Chorizo jalapeno tartine – Griddle Fresh

Chorizo jalapeno tartine - Griddle Fresh
Pepper jack scramble, chorizo and roasted jalapeno relish, chipotle aioli on a brioche bun, potato wedges, cantaloupe. $12
Griddle Fresh, San Francisco CA

First of all, the service here was SO horrible! They were super slow and completely unattentive. It was the hardest I’ve had to work to flag a server down every time I needed something. Now to the food. It gave me heartburn. Between the spicy chorizo, spicy jalapeno, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle aioli there was SO much heavy spice and fat that I really couldn’t take it. On a positive note, the scramble was well cooked, the bun nicely toasted, and the cantaloupe was ripe and sweet.

Chilaquiles – Luna Park

Chilaquiles - Luna Park
Tortilla chips, eggs, beans, queso fresco, salsa fresca. $13.95
Luna Park, San Francisco CA

There was certainly a lot of food on this plate! I just wish it tasted a little better. The sauce was on the bland side and the eggs were on the verge of being overcooked. It’s a great value, but probably one I wouldn’t order again.

Veal and ricotta meatballs – Alicante

Veal and ricotta meatballs - Alicante
Spaghetti, tomato, parmigiano-reggiano cheese, basil. Half order $8
Alicante, Palm Springs CA

A half order only got you one meatball which was kinda lame, but the singular meatball was tasty and tender. Still, it’s all pasta and the meatball just looked lonely so I don’t think I’d order this again.

Mexican pizza – Taco Bell

Mexican pizza - Taco Bell
Two crispy pizza shells filled with seasoned beef, hearty beans and then topped with pizza sauce, a three cheese blend melted to perfection, and topped with diced ripe tomatoes. 550 calories, 31g fat
Taco Bell, Palm Springs CA

It’s that time again when I end up at Taco Bell late at night to have a “fourth meal” (which in my case is usually a seventh meal, lol)! I know that you all have fast food cravings every now and then, so don’t judge. πŸ˜‰

First crop fig and burrata - Jardiniere
Mmm, silky burrata! I’ve actually never thought of pairing fig with burrata before but it’s a delicious combination. I appreciated the variety of textures and flavors in the dish and everything worked well together.

Carne asada nachos – Eureka Restaurant and Lounge

Carne asada nachos - Eureka Restaurant and Lounge
With spicy slaw, bbq sauce, cilantro, pickled onions and ricotta salata. $7
Eureka Restaurant & Lounge, San Francisco CA

Wow, I was a bit shocked when this arrived to the table and there were only 4 tortilla chips on the plate, lol! But I have to say that they were really filling, and pretty tasty! I tend to overeat so I was secretly relieved that there was just enough to taste and enjoy. πŸ™‚

Ham and cheese strata – Rustic Bakery

Ham and cheese strata - Rustic Bakery
Savory layers of ham and cheese and foccacia bread. $3.95
Rustic Bakery, Novato CA

This was a lot denser than I was expecting. The focaccia was really heavy and there wasn’t enough ham and cheese to break it up. The strata was also pretty dry so I wish I had also ordered an ice coffee.

Hawaiian slice – Escape From New York Pizza

Hawaiian slice - Escape From New York Pizza
Canadian bacon, pineapple and cheese. $4.25
Escape From New York Pizza, San Francisco CA

Hawaiian pizzas have always been a favorite of mine ever since I was a kid. I love the combination of salty Canadian bacon with the sweet chunks of pineapple. Serve it on a thin crust like those at Escape From New York and you have a winner!

Fried plantain and black bean burrito – The Little Chihuahua

Fried plantain and black bean burrito - The Little Chihuahua
With cheese, roasted red bell peppers, rice, sour cream, smoky chile salsa, pico de gallo and fresh cilantro and onion. $9.95
The Little Chihuahua, San Francisco

Wow, this burrito is definitely filling! I guess you don’t find a lot of fried plantain burritos in The City and maybe that’s why it’s on the 7×7 Big Eat List, but this isn’t my favorite item on their menu. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good but I actually expected it to be a little more flavorful.

Chips and salsa - The Little Chihuahua
Chips and with habanero and chipotle salsas. Complimentary
I like that Little Chihuahua has a salsa bar, but I’m not impressd with the options. All the salsa tend to be on the sour side.
