Chicken and beef combo plate – Ono Hawaiian BBQ

Chicken and beef combo plate - Ono Hawaiian BBQ
Bbq chicken and bbq beef, served with two scoops of rice, one scoop macaroni salad, and vegetables.
Ono Hawaiian BBQ, San Francisco CA

Ugh, the beef was really dry and gristly! The chicken was ok. I appreciate that Hawaiian bbq is fatty but I think these were especially greasy, yuck. The scoop of macaroni salad did help to ease my disappointment.

Fresh spring rolls – Basil Leaf Asian Cuisine

Fresh spring rolls - Basil Leaf Asian Cuisine
Goi cuon tom thit. Shrimp, rice vermicelli, cucumber, and lettuce wrapped in rice paper. Served with peanut sauce. $4.25
Basil Leaf Asian Cuisine, Fremont CA

There were standard fresh rolls and tasted pretty good. I liked the size of them and that they were open on both ends. I never like chewing through thick overlapping rice paper at the ends.

San Francisco-style cioppino – The Rotunda

San Francisco-style cioppino - The Rotunda
Mussels, clams, shrimp, dungeness crab, halibut, tomato-oregano broth, sourdough roll. $27
The Rotunda, San Francisco CA

This cioppino was good, but I was honestly surprised that it wasn’t better! I expected it to be AMAZING for almost thirty bucks. The ingredients were nice but I wasn’t blown away by the broth. It lack the all the flavor and depth that I was looking for. The mussels were also a little overdone.

The Fall Gem cocktail - The Rotunda

I love good, fresh sashimi and it’s pretty decent at Barracuda. It’s not the best cuts ever, but they’re good quality and they taste great!

Pesce, San Francisco CA

Mmm, these little bites were great! We decided to try a variety for the table, and I’m happy with the items we decided on because they were all delicious. Noms! I don’t know why not more people like chicken livers though. I think they taste wonderful and these fegatini were prepared perfectly.

Ugh, another gross burger from Carl’s Jr. The beef patty is SO small that you can’t even see it! Remind me never to come here again!

Popover – The Rotunda

Popover - The Rotunda
Served with strawberry butter. Complimentary
The Rotunda, San Francisco CA

Popover - The Rotunda
Mmm, these were SO good! I loved the airy, eggy interior especially with the subtle strawberry butter spread all over. I thought that the exterior was a little overdone and almost burnt tasting, but maybe it was just the one I got. I would have requested a second but I didn’t want to seem like a pig, lol!

Pumpkin gnocchi – Wine Kitchen

Pumpkin gnocchi - Wine Kitchen
Maitake mushroom, beets, arugula, goat cheese, pumpkin seeds. $13
Wine Kitchen, San Francisco CA

These were really good and earthy tasting with the pumpkin and maitake mushrooms. I think maitakes are some of my favorite mushrooms because they have a wonderful texture and flavor. The gnocchi was a bit on the soft side but they were still nice and airy. And I could have done without the toasted pumpkin seeds though.

Cookie crunch puff – Beard Papa’s

Cookie crunch puff - Beard Papa's
Cream puff with sugar cookie topping, filled with vanilla custard. $2.50
Beard Papa’s, San Francisco CA

Cookie crunch puff - Beard Papa's
Mmm, how I love Beard Papa’s cream puffs! I hadn’t seen this variety before so I decided to try it. The cookie crumble on top was actually really good, but these puffs are plenty good without them too.

Jalapeno six dollar burger – Carl’s Jr.

Jalapeno six dollar burger - Carl's Jr.
Black angus beef patty, pepperjack cheese, jalapenos, Santa Fe Sauce, lettuce, tomato. $7.06
Carl’s Jr., San Francisco CA

Fast food burgers NEVER look as good as the menu photos, but this hamburger from Carl’s Jr. is just pathetic! I just want to laugh at how ridiculously small and unappetizing it looks. I guess that’s what I get for succumbing to my fast food urges.
