Mini burgers – Matchbox Palm Springs

Mini burgers - Matchbox Palm Springs

Hand-pattied certified angus beef, toasted brioche, pickles, and onion straws. Three for $9
Matchbox Palm Springs, Palm Springs CA

Thank goodness that we really liked our server/bartender because the food at Matchbox wasn’t all that good. These sliders were on the boring side – I mean they could have at least toasted and buttered the buns. The onion straws were also too thin to really enjoy and they quickly became soggy.

Octopus carpaccio – Workshop Kitchen + Bar

Octopus carpaccio - Workshop Kitchen + Bar
Cooked sous vide, pickled cauliflower fleurettes, peppers, cilantro, lemon and olive oil. $14
Workshop Kitchen + Bar, Palm Springs CA

Mmm, this was beautiful and delicious! And I loved the pickled cauliflower. Is it me or does octopus carpaccio always seem to be on the pickled/sour side? Every time I’ve ordered octopus carpaccio at different restaurants, they’re usually sour-ish.

Cocktails – Tsunami

Divisadero cocktail - Tsunami
Divisadero: rye, campari, carpano, fresh orange. $10
Tsunami, San Francisco CA

Wow, I really am becoming a whiskey drinker, lol! I think my favorite of these drinks was the Tsunami Old Fashioned. It tasted great and went down smoothly.

Tsunami old fashioned - Tsunami
Tsunami Old Fashioned: bourbon, aromatic bitters, orange bitters, cane sugar, orange essence. $10

Bulleit manhattan - Tsunami
Bulleit Manhattan: bourbon, sweet vermouth, bitters. $10

Sand-trap melt – Escena Lounge & Grill

Sand-trap melt - Escena Lounge & Grill
Fresh made white meat chicken salad served on wheat bread with lettuce, tomato, and cheddar cheese. Side of fresh fruit and a kosher pickle. $11
Escena Lounge & Grill, Palm Springs CA

Wow, this chicken melt was SO good! I think the caramelized onions in the melt totally put it over the top. I was also happy with all the fruit they put on the plate.

Fresh made potato chips - Escena Lounge & Grill
Fresh made potato chips with Russian dressing. Complimentary

Omg, these were frickin’ amazing!

Olive oil poached tuna sandwich – King’s Highway

Olive oil poached tuna sandwich - King's Highway
Toasted baguette, red onion fennel salad, nicoise olives, hearts of celery, Kennebec chips. $14
King’s Highway, Palm Springs CA

Wow, this sandwich was pretty big! It was more of a very chunky nicoise tuna salad on top of a split baguette than a proper sandwich. I’m not complaining because it was delicious, but it was not what I expected. The fresh potato chips were also very yummy.

Skinny margarita – Lulu California Bistro

Skinny margarita - Lulu California Bistro

1800 Silver tequila, agave nectar and fresh lime juice. $5.99
Lulu California Bistro, Palm Springs CA

Not quite sure what made this margarita “skinny”, but it tasted pretty good! Perhaps it’s because they didn’t use any sugary margarita mix. They serve it in a huge glass so I’m sure the large quantity negates any “skinny” promises.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. I got a little scared going up this thing! I have a tiny fear of heights.

Spicy ahi tempura roll – Matchbox Palm Springs

Spicy ahi tempura roll - Matchbox Palm Springs
Ahi tuna, ginger, garlic, nori, sticky rice, black sesame, wasabi sauce. Happy hour $11
Matchbox Palm Springs, Palm Springs CA

Hmm, this wasn’t very good. It was too salty and the tempura coating was rock hard! I was actually surprised by this because most tempura rolls have a tendency to get soggy. That was not the case here – that coating was tough to chew through. The roll had no finesse and just ended up being a salty gut bomb.

Beef enchirito – Taco Bell

Beef enchirito - Taco Bell
A warm, soft flour tortilla wrapped around seasoned beef, hearty beans, diced onion, real cheddar cheese, and tangy red sauce. 360 calories, 17g fat
Taco Bell, Palm Springs CA

The enchirito is another one of my favorite Taco Bell items probably because it’s SO saucey and cheesy! It goes down so easily during that late night “fourthmeal”, lol!

Asian chicken salad – Escena Lounge & Grill

Asian chicken salad - Escena Lounge & Grill
Shredded napa cabbage, carrots, red peppers, mandarin oranges, caramelized almonds, cilantro, green onions, wontons and grilled chicken tossed in soy-ginger vinaigrette. $13
Escena Lounge & Grill, Palm Springs CA

Wow, this was like a huge Asian chopped salad! And a very good one at that. I loved the perfect combination of all the different textures and flavors.

Escena Golf Club view - Escena Lounge & Grill

The view from our table – absolutely beautiful!
