Pureed eggplant, padron, peppers, roasted tomatoes, aged balsamic vinegar. Family style supper $46 per person Staple and Fancy, Seattle WA
This chicken was super moist and tender, but I would have liked it more if the skin had been crispier. I love padron peppers so it was great to have a pile of them on the board, and the pureed eggplant was surprisingly tasty.

Sauteed chicken, eggplant, onion, jalapeno, bell pepper and basil. Lunch special served with jasmine steamed rice, egg roll, soup, and salad with peanut sauce. $6.95 Thai Lotus, Reno NV
I didn’t know it at the time, but this was going to be one of the best meals we had in Reno. Now I don’t wanna talk smack about Thai Lotus because their food was decent, but that’s just really sad for Reno!
Ok, ok. I always expect Chinese food to be a bit greasy, but good lord this was SUPER greasy! The flavor was ok, but the feel of that much grease in my mouth was really off-putting. $10.50 House of Chen, San Francisco CA
Chicken fried rice.

All Season Sushi, San Francisco CA
This place is one of those sketchy sushi restaurants that also has a walk-in to-go Chinese food counter in the front. I think everybody who works here is actually Chinese, even the guys behind the sushi bar. That said, I have no shame in heading over when I need a cheap and quick fix of salty, saucy Chinese food.
View of Sutro Tower from Corona Heights Park/Hill. This was a sunny, crisp morning in San Francisco with only a few clouds in the sky. A perfect time to take a stroll.
Sauteed eggplants with green onion in a garlic chili sauce. Includes daily soup and steamed rice. Lunch special $6.50
Xiao Long Bao Kitchen, South San Francisco CA
I keep repeating this, but I love saucy eggplant dishes from Chinese restaurants. I love the texture and the flavor of this dish. The eggplants were large and chunky and the garlic chili sauce was salty and sweet. Yes please!
It’s a long 3-day weekend for me and I don’t feel motivated to really do much. I haven’t just relaxed at home for a while and I’m enjoying it. I did have to go into work for a couple hours of OT but that wasn’t too bad. Besides that I’ve just been going to the gym, catching up on DVR, cleaning, cooking, and playing games on my iPhone. I think that’s some quality relaxation time if you ask me!
Sliced chicken breast, eggplant, basil, bell peppers, and bamboo shoots in a mild curry sauce. $9 Siam Saigon, San Francisco
This is a new one for me. Siam Saigon serves both Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, nice! I was on my way to the Mission Safeway and I was starving so I ducked into this place because I had never noticed it before. I think it’s new. It’s a small space but the service is friendly and efficient (when they’re paying attention). This dish was pretty good. I liked the large slices of tender chicken, and all the vegetables were also large and chunky. The curry sauce seemed too timid at first, but after a few more bites the flavor came through.
