Grilled Manhattan Farms chicken – Staple & Fancy

Grilled Manhattan Farms chicken - Staple & Fancy
Pureed eggplant, padron, peppers, roasted tomatoes, aged balsamic vinegar. Family style supper $46 per person
Staple and Fancy, Seattle WA

This chicken was super moist and tender, but I would have liked it more if the skin had been crispier. I love padron peppers so it was great to have a pile of them on the board, and the pureed eggplant was surprisingly tasty.

Ezogiku’s signature and most popular ramen. Topped with charsiu pork, fishcake, and green onion. $8.75

Mmm, this totally hit the spot! I was craving carbs and salt and this delivered on both. The restaurant was packed during lunch so we had to wait for a counter seat to open up. Glad we did because the ramen was pretty good!

Grilled mackerel – Staple & Fancy

Grilled mackerel - Staple & Fancy
Hazelnut, cherry tomato, salsa verde, pesto and shallots. Family style supper $46 per person
Staple and Fancy, Seattle WA

This tasted good, but I wasn’t a fan of the fish texture. It was an odd combination of flaky and mushy. I loved the sauces and garnishes though, hehe.

Spicy fish – Burmese Kitchen

Spicy fish - Burmese Kitchen
Fillet fish, chili flake, garlic and fried shallots. $7.95
Burmese Kitchen, San Francisco CA

This was delicious, although not very spicy. I like heat so I’m always a little disappointed when they promise spice and it ends up mild anyway. The fish, however, was tender and very flavorful!

Chambers Eat and Drink, San Francisco CA

I was already buzzed when I took this pic so I can’t recall 100% how the cocktail was, lol! I think it was a little on the sour side though. 🙂

I love this tamarind leaf salad! It’s got a variety of flavors and textures and is really fun to eat. San Francisco has a few Burmese restaurants and I really need to venture out and try more of them. Who wants to join?

I don’t know why I expect every version of Shaking Beef to be good! This was ok, but the beef was a little tough. Oh well, the search continues…

Rare grilled ahi tuna – Lot 7

Rare grilled ahi tuna - Lot 7
Artichoke, cauliflower, roasted potatoes, muhammara. $25
Lot 7, San Francisco CA

This was delicious! The tuna was beautiful and the vegetables were perfectly cooked too. I’ve never had muhammara before, but this condiment was SO tasty! I guess it’s traditionally made from aleppo peppers, ground walnuts, breadcrumbs, and olive oil and can have additional ingredients. Noms!
