was very productive!

The ride went fairly quickly, partly because there wasn’t too much wind. The 15 mile ride still took me over 50 minutes though. It’s a nice break from the gym. I don’t really have much more to report. My work vehicle got traded in for a newer one, so that was a little sad. I was emotionally attached to my work car, hehe! Now it will probably be auctioned off to a life of crime. 🙂

One more work day before the weekend – can’t wait! Work party at my place on Saturday, brunch with B2 on Sunday and possibly dinner with Hubbs. I know, my life is SO difficult! LOL

I really love this salad from Bakesale Betty. You get so much delicious fried chicken, and let me tell you, it’s pretty frickin’ delicious! What really surprises me is how amazing the coleslaw is! It’s vinegar based and not mayo based so it very light and the citrus-y. It definitely brightens up the salad and balances out the fried chicken. Get some of the hot sauce and dip the chicken pieces for the perfect bite!

Lobster roll – We’re On A Roll

Project 365: Day 16

It started raining last night and has continued raining today! Not very hard though, more like a sprinkle. I’m from Seattle, I’m used to the real stuff!

Today is the eve of my Birthday Weekend! Yay!!! So for lunch I decided to treat myself to a lobster roll from We’re On a Roll. It’s a food stand in front of New England Lobster Company. I needed a little pick-me-from to combat the gloomy weather. It IS almost my birthday, you know. Hehe! This is the first time I’ve been to this stand, but I’m so glad they’re here. There’s nothing else nearby except fast food joint and mediocre sandwich shops. It’s nice to have a nicer alternative.

The office also surprised me with a birthday cake from Suzanne’s Cake & Pastry in Millbrae. And I have to admit that I was truly surprised – I wasn’t expecting it. That was super sweet!

At first I thought that this was a little overpriced. That’s a lot for lunch in South San Francisco! But you do get the side of coleslaw and chips, and there’s a lot of delicious lobster in that roll! They have the chopped vegetables in front of their lunch trailer so you can add as much or as little as you like.

They also have picnic tables nearby where you can eat your delicious roll, but since it was raining I ate mine in the car. Yum! I’d go back.

Project 365: Day 11

Ok, so I’ve failed! I didn’t get this post out yesterday, but you know what? I’m still gonna move forward with my Project 365. We ended up partying a little too hard at Toucan’s last night so I completely forgot to post this, but I’ve noticed that some people post on a weekly basis. At least I’m only a day late.

We had a pretty full day yesterday. Had brunch at Cheeky’s, then went shopping at the Cabazon outlets (bought a couple cute t-shirts), had tacos at Crazy Coyote tacos, then happy hour drinks and food at The Tropicale, then more drinks and played trivia at Toucan’s. The last couple times I’ve been at Toucan’s, I’ve run into old friends. Previously it was old Seattle friends who now live in Los Angeles, and last night I ran into MT from San Francisco. Fun! He seemed very happy!

Palm Springs weekends always fly by way too quickly!  😦

Cheeky’s is currently my favorite brunch spot in Palm Springs. Next time we’re down, we’re gonna try Jake’s next door. I must say that I’m not very impressed with the overall food scene in Palm Springs, but the food at Cheeky’s is consistently good. The service is friendly and there’s always great people watching. And I LOVE their bacon flight (post to come). The chilaquiles were pretty good. I liked the chorizo and the tomatillo was a nice surprise. I’m used to chilaquiles having a red sauce. Overall, the plate was bright and fresh. Just want I needed after the previous day’s debacle at Pinocchio. My only complaint is that some of the tortilla chips were very over-fried.

This was a fresh and delicious salad! You can see that they put a large avocado half on top – that’s a lot of avocado, noms!  The salad was dressed perfectly with Caesar dressing (not too heavily), and the diced tomatoes and red onion helped to brighten the flavors. I would definitely order this again!

Can you say comfort food?!  In my opinion, this huge bowl of pozole is one of the best in the city!  The broth is pretty amazing and oh so flavorful.  I always squeeze the entire lime into the soup and throw in all the extras.  They give you nice and thick tortilla chips that retain their crispness even after sitting in the pozole for a while.

I have never seen this particular combination of ingredients.  It’s SO good!  I think the queso fresco and chile powders totally make the dish.  The plate is bright and vibrant and the beets are oranges taste amazing.  Perhaps the lime wedge is over kill though, there’s already enough acid fromt he oranges and pickled onions.

You can’t go wrong with smoked salmon, onions and capers!  Add a poached egg and hollandaise sauce and you have an even better combination!  These eggs benedicts are filling and refreshing at the same time.  David always opts for the salad – he does eat healthier than me, hehe.

I’m not sure what’s in this rice that makes it Peruvian, but it tasted pretty good.  It wasn’t as tomato-y as Mexican rice I guess, and they must use different spices.

This is a large burger made decadent with the addition of Choron sauce, apple wood bacon and Morbier cheese.  You could even add seared foie gras for $5!  The lightly dressed frisée salad helped to balance out the heavy burger.  No point in counting calories here, especially with a large bowl of French fries!
