Dried sauteed string beans – Jasmine Tea House

Dried sauteed string beans - Jasmine Tea House
Hmm, this was greasier than I like it and also really salty from the soy sauce. I was expecting something flash sauteed in a wok and with lots of garlic or something. I didn’t know they were gonna drench it in soy sauce so I probably won’t order this again. $7.95

Apricot sorbet – Luce

Apricot sorbet - Luce
Cardamom crumble and pistachio. Tasting menu $95

I enjoy simple desserts and this one was lovely and delicious. The sorbet had a great apricot flavor and the cardamom crumbled and chopped pistachios were fun additions.

Citrus marinated olives – Percy’s & Co.

Citrus marinated olives - Percy's & Co.
I was really surprised at how many olives we got for only three bucks, score! They tasted great with the citrus and rosemary flavors, and I loved that it was a mixture of different olive varieties. Olives are my favorite so I’ll definitely be back for this snack. Happy hour $3

Dungeness crab noodles – Revel

Dungeness crab noodles - Revel
Seaweed noodle, creme fraiche, spicy red curry, bok choy, cilantro. $16
Revel, Seattle WA

SO good! This was definitely another delicious and comforting dish from Revel. The seaweed noodles were delicious and the large chunks of dungeness crab were nice treats to find in every few spoonfuls. And the spicy red curry sauce brought everything together. Noms!

True cod ‘n chips – Anthony’s Fish Bar

True cod 'n chips - Anthony's Fish Bar
3 piece Alaska true cod with French fries, tartar sauce. $7.99
Anthony’s Fish Bar, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)

There’s a little place in my heart for Anthony’s restaurants because I worked at their Bell Street Diner on Pier 66 during a summer in college. I really can’t fairly compare food from their fish bar at the Sea-Tac airport to their regular offerings, but I will say that I was not impressed. The fish tasted ok, but they were a little greasy and limp. The fries were also a bit wilted so I would say that this was a sad basket overall.

Herb butter roasted lamb loin – Luce

Herb butter roasted lamb loin - Luce
Broccoli di ciccio, pluot, brown butter. Tasting menu $95
Luce, San Francisco CA

This was a miss for me. The flavors were there, but the texture of the lamb loin was really rubbery and squishy at the same time. It was off-putting and kind of ruined the rest of the great components on the plate. 😦

Pork dip sandwich – Percy’s & Co.

Pork dip sandwich - Percy's & Co.
On baguette, sweet onion marmalade, wilted pea vines, pork jus. Happy hour $7
Percy’s & Co., Seattle WA

This sandwich was SO good! I mean who doesn’t love dipping sandwiches in delicious jus?! The pea vines were also a nice twist on greens and the onion marmalade was a great “condiment”. NOMS!

Pork dumpling – Revel

Pork dumpling - Revel
Green curry, coconut, basil. $9
Revel, Seattle WA

Mmm, another tasty dish from Revel. I loved the addition of green curry in the dumpling, you don’t see that very often. And the toasted coconut shavings made for a fun topping. We have SO many dumplings in San Francisco and they all start tasting similar especially if you’re at a dumpling restaurant, so I loved that these dumplings were out of the ordinary and delicious!

Butter poached lobster – Luce

Butter poached lobster - Luce
Sweet yellow corn, green strawberries, radish. Tasting menu $95
Luce, San Francisco CA

Another interesting flavor and texture combination from Luce, and I think a successful one. I don’t think I’ve ever come across green, unripe strawberries as an intentional ingredient before. They actually have a great texture and flavor profile (I grew up on a berry farm so I’m quite familiar). I also loved that there was a corn puree, roasted corn kernels, and shaved baby corn on the plate. And let’s not forget the beautifully poached lobster! Noms!

Beet-cured gravlax crostini – Percy’s & Co.

Beet-cured gravlax crostini - Percy's & Co.
Pickled onion, caper, parsley, cheese spread. Happy hour $3
Percy’s & Co., Seattle WA

Wow, this was both a beautiful and delicious dish! And for only three bucks! I was first struck by the amazing color of the beet-cured salmon. There was a striking ombre effect from orange to pink. All the flavors were lovely and I only regret that I didn’t order more, but we only ducked in for a quick pre-dinner happy hour.

Bulgoki beef buns – Rikki Rikki

Bulgoki beef buns - Rikki Rikki
Three steamed asian buns, filled with bulgoki beef and wild greens. Happy hour $5.95
Rikki Rikki, Kirkland WA

Uh, that’s a new spelling of the word! I guess that’s what you get when you order a Korean style beef packed into Chinese steamed buns at a Japanese sushi restaurant, lol! These buns were ok. They didn’t have the great Korean bulgogi flavors that I was expected. At two bucks a pop, I really can’t complain too much though. They’re a great value!
