Evening drinks – Perry’s

Gold Rush cocktail - Perry's
Gold Rush: Four Rose’s bourbon, honey syrup, lemon. $10
Perry’s, San Francisco CA

This place is an interesting mix of locals and tourists. The bartenders are all pretty nice and professional which is what really counts! I’m really liking the combination of bourbon and lemon lately.

Gloria Ferrer Brut - Perry's
Gloria Ferrer Brut sparkling wine. $10

Lobster ceviche – 1760

Lobster ceviche - 1760
Caramelized coconut, pineapple, kaffir lime. $17
1760, San Francisco CA

I think that this dish was pretty to look at, but it didn’t taste very good. I don’t think that all the tropical flavors really accentuated the lobster, and the sticky white sauce on the bottom was just weird and had a off-putting texture. I couldn’t even recognize some of the ingredients and was left wondering what exactly went wrong.

Cheese amuse bouche - 1760
Cheese bites with sweet jelly, micro basil. Complimentary

Spicy tuna specialty roll – Barracuda Sushi

Spicy tuna specialty roll - Barracuda Sushi
California roll topped with spicy tuna, tobiko, unagi sauce. Pre fixe dinner
Barracuda Sushi, San Francisco CA

This roll wasn’t very creative with its standard components, but I liked the flavors nonetheless. It’s not very authentic, but spicy tuna is always a safe bet (especially is if there’s any doubt in the freshness of the fish, not that Barracuda uses bad fish).

Ostrega oyster shots – Pesce

Ostrega oyster shots - Pesce
With cucumber, cocktail sauce, horseradish. Each $3
Pesce, San Francisco CA

I don’t know about these. I’m not a big horseradish fan with oysters and these just had a lot of murky liquid in the glass that scared me off. I definitely spent more time worrying about taking the oyster shot than actually enjoying it. It wasn’t bad, but my it was too much work for me to shoot it.

Bad Boy cocktail - Pesce
Bad Boy: Tito’s vodka, tobacco leaf tincture, orange bitters. $10

Teriyaki chicken plate – Ono Hawaiian BBQ

Teriyaki chicken plate - Ono Hawaiian BBQ
Grilled boneless chicken with house teriyaki sauce, served with two scoops of rice, one scoop macaroni salad, and vegetables.
Ono Hawaiian BBQ, San Francisco CA

Meh, I wasn’t too impressed with this. The chicken was a bit dry and the teriyaki sauce too salty. I think I’ll stick to their regular bbq items next time.

Hanoi style beef noodle soup – Basil Leaf Asian Cuisine

Hanoi style beef noodle soup - Basil Leaf Asian Cuisine
Pho bo. Lightly stir-fried eye round steak, ginger and garlic served with fresh noodle. Small $7.50
Basil Leaf Asian Cuisine, Fremont CA

This soup was pretty good, but I didn’t like that the beef weren’t all sliced in cross section so that some of the slices were a bit difficult to chew. The broth had great flavor though!

Basil, sprouts, and lime - Basil Leaf Asian Cuisine
Basil, sprouts, and lime.

Baby arugula salad – Pesce

Baby arugula salad - Pesce
Rucoletta. Shaved fennel, parmesan, oil, lemon. $7
Pesce, San Francisco CA

Mmm, I love peppery arugula simply dressed and topped with parmesan shavings. These basic flavors are work perfectly together and whet the appetite for more to come.

Jeepney Gimlet cocktail - Pesce
Jeepney Gimlet: Swan’s Neck vodka, coconut water nectar, lime, Batavia. $10
Not too impressed with this cocktail – it was off tasting.
