House margarita – El Chupacabra

House margarita - El Chupacabra

Gold tequila, triple sec and their own sour mix, muddled limes, shaken and served on the rocks in a pint glass. $6
El Chupacabra, Seattle WA

These margaritas were decent. I asked for “no salt” but that’s a minor mistake. There were really annoying “ladies” sitting at the bar though and they were bullying a table of kids sitting nearby. Lame! The ladies seemed liked regulars so I guess they were permitted by the bar staff to bully other guests… ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Kyoto style cooked local vegetables, served in three different preparations. Tasting menu
Izakaya Yuzuki, San Francisco CA

I can’t remember all the vegetables in this dish, but on the left are eggplants and on the right are a type of yam. The bowl contains a leafy green. The preparations were delicious and the eggplants were my favorite!

Mmm, this was SO delicious! The tomato stew was certainly rich and flavorful and there was A LOT of cracked dungeness crab in there. I had fun wearing the plastic bib and picking out as much crab meat as possible. ๐Ÿ™‚

I liked this salad, but the chicken wasn’t as good as the kind they put in their banh mi’s. But everything tastes better with that lime-fish sauce on top!

Zaru tofu – Izakaya Yuzuki

Zaru tofu - Izakaya Yuzuki
House-made fresh tofu with sea salt. Tasting menu
Izakaya Yuzuki, San Francisco CA

This was different from any tofu I’ve ever had – I enjoyed it. The texture was super soft and creamy. It had very little flavor so the sea salt was useful. It was also a bit difficult to eat this with the awkward wooden spoons they provided but I like a challenge. ๐Ÿ™‚

Mmm, this chowder was pretty flavorful. It was on the thick side, but I liked it. It had plenty of clams and vegetables packed within, yay!

Pork belly – Chambers Eat + Drink

Pork belly - Chambers Eat + Drink
Two soft boiled eggs, smoked grits, caramelized onion, spaghetti squash, pork candy. $13
Chambers Eat and Drink, San Francisco CA

I liked the pork belly, the fried grits balls, and even the pieces of pork sugar candy but I really couldn’t get over the spaghetti squash mixed with the caramelized onion. What?! This is another dish where everything just didn’t taste right together…

Chicken katsu and vegetable buns – Izakaya Yuzuki

Chicken katsu and vegetable buns - Izakaya Yuzuki
Sunday special. Fried chicken with marinated vegetables and greens. $10
Izakaya Yuzuki, San Francisco CA

These chicken buns weren’t on the menu, but I saw the table next to us receive an order so I asked if we could get some too. It was their special so that’s why it wasn’t in print. Omg, these were amazing! The chicken was tender and juicy, but the saucey vegetables were the best part. They had SO much flavor!
