Chickpeas with smoke octopus – Staple & Fancy

Chickpeas with smoke octopus - Staple & Fancy
Family style supper $46 per person
Staple and Fancy, Seattle WA

I think they sprinkled smoked paprika on top and there were red bell peppers mixed it too. Anyway, this dish was SO delicious! The slices of smoked octopus had SO much flavor and gave the dish a nice meaty quality. Noms!

Crispy calamari – Wipeout Bar and Grill

Crispy calamari - Wipeout Bar and Grill
Dusted with flour, lightly fried and seasoned with lemon, served with a lemon aioli. $7.95
Wipeout Bar and Grill, Greenbrae CA

We stopped by Wipeout to grab a snack and drinks before heading to an event. I wish we hadn’t. These calamari were horrible! They were super greasy, hard and over-fried. Ew! There were plenty of them, which made them more difficult to eat – lame.

Cancun nachos with pollo asado – Cancun Sabor Mexicano

Cancun nachos with pollo asado - Cancun Sabor Mexicano
Corn chips melted with jack cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, whole beans, grilled skinless chicken and jalapenos de la casa. $8.95
Cancun Sabor Mexicano, Berkeley CA

It may not be readily evident from this pic, but this nacho plate is pretty darn big! And delicous! They use organic meats and other amazing ingredients. I’m also very much in love with their salsa bar. They have plenty to choose from and you can keep going back for more!

Goi cuon – Zadin

Goi cuon - Zadin
Summer rolls. Steamed shrimp and pork, rice vermicelli, bean sprouts, red leaf lettuce, cilantro and mint wrapped in rice paper served with peanut sauce. $8.50
Zadin, San Francisco CA

Being the little piggy that I am, I enjoyed that these summer rolls came with both shrimp and pork inside! In gnereal, I’d also have to say that I was impressed with all their sauces. Go Zadin!

Peach Blanket Barbecue cocktail – 15 Romolo

Peach Blanket Barbecue cocktail - 15 Romolo

“You can ants if you want to, you can leave your pants behind.” Laphroaig quarter cask, peach liqueur, lemon, amaro ciaciaro, maple, cayenne, pilsner. $10
15 Romolo, San Francisco CA

For those of you who aren’t familiar with San Francisco, the name of this cocktail is a play on a local variety stage show called Beach Blanket Babylon. All the ingredients sounded great, but I wasn’t too impressed. It tasted a bit bland to me. 😦

Muc rang muoi – Zadin

Muc rang muoi - Zadin
Salt and pepper calamari. Calamari deep fried with a salt and pepper coating, sauteed with jalapenos and scallions. Served with a cilantro lime dipping sauce. $11
Zadin, San Francisco CA

Finally made it to this neighborhood restaurant, and I liked it! We had four people in our party so it was great to try a lot of different items. This dish was really tasty, but maybe a bit over-fried. I loved the jalapenos and the cilantro lime sauce was different and yummy.

Chinese preflight snacks – Manchu Wok

Vegetable egg roll - Manchu Wok
Vegetable egg roll with sweet and sour sauce. $1.49
Manchu Wok, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)

I was starving at the SeaTac airport so I ran to the closest restaurant and ordered a couple of snacks before walking to my gate. Unfortunately, they were super salty and unsatisfying. Sadness.

Egg flower soup - Manchu Wok
Egg flower soup with carrot, peas, and water chestnut. $1.49
Omg, who uses styrofoam these days?!?!

I was sad flying out of the older terminals. 😦

Petite assiette – Le Pichet

Petite assiette - Le Pichet
Half size charcuterie plate with 3 items, served with cornichons. I chose Zoe’s Meats salami (air dried pork salami made in Seattle), jambon cru serrano (air cured ham from the Spanish Pyrenees), and pate albigeois (country-stly pork pate). $7
Le Pichet, Seattle WA

Mmm, I love charcuterie plates! This was really good and I think the pate was my favorite. So simple, so delicious!
