I am torn about this place. The food was decent, but the wervice was really mixed. I think the two owners(?) were running service that morning and the older white-haired man was really nice, but the younger dark-haired man was rude and unattentive. I liked the variety of this breakfast platter, but I’m still not certain that the cheese was actually goat cheese. I asked for confirmation, but the affirmative still seemed unsure. It’s also really dark in the back so you should request to sit outside or near the front if you want to enjoy the bright sunny weather for a leisurely weekend brunch. Otherwise, it feels like you’re dining in a cave.

Korean bbq dinner with work peeps – YakiniQ BBQ

There’s usually an occasion to warrant a work dinner for our group, but this time around I think we just wanted to grab some Korean BBQ in Japantown. What?! We don’t have a Korea-town in San Francisco, hehe. I’d never been to this restaurant, but it’s one of those places that’s all-you-can-eat for a set price. Or at least all-you-can-eat when the service feels like refilling your table. I’m not complaining, we had plenty to eat as you will see. Overall, I enjoyed the food and it’s always fun to hang out with my work peeps and their significant others. The grill is located in the center of the table and it does get dirty throughout the night, but they periodically replace the grill top. At one point, we had too much meat in the center which choked out the flame, so a server had to relight it. Oops! I tried to get a pic of everything we ordered, and I was mostly successful. We kept ordering multiple plates at once so it was a little difficult. You’ll get the general idea of the evening’s dining experience though, hehe!

Hite beer in a Cass glass beer glass. It was my first time trying this beer and I enjoyed it. It was light and didn’t make me burp as much as other beers, lol!

Now this is what I call a breakfast! The eggs were scrambled perfectly – so light and fluffy. The chorizo sausage had a great sear and amazing flavor. The hash browns were just the way I like it and Acme bread is always a bonus. NOMS!!!

I enjoyed just about everything I had at Toast, but this was probably my least favorite item. It was a little too tart for me and I don’t know what the tuna was confit(ed?) in, I’m guessing oil, but it did nothing to improve its flavor and texture. The albacore was actually a bit dry. Besides the beautifully cooked egg, this was kind of boring.

This restaurant’s pad thai always has a lot of flavor, but sometimes it can be on the dry side. This time around, the shrimp and eggs were overcooked. Ugh!

This small, busy neighborhood diner in the Mission serves delicious breakfast standards at very reasonable prices. The service is friendly and quick, but be prepared to wait unless you can squeeze yourself into the counter since this place is a popular breakfast joint. My food was no-frills, straight forward, and tasty.

Another delicious brunch dish! I particularly liked the nice sear on the chicken sausage. Everything was super flavorful and tasted fresh and spring-y.

Castro Castle Guest House, 17th Street. I’ve always thought that this building was super cheesy looking and out of place. But I appreciate that it has SO much character. I don’t think I’d ever want to stay here though.

Omg, this was SO good and everything was cooked beautifully! The duck was delicious as were the poached eggs. The five spice cracklings were a fun and yummy addition.

When the side salad is the best part of your meal, there’s something wrong. The housemade English muffin was dense, doughy and undercooked, the tomato confit was on the sour side, and the porchetta was too fatty and extremely difficult to chew.

Mmm, this was good. Very delcious and comforting food. I kinda wish the salmon was in bigger chunks but I understand that it was a hash. It was also very pretty with the salsa verde on the poached eggs.

I really liked this omelette. It had simple ingredients, but it was executed perfectly. The egg was fluffy and I really enjoyed the peppery arugula folded inside.

This wasn’t what I thought it was gonna be, hehe! I thought it was gonna be more of a hash. The baked tomatoes, olives, and sauage are actually underneath the eggs and they tasted weird. I think it was kind of an odd combination of flavors and would have worked better as a hash anyway.
