Dragon roll – Wasabi Bistro

Dragon roll - Wasabi Bistro
Shrimp tempura roll topped with unagi, avocado, tobiko. $14
Wasabi Bistro, San Francisco CA

Dragon rolls served at most Japanese restaurants tend to be similar and they’re all pretty good. I mean it has fried things and salty things and plenty of different textures! It’s really a no-brainer as a crowd pleaser. This was a yummy version and a great size.

Spicy tuna specialty roll – Barracuda Sushi

Spicy tuna specialty roll - Barracuda Sushi
California roll topped with spicy tuna, tobiko, unagi sauce. Pre fixe dinner
Barracuda Sushi, San Francisco CA

This roll wasn’t very creative with its standard components, but I liked the flavors nonetheless. It’s not very authentic, but spicy tuna is always a safe bet (especially is if there’s any doubt in the freshness of the fish, not that Barracuda uses bad fish).

Red dragon & Reward rolls - Barracuda Sushi
The rolls at Barracuda are always pretty tasty and large, but you’d expect that at this above-average price point. I do like that they offer plenty of fried (tempura) roll options for my fat-craving self, lol! Their flavor combinations are also inventive and varied.

Tarantula roll – Rikki Rikki

Tarantula roll - Rikki Rikki
Panko breaded soft shell crab, jalapeno, avocado, masago, chili sauce, and spicy mayonnaise. Happy hour $5.95
Rikki Rikki, Kirkland WA

I really loved this roll (and for less than six bucks)! It was a nice change to have the soft shell crab covered in panko. Usually they’re tempura battered and fried. The panko gave it a different texture and flavor to the sushi roll. Noms!
