Coca of wild nettles – Contigo

Coca of wild nettles - Contigo
Flatbread with smoked bacon, melted leeks, manchego and housemade mato cheese. $15
Contigo, San Francisco CA

I love the cocas at Contigo. The flatbread always has a great texture and is so flavorful. This wild nettle coca was a new one for me, and it was SO tasty especially with the two types of cheese and bacon.

Poire belle Helene – Le P’tit Laurent

Poire belle Helene - Le P'tit Laurent
Poached pear with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream. $7.50
Le P’tit Laurent, San Francisco CA

This was the perfect dessert to end our meal. It wasn’t too sugary sweet and it had a great firm texture. And how can you go wrong with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce?!

Salmon tarte flambee – Noeteca

Salmon tarte flambee - Noeteca
Alsace inspired thin flatbread “pizza” with nova lox smoked salmon, caramelized onion, capers, dill, lemon, and creme fraiche. $12
Noeteca, San Francisco CA

Wow, this was really tasty! I don’t say this very often, but perhaps there was a bit too much toppings. The flatbread was so thin that it could barely support all the smoked salmon. I’m never one to complain about more toppings, but I can also appreciate a little balance. 🙂

Jamaican planter’s punch – Smuggler’s Cove

Jamaican planter's punch - Smuggler's Cove

“Where it all began – the heart of the exotic cocktail as enjoyed for centuries in Jamaica. This follows the traditional Caribbean formula: 1 of sour (lime) 2 of sweet (sugar) 3 or strong (dark Jamaican rum), and 4 of weak (ice), with allspice liqueur and Angostura bitters for spice.” $12
Smuggler’s Cove, San Francisco CA

Just in time for Friday happy hour, lol! I love most of the drinks at Smuggler’s Cove, but this didn’t do it for me. I think the allspice liqueur was a bit too much.

Lamb shank braised for six hours, swiss chard, rosemary sauce. $24

This was super rich and flavorful. The lamb was oh so tender and pretty much fell apart upon touching. The rosemary sauce was delicious and worked wonderfully with the earthy lamb.

Golden State Ale – Nojo

Golden State Ale - Nojo

Uncommon Brewery, “Uncommon beer for uncommon people”, organic, 16 oz. $6.50
Nojo, San Francisco CA

I’d never seen this beer before so I had to order it. And as a trained botanist, I immediately fell in love with the beer can art. I included my own pic of some California poppies to keep the theme going. As for the beer, I really liked it! It was light and very tasty.

Puka punch – Smuggler’s Cove

Puka punch - Smuggler's Cove

“Mere mortal bartenders quake in fear at the sight of eleven carefully measured ingredients, but not our intrepid crew. Such is the nature of a great exotic cocktail like this masterpiece from the world famous Tiki-Ti in Los Angeles. Four juices, four rums, and a sea of spices make this ‘Superb in Taste Sensation’.” $14
Smuggler’s Cove, San Francisco CA

This is definitely a silent killer! It tastes SO delicious and fruity that you forget that it’s also packed with a ton of alcohol. One of these definitely gets you going so be careful, you don’t wanna barf in their indoor water feature. Lol!
