Chashu, boiled egg. $8.75
Ajisen Ramen, San Francisco CA
This was decent. I wish the boiled eggs was a bit softer, but this is one of the more affordable ramens you can get for lunch downtown.

Gibson’s Donuts, Memphis TN
Someone brought a box of Gibson’s doughnuts into the office so of course I went straight for the bacon maple flavor, lol! This was pretty good! I liked the light fluffy donut although I thought that there was too much maple glaze for my taste.

Brandy-spiked French toast, powdered sugar, whipped cream, strawberries. Side of bacon. $10
Big Bad Breakfast, Oxford MS
Mmm, I really liked the texture of the pain perdue. It was really crispy on the outside and it tasted great. This place was packed with college students so it was definitely lively.

Japchae, lettuce, red cabbage, carrot, pickled radish, bean sprouts, grilled onion, and spicy sauce. $9.95
BibimBar, San Francisco CA
The prices have gone up for the bowls here, but I still crave them every once in a while since there aren’t many Korean food options in the FiDi. BibimBar is a decent option for a quick, satisfying lunch.

Purple sweet potato brioche. Bar seating $180
Pineapple & Pearls, Washington DC
This was a fun and tasty intermezzo. I liked that it wasn’t too sweet and the presentation was cute. The fizz from the soda was also nice to help cleanse the palate.

I forget what was in this tiny bite that was present after the lamb course. I remember that I didn’t much care for the brown stuff though, lol!

Includes beans, slaw, biscuits, and deviled egg. Any two meats $19.95
Germantown Commissary, Memphis TN
This was my first Memphis style bbq experience in Memphis and I was not impressed. The pork ribs were SO dry! The pulled shoulder was less dry, but still on the dry side. I had to douse them with plenty of bbq sauce to make them more palatable. The service was also kinda rude and inattentive. Not a great start for my trip!

Dozen oysters paired with a bottle of rose wine. $30
The Cavalier, San Francisco CA
Omg, I need to come for this happy hour deal more often! A dozen oysters and a bottle of rose for thrity bucks, I’m in! And these oysters were really good and tasty, yum!

Two farm eggs, roasted and grilled sweet potato hash, seasoned black and kidney beans, seasonal garlic greens, quinoa, brown rice, serrano avocado spread. $9
City Silo Table + Pantry, Memphis TN
Hmm, this was kinda too healthy for me. I needed more fat and flavor in this dish to truly enjoy it. I’m guess I’m just a horrible eater and don’t enjoy super healthy dishes. 😦

5 course tasting menu $85
Le Pigeon, Portland OR
I can’t remember the last time I’ve had skate, but this was prepared well. I will say that the dish was very salty so it was difficult to eat the entire thing. This was probably my least favorite dish of the meal.

With steamed rice. $9.24
Coriander Gourmet Thai, San Francisco CA
I liked the flavor of the chicken, but it was pretty dry and overcooked. They gave a good amount of food though.

Shaved parmesan, mint basil pesto, creme fraiche. $15
Vino Volo, San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
These meatballs were gross. They had a weird squishy texture and a weird flavor. I usually love lamb, but not these!

California Kings red wine flight. $14

Tater tots topped with cheese, jalapenos, olives, pico de gallo, scallions, sour cream, cilantro. $8
Fusion Food Truck, Salem OR
Mmm, these tatchos were really good and I loved that there were so many toppings. Yum!
