Made fresh daily. 5 oz crab cake served with potato chips, tartar sauce and crackers. $15

Mmm, this crab cakes was SO delicious! It was mostly crab with very little filler, and it was fried perfectly. It was very moist and not greasy. I could have done without the potato chips (maybe that’s a local thing).

Crab cake and fried green tomato eggs benedict – Miss Shirley’s Cafe

Crab cake and fried green tomato eggs benedict - Miss Shirley's Cafe
Poached eggs, mini jumbo lump crab cakes on fried green tomatoes, with black eyed pea succotash, asparagus, Old Bay hollandaise sauce, dusted with Old Bay.
Miss Shirley’s Cafe, Baltimore MD

Omg, this was A LOT of food! And it was all pretty heavy. The succotash was a little too starchy to provide any break from the heaviness of this dish. The components tasted good though. I think they could have done without the 2 additional fried green tomatoes on the side though.

Bun rieu. Signature noodle soup topped with crab omelette, curled cabbage, housemade pork meatballs, tomatoes, fresh herbs, and silky rice noodles. $9.50

This soup was really tasty and surprisingly light even with all the different toppings. The crab omelette was a winner and really took me back to childhood when we would makes these for days after a crabbing outing. The pork meatballs were also very good and added another dimension to the delicious soup.

Fritto misto – Pesce

Fritto misto - Pesce
Calamari, shrimp, fennel, green beans, zucchini, marinara. $14
Pesce, San Francisco CA

Mmm, I love fritto mistos! Who doesn’t love a plate of battered and deep fried seafood and vegetables?! I thought the marinara sauce was a little lame, but I’m not gonna complain too much. πŸ™‚

Tiger roll – Wasabi Bistro

Tiger roll - Wasabi Bistro
Shrimp tempura, topped with snow crab and walnut. $13
Wasabi Bistro, San Francisco CA

Ugh, I was not a fan of the abundant, goopy white sauce on top. It reminded me of condensed milk (among other things) and it tasted a little sweet too. It definitely turned me off. I tried a piece and left the rest for the table.

Spicy tuna specialty roll – Barracuda Sushi

Spicy tuna specialty roll - Barracuda Sushi
California roll topped with spicy tuna, tobiko, unagi sauce. Pre fixe dinner
Barracuda Sushi, San Francisco CA

This roll wasn’t very creative with its standard components, but I liked the flavors nonetheless. It’s not very authentic, but spicy tuna is always a safe bet (especially is if there’s any doubt in the freshness of the fish, not that Barracuda uses bad fish).

San Francisco-style cioppino – The Rotunda

San Francisco-style cioppino - The Rotunda
Mussels, clams, shrimp, dungeness crab, halibut, tomato-oregano broth, sourdough roll. $27
The Rotunda, San Francisco CA

This cioppino was good, but I was honestly surprised that it wasn’t better! I expected it to be AMAZING for almost thirty bucks. The ingredients were nice but I wasn’t blown away by the broth. It lack the all the flavor and depth that I was looking for. The mussels were also a little overdone.

Radio Africa & Kitchen, San Francisco CA

The artichoke soup was really delicious, and nice and warm. The butternut squash soup on the other hand was cold and not very appetizing because of it. Thank goodness there were two to choose from.

Barracuda Sushi, San Francisco CA

Japanese cowboy beef roll - Barracuda Sushi
This rolls sounds amazing and it was actually very tasty, but I think that there was WAY too many things packed inside. I really couldn’t taste many of the ingredients individually and forgot that some of them were even in there. The beef was the dominant flavor and it was a little on the salty side. The roll was good but I probably wouldn’t order it again.
