Prather Ranch burger – Starbelly

Prather Ranch burger - Starbelly
March 2, 2014. With aged cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, house cut fries and pickle, grilled sesame seed challah bun. $13
Starbelly, San Francisco CA

Apparently, Starbelly believes that their burger is SO amazing that it needs 1 hour to prepare it and get it to your table. Puh-lease! This was my final meal at Starbelly, and it wasn’t even that good. Time to move onto greener pastures.

Fried chicken sandwich – Hi Tops

Fried chicken sandwich - Hi Tops

Spicy rooster slaw, pickles, served with fries. $12
Hi Tops, San Francisco CA

I love the sandwiches at Hi Tops. They’re big and messy and packed with flavor. This fried chicken sandwich was delicious, but the chicken was a little on the greasy side. The rooster slaw was amazing though. The fries were tasty but most of them were kinda short and annoying to eat.

Fried local sardine sandwich – Starbelly

Fried local sardine sandwich - Starbelly
Sauce remoulade, tomato and arugula with French fries.
Starbelly, San Francisco CA

The service was SO slow and ineffective during this visit that the sardines and fries were cold upon arrival – FAIL! I’ve even heard from friends who agree that this place has gone downhill. That’s unfortunate because I really liked this place.

Belgian fries – Sliderbar

Belgian fries - Sliderbar
Cooked fresh to order with hot chipotle ketchup, hot sriracha mayo, and their secret sauce. Family size $6.50
Sliderbar, San Francisco CA

Why are things that are bad for you so tasty!? French fries are my weakness and these were delicious. They have plenty of dippings sauces to choose from too.

Seafood – Tinto

Merluza en salsa verde - Tinto
Merluza En Salsa Verde: sea bass, cockles, salsa verde. Summer prix-fixe menu $38
Tinto, Palm Springs CA

The sea bass had a light and fluffy texture but it was definitely on the salty side. The cockles were ok but the sauce was too starchy and pretty much set while we were eating, gross! They didn’t have much flavor, but then my tastebuds were fried from the salty sea bass.

Moules Basquaise - Tinto
Moules Basquaise: mussels, chorizo, sauce basquaise, french fries.
I wasn’t expecting this. The mussels were shell-less, and they tasted really sour especially when paired with the salty fries. Part of the fun was lost because there were no shells to dig through. And the sauce tasted suspiciously like chili – odd.

Mini cheeseburger combo – Super Duper Burgers

Mini cheeseburger combo - Super Duper Burgers
One 4 ounce patty, ground daily all natural Niman Ranch beef. “Everything on it” with lettuce, tomato, red onions, Super sauce. Served with fries and Diet Coke. $9.40
Super Duper Burgers, San Francisco CA

They cook their patties to medium and it was very juicy and tender, noms! I don’t even mind that the burger was mini because with the fries, pickles and drink it was plenty of food for me.

Mini cheeseburger combo - Super Duper Burgers
This is a pretty yummy plate for a cheat meal. I’d rather eat at Super Duper than some fast food joint.

French fries - Super Duper Burgers
French fries. These were pretty good and fresh out of the fryer.

Homemade pickles - Super Duper Burgers
Homemade pickles. Complimentary
They keep these babies at the condiment counter. I grabbed a few because I love pickles!

Homemade turkey burger – Cheeky’s

Homemade turkey burger - Cheeky's
With avocado, turkey bacon, lettuce, tomato and Swiss cheese on a brioche bun, served with fries. $11
Cheeky’s, Palm Springs CA

I’m not usually a fan of turkey burgers because they have a tendency to dry out, but this burger was nice and juicy. And I can’t get enough of their fries, probably because I’m trying to cut down on (greasy) carbs so they’re a nice treat!

Grass fed burger – Cheeky’s

Grass fed burger - Cheeky's
With bacon, avocado, lettuce and tomato on a brioche bun, served with pesto fries. $11
Cheeky’s, Palm Springs CA

Mmm, this was delicious! The burger patty was juicy and tender and I love their bacon at Cheeky’s. The pesto fries were a little greasy but they had so much flavor that it was easily forgiven.

3 piece dark fried chicken meal – Queen’s Louisiana Po-Boy Cafe

3 piece dark fried chicken meal - Queen's Louisiana Po-Boy Cafe
Two thighs and a drumstick fried chicken value meal with French fries. $5.99
Queen’s Louisiana Po-Boy Cafe, San Francisco CA

Hmm, after hearing so many rave reviews about this place I was sadly disappointed by the quality of their food. The fried chicken were SUPER greasy making them unpleasant to eat. The fries were also soggy and flavorless.

Papas Francesca – Tabbuli

Papas Francesca - Tabbuli
Fried potatoes, spicy aioli, diced tomatoes, green onions, chopped parsley. $6
Tabbuli, Charleston SC

This was not what I expected, lol! This dish was pretty much seasoned french fries with stuff on top. I think I was expecting potatoes closer to papas bravas. 🙂 But these were tasty, nonetheless! I love seasoned french fries so they really couldn’t go wrong with this one.

Sloppy Jack burger – Fork Cafe

Sloppy Jack burger - Fork Cafe
Giant homemade meatball, marinara sauce and parmesan cheese on a ciabatta bread. Served with French fries. $12.95
Fork Cafe, San Francisco CA

The name of this dish made me think of “sloppy joe” the entire time, so I was a little disappointed when the meatball did not resemble a sloppy joe in anyway. Even though the menu description spelled out what it was, you can’t help but think of a sloppy joe. Also, they must have run out of ciabatta bread because this was just a regular bun. The fries were really tasty and perfectly cooked though. Maybe they should add a sloppy joe burger on the menu so I can satisfy my craving, hehe.

Drunk and stoned creature on a mushroom mural

Drunk and stoned creature on a mushroom mural, Haight Street. Oh, The Haight! I snapped this pic because I thought this artwork was SO colorful, but the subject matter is funny to me. I love that this fictional character is sitting on an Amanita muscaria mushroom – very fitting.
