Pad thai – Tara Thai

Pad thai - Tara Thai
Stir-fried chicken with thin rice noodles, bean curd, bean sprouts, scallions, and egg topped with peanuts. $11.99
Tara Thai, Herndon VA

This looks bland, AND it tasted bland! There was no flavor to this pad thai at all – sheesh! I’m used to Thai food that actually has flavor. This was probably one of the worst pad thai I’ve ever had. 😦

Nubs famous crab cakes – L.P. Steamers

Nubs famous crab cakes - L.P. Steamers
Made fresh daily. 5 oz crab cake served with potato chips, tartar sauce and crackers. $15
L.P. Steamers, Baltimore MD

Mmm, this crab cakes was SO delicious! It was mostly crab with very little filler, and it was fried perfectly. It was very moist and not greasy. I could have done without the potato chips (maybe that’s a local thing).

National Bohemian 'Natty Boh' beer - L.P. Steamers
National Bohemian ‘Natty Boh’ beer. When in Baltimore, gotta have some Natty Boh! 🙂

Bulgogi bibim stone bowl – BibimBar

Bulgogi bibim stone bowl - BibimBar
Marinated beef, japchae, lettuce, red cabbage, carrot, pickled radish, bean sprouts, grilled onion, finely sliced egg, and spicy sauce. $9.50
BibimBar, San Francisco CA

I learned my lesson last time and got the regular spicy sauce instead of the super spicy sauce this time around. I like this place even though it’s not the best Korean food. It’s a nice break from all the lunchtime sandwiches and salads in the FiDi.

Crab cake and fried green tomato eggs benedict – Miss Shirley’s Cafe

Crab cake and fried green tomato eggs benedict - Miss Shirley's Cafe
Poached eggs, mini jumbo lump crab cakes on fried green tomatoes, with black eyed pea succotash, asparagus, Old Bay hollandaise sauce, dusted with Old Bay.
Miss Shirley’s Cafe, Baltimore MD

Omg, this was A LOT of food! And it was all pretty heavy. The succotash was a little too starchy to provide any break from the heaviness of this dish. The components tasted good though. I think they could have done without the 2 additional fried green tomatoes on the side though.

Drew’s peanut butter bacon burger – Ted’s Bulletin

Drew's peanut butter bacon burger - Ted's Bulletin
Side of sweet tomato jam, served with hand-cut fries and pickle. $12.79
Ted’s Bulletin, Washington DC

I was skeptical of peanut butter on a hamburger, but it actually tasted really good even with some of the tomato jam mixed it! The beef patty was cooked nicely – juicy on the inside with a nice grilled crust on the outside. And the fries were deelish!

Mini burger – Super Duper Burgers

Mini burger - Super Duper Burgers
One 4 ounce patty, ground daily all natural Niman Ranch beef. “Everything on it” with lettuce, tomato, red onions, Super sauce, and cheese. $5.50
Super Duper Burgers, San Francisco CA

I think my favorite part of these burgers is the nice crust on the grilled patty and the Super sauce. They are just so easy to eat and packed with amazing flavor. Noms!
