The original clam bake cioppino – The Old Clam House

The original clam bake cioppino - The Old Clam House
Clams, mussels, crab, shrimp, calamari, fish filet, potatoes, carrots, onions, olives, garlic, corn in a spicy cioppino sauce. Couple $49.99
The Old Clam House, San Francisco CA

OMG, this was SO much food! This was pretty much a small pail of cioppino for only two people, and it was SO delicious! I liked that the sauce was on the spicy side. Most cioppinos are kinda bland these days. This cioppino was also packed with seafood. This was definitely worth it, and I would go back for this dish. Noms!

Aroma hash – Aroma Espresso Bar

Aroma hash - Aroma Espresso Bar
Sauteed chicken, turkey and potato hash atop arugula with sunny-side-up egg, wheat toast, yogurt, za’atar, syrup, homemade lemon olive oil dressing.
Aroma Espresso Bar, Toronto CANADA

This looked dry, gray, and boring and that’s exactly how it tasted. There wasn’t much going for this plate except that it was healthy. I’ve rather have tasty and flavorful over bland and healthy any day.

Classic fried chicken sandwich – The Bird

Classic fried chicken sandwich - The Bird
Celery-Fiji apple slaw, mayo, pickle, bun. $8
The Bird, San Francisco CA

I haven’t quite decided whether I like their classic or spicy fried chicken sandwich better. They’re both super tasty, but I guess it’s just what I’m feeling for at the time. I always douse them in their homemade sriracha anyway, so it always adds a bit of heat anyway. Mmm, SO good!

Create your own pizza – MOD Pizza

Create your own pizza - MOD Pizza
Spicy Italian sausage, bacon, jalapenos, red onion, Mama Lil’s peppers, kalamata olives, red sauce, hot buffalo sauce. $8.27
MOD Pizza, Reston VA

This pizza was actually pretty good! Yes, I probably put too many random toppings on it but that’s what I was craving. I don’t even want to know the calorie count on this thing, lol!

Meat gyro platter – Lazeez

Meat gyro platter - Lazeez
Lamb and beef with lettuce, tomato, red onion, tzatziki sauce, Greek pita. $13.50
Lazeez, San Francisco CA

The gyro meat tasted good, but it was really greasy. I like tender meat, but not necessarily glistening with fatty grease. They do give you plenty of it though. I would have appreciated more tzatziki for that amount of food.

Imported and local cheeses – Barboursville Vineyards

Imported and local cheeses - Barboursville Vineyards
Caromont Farms fresh chevre (cow, Virginia), Ubriaco aged in red wine (cow, Italy), Brescia taleggio (cow, Italy), pecorino Toscano stagionato (sheep, Italy), Castello d’Albola extra virgin olive oil, whipped local honey butter, red currant jam. Small $15
Barboursville Vineyards, Barboursville VA

This cheese plate was decent – I liked the variety. But what really killed it for me was the service. Yes, the back restaurant felt a little stuffy and forced, but one of the servers was such a bitch! Seriously, I never use that word on my blog, but she 100% deserves that title. She surely knew how to completely ruin the guests’ experience! Coming from the Bay Area, we’re kinda spoiled when it comes to wine, food, and service but you would think that smaller wineries at less traveled AVA’s would place a great deal of importance on their customer service to assure return guests. This apparently isn’t the case at Barboursville Vineyards. It appears they have shitty service and don’t happen to care if you ever return!

The original Golden Gate clam chowder – The Old Clam House

The original Golden Gate clam chowder - The Old Clam House
Oyster crackers. Cup $7.99
The Old Clam House, San Francisco CA

Hmm, I wasn’t really impressed by this. I mean it was good, but you would think it was amazing from the menu title. It was basic, and everything in it was cut really small so it didn’t feel substantial for a chowder. Not my favorite.

Roasted lamb shoulder – Zahav

Roasted lamb shoulder - Zahav
With pomegranate and chickpeas, served with rice pilav. Mesibah menu $53 per person
Zahav, Philadelphia PA

OMG, this was probably the best lamb I’ve ever tasted – no joke!! It was so tender and full of flavor, and it just melted in your mouth. I looked on their website recently and they no longer have the lamb on their menu which is a damn shame because this was the best thing ever! I’m just glad I had the chance to try it before they moved on. Lordy, I can almost taste it in my mouth if I think hard enough – it was that good!!! I took the leftovers home, and I swear it tasted just as good the next day. 🙂
