Ham scrambler – Toast Eatery

Ham scrambler - Toast Eatery
Scrambled eggs with ham, tomato, green onions, and swiss cheese. Served with hashbrowns and fruit (pineapple, blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, cantaloupe, honeydew melon). $11
Toast Eatery, San Francisco CA

Although the fruit is an extra $1.50 substitution, I like that they include plenty of berries! I hate it when restaurants only give you melons as a fruit bowl.

Ca kho to – Ben Tre

Ca kho to - Ben Tre
Catfish clay pot simmered in traditional homestyle sauce and garlic, spinkled with black pepper, served with a bowl of steamed jasmine rice. $11.25
Ben Tre Vietnamese Homestyle Cuisine, South San Francisco CA

This was one of the saddest clay pots I’ve had in a while! The three pieces of fish were SUPER small and most of the liquid in the sauce had been cooked down too much making it SUPER salty, yuck! I expected more substance from this dish. Don’t think I’ll be ordering this again!

Hot link scrambler – Toast Eatery

Hot link scrambler - Toast Eatery
Scrambled eggs with hot link sausage, peppers, spinach, onions, and pepper jack cheese. Served with hashbrowns and wheat toast. $9.50
Toast Eatery, San Francisco CA

I enjoy that there are 2 Toast Eateries in Noe Valley. With all the yuppies and their kids runnning around and very few brunch spots, my neighborhood definitely needs both locations. The fare is standard, but the prices are great and the atmosphere is lively.

House coffee - Toast Eatery

Our Lady San Francisco graffiti mural, Cunningham Place
Our Lady San Francisco graffiti mural, Cunningham Place. Ok, I made up the name for this artwork in The Mission district, but it does apear to be a human manifestion of our beloved City protecting her homeless and artisans.

Turkish bread – Tuba Restaurant and Grill

Turkish bread - Tuba Restaurant and Grill
Served with flavored butter, olives, and crumbly cheese (feta?). Complimentary.
Tuba Restaurant and Grill, San Francisco CA

As complimentary bread goes, these were frickin’ amazing! I don’t think I’ve really had Turkish bread before (that I can remember), and it was really good! The bread is flavorful enough on its own but I love the extras that it comes with too.

Trailing African daisy (Osteospermum fruticosum, Asteraceae)
Trailing African daisy (Osteospermum fruticosum, Asteraceae), Dolores Street. I love this ornamental flower! The mature petals fold back onto themselves and create an awesome visual effect.

Mission Dolores High School
Mission Dolores High School. Coming from a small town, it amazes me that city kids get to attend really cool high schools in historic buildings. I guess it’s probably lost on them at the moment, but they’ll appreciate it later in life.

Los numeros #3 – Zapata Mexican Grill

Los numeros #3 - Zapata Mexican Grill
Carne asada (grilled skirt steak), grilled fish and prawns with rice, black beans, salad, guacamole and sour cream. $12.75
Zapata Mexican Grill, San Francisco

Wow, there was A LOT of food on that plate! The proteins were definitely on the salty side, but still flavorful. The fish was a bit overcooked, but the prawns were perfect.

Chips and salsa - Zapata Mexican Grill
Chips and salsa. Complimentary.

Mural of Market Street, Church Street
Mural of Market Street, Church Street. This artwork is pretty cool – I like how they switch up the scene from panel to panel.

2 item combo – Fung Lum Express

2 item combo - Fung Lum Express
With sweet and sour spare ribs, orange chicken, and vegetable fried rice.
Fung Lum Express, San Francisco (SFO)

The Chinese food here is sad and pathetic. If you want your week’s worth of sodium, then grab a plate at Fung Lum. The food quality is super low and most items are overcooked and dry. Lame!
