Painted Hills top sirloin and pork belly – Roxy’s Cafe

Painted Hills top sirloin and pork belly - Roxy's Cafe
House cured bacon, sprouted beans, red pepper, okra. 10-course chef’s tasting menu $75
Roxy’s Cafe, San Francisco CA

Aside from the beautifully cooked and delicious proteins on this plate, the sprouted beans were my favorite part! I’d never had them before, and they had a wonderful texture and tasted great! I will say that my cut of beef had a lot of connective tissue, so while it was still tasty, I really couldn’t cut through it very easily. Lame.

Southern empanadas – Nola

Southern empanadas - Nola
Ground chuck, holy trinity, manchego, cotija and oaxacan cheeses, bbq sauce, salsa fresca, bbq cream sauce. Happy hour $5
Nola, Palo Alto CA

Omg, these were two large empanadas for only five bucks! Now that’s a great value. These were definitely filling and you could probably make an entire meal of these. I loved all the flavors and it was pretty tasty, but the empanada dough was on the thick side and slightly undercooked in parts.

Judy Joe scram – Judy’s Cafe

Judy Joe scram - Judy's Cafe
Two scrambled eggs, spinach, ground chuck, onion and mushroom, served with homefried potatoes and 9-grain wheat toast. $13
Judy’s Cafe, San Francisco CA

Another huge scramble from Judy’s CafΓ©. They jam-pack the ingredients into their scrams so it’s mostly filling than egg. I don’t mind one bit! πŸ™‚

Cheeseburger – America’s Cup 2013

Cheeseburger - America's Cup 2013
What can you say about festival food?! It’s usually overpriced and of poor quality. We attended a music concert at the America’s Cup Pavilion and that’s exactly what we had – an overpriced, soggy burger that I had to wait 10 minutes in line for! I’m still not sure if the patty was 100% beef. It tasted like there could have been pork in there too! Lame. $10

String bean beef – Red Jade

String bean beef - Red Jade
This dish was pretty tasty and not too greasy. I liked how they used larger cuts of beef so that they’re still recognizable as such. The beef was also properly cut in cross section for ease of chewing. And the was plenty of flavorful string beans. $8.95
Red Jade, San Francisco CA

Double double burger “loaded” – In-N-Out Burger

Double double burger loaded - In-N-Out Burger
Two 100% pure beef patties, lettuce, tomato, spread, two slices of American cheese on a freshly baked bun.Β  “Animal style” with extra spread, pickles,Β and grilled onions. “With chopped chilies” adds slices of spicy yellow pickled chili peppers. And I also requested a side of peppers, lol. $3.40
In-N-Out Burger, Millbrae CA

OK, so I ordered this double double burger “animal style with chopped chilies”. Omg, it was huge and amazing!!! My co-worker recently told me about the chilies option on their hidden menu. Well I love spicy peppers so I thought I’d give it a try. This burger definitely filled me up, and it was messy and fabulous. The yellow chilies actually had some kick too! I was expecting mild pepperoncini slices, but these had some heat to them. Oh, how I love you In-N-Out!

Beef and cheese enchiladas – United Airlines

Beef and cheese enchiladas - United Airlines
Served with side salad, dinner roll, cream crackers, and coffee cake.
London (LHR) to San Francisco (SFO), United Airlines

OK, I’m a sucker for saucy dishes even then they’re subpar. This was covered in a whole lotta cheese and more sauce so I can’t complain too much, hehe. Everything else was pretty boring. I’m not sure why I ate most of this – maybe a I was just bored from watching all the in-flight movies…

Beef with oyster sauce - Tuk Tuk Noodle Bar
Sauteed beef with mushroom, onion, bamboo shoot, carrot, and green onion. Set Menu A Β£11.80 per person
Tuk Tuk Noodle Bar, London ENGLAND

Ugh, another throw-away dish from Tuk Tuk. The beef quality was bad and the sauce was plain and boring. There was plenty to go around though!

Beef roll ups – L’Arganier

Beef roll ups - L'Arganier
Flatbread filled with beef, cheese, tomato, pickle. Complimentary
L’Arganier, Paris FR

We had sat down outside this restaurant for a quick drink break from walking around. After we had ordered our drinks, the waitress brought us this plate of roll ups which we weren’t expecting. We really liked her and thought that this was cute. We noticed that we were the only table to get the complimentary snacks in our area and we really weren’t sure why. It’s times like this when it would’ve been great to know French. πŸ™‚

Penne pasta with meatballs – United Airlines

Penne pasta with meatballs - United Airlines
Side salad with ranch dressing, dinner roll, butterscotch brownie.
San Francisco (SFO) to Paris (CDG), United Airlines

Ugh, I’m never liked the meals on United international flights. They’re usually worse than bad cafeteria food, but I guess they succeed in their goal of being heavy and fattening and making you fall asleep so you’re not a disturbance on the plane. This pasta was actually passable as decent microwave food though. The salad and roll were throw-aways, but the brownie was pretty tasty. πŸ™‚

Loco moco - L&L Hawaiian Barbecue
Savory hamburger patty placed over rice, covered with brown gravy and topped with 1 egg over easy. Served with macaroni salad. Mini $5.75
L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, Millbrae CA

OMG, I love loco moco! I justify ordering this by saying that at least I only buy the mini size instead of the regular, lol. L&L’s version is great and comforting. I also love their macaroni salad so it’s a win-win!

Last time I was at Chile Pies, I was a little disappointed but this enchilada was fantastic. The ingredients were great and the different chile sauces they used were delicious! It’s a good amount of food so you won’t leave hungry.
