Bbq combination - Babe's Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse
1/3 rack baby back ribs, 2 chicken thighs, baked beans, brussels sprouts. $17
Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse, Rancho Mirage CA

Hmm, this wasn’t very good. The ribs had a weird texture and so did the chicken for that matter. The bbq sauce wasn’t very good either. Lame.

Pork ribs and brisket combination – Charles Vergos’ Rendezvous

Pork ribs and brisket combination - Charles Vergos' Rendezvous
World-famous Rendezvous charcoal-broiled pork ribs, beef brisket, served with beans and slaw. $21.95
Charles Vergos’ Rendezvous, Memphis TN

Omg, I think these were my favorite ribs in Memphis. I know that they’re not Memphis style, but they were the most flavorful and juicy of all the ribs I tried. The rub that they use is frickin’ delicious! It was very herbaceous and had so many spices. NOMS! The brisket was good too, but the ribs were the star. I liked the baked beans, but the slaw was too vinegar-y for my taste.

Memphis style ribs – Central BBQ

Memphis style ribs - Central BBQ
1/2 wet, 1/2 dry. Served with onion rings, turnip greens, roll. Half rack $15.99
Central BBQ, Memphis TN

Mmm, these ribs were way better than the ribs at Commissary. They had a better flavor, and they were super tender and juicy unlike the dry ribs at Commissary. I also liked that onion rings was a side option. 🙂

Ribs and BBQ shoulder combo platter – Germantown Commissary

Ribs and BBQ shoulder combo platter - Germantown Commissary
Includes beans, slaw, biscuits, and deviled egg. Any two meats $19.95
Germantown Commissary, Memphis TN

This was my first Memphis style bbq experience in Memphis and I was not impressed. The pork ribs were SO dry! The pulled shoulder was less dry, but still on the dry side. I had to douse them with plenty of bbq sauce to make them more palatable. The service was also kinda rude and inattentive. Not a great start for my trip!

“Da Kine” combo – Roy’s

Da Kine combo - Roy's
Szechuan spiced baby back pork ribs and firecracker teppan-yaki local shrimp, Malaysian garlic fried rice, pea shoots. $35
Roy’s, Waikoloa HI

Mmm, now this is what I call surf and turf! Ribs and whole shrimp, noms! My favorite part was the shrimp of course because you could suck on the heads – heavenly. The ribs were also tasty, but the sauteed cabbage and bok choy were plain and forgettable.

Waimea back ribs – Don the Beachcomber

Waimea back ribs - Don the Beachcomber
Baby backs coated in house rub, flame broiled and baked with honey mango BBQ glaze. Happy hour $9.95
Don the Beachcomber, Kailua-Kona HI

I’m a huge fan of BBQ ribs! These babybacks tasted good but not amazing! I wish they were a little more tender, but since they were slathered in delicious BBQ sauce I didn’t mind too much, hehe.

Smokehouse baby back ribs – Brookwood Farms BBQ

Smokehouse baby back ribs - Brookwood Farms BBQ
With macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, cornbread, and a fried pickle. $11.99
Brookwood Farms BBQ, Charlotte/Douglas International Airport (CLT)

Again, wow! The restaurants at CLT sure know how to pack your plate at really good values. Twelve bucks wouldn’t get you much at most airports, but this was a whole lotta food! I loved the mac ‘n cheese, and the ribs tasted decent but they had an odd texture. Everything together was maybe a little too salty for my taste.

Pork ribs in Mandarin sauce – Jun Ming Xuan

Pork ribs in Mandarin sauce - Jun Ming Xuan
Fried pork spareribs in a tangy sweet sauce. £5.80
Jun Ming Xuan Chinese Restaurant, London ENGLAND

Mmm, these were really good! I loved the flavor of the Mandarin sauce and its sticky consistency. I’m a sucker for ribs, noms!

Buckingham Palace during Changing of the Guard
Buckingham Palace during Changing of the Guard. Wow, this place is an absolute madhouse during this ceremony and unless your next to the inner fence you really can’t see much! I would say it’s kinda cool, but I wouldn’t waste my time waiting on future visits.

Classic barbecue baby-back ribs – Ruby Tuesday

Classic barbecue baby-back ribs - Ruby Tuesday
Half-rack slow-cooked for hours then covered with tangy barbecue sauce. With fresh grilled green beans and roasted spaghetti squash. $13.99
Ruby Tuesday, North Charleston SC

Bbq ribs are my weakness! These were good, but definitely on the salty side. I tried ordering “healthier” side options, but they arrived totally drenched in butter anyway so that was pointless.

Garlic cheese biscuits - Ruby Tuesday
Made-from-scratch garlic cheese biscuits. Mmm, these were actually very tasty! They were small but I’m sure they were loaded with calories.
