Bourbon caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream, candied pecans. $9 Town Hall, San Francisco CA
Mmm, this dessert was very tasty and the peaches were great. The sticky bun was a bit too caramelized on the bottom and hard to cut through, but all the flavors were there and the vanilla ice cream helped to soften up everything.
Tarte peche verveine. Sweet pastry verbena panna cotta, roasted peach quarters. £6 Laduree, London ENGLAND
This tart was REALLY pretty and the verbena panna cotta and peaches were pretty tasty! I was expecting a thinner and more flavorful pastry shell though. This pastry was too thick and clunky, and very difficult to cut through. I expected a lot from Laduree, but they really didn’t deliver the goods.
Fresh mint, peach white sangria: California chardonnay, fresh mint, summer peaches, fresh oranges and lime. $5 Sliderbar, San Francisco CA
Mmm, sangria! This cool sports bar is a nice addition to the restaurant scene in the Castro. It replaced Criolla Kitchen, and was Bagdad Cafe before that. We ended up here after a day of hanging out with friends and the service was amazing! The crowd was young and fun, and the food was pretty tasty too!
Allagash White beer. Refreshing with orange peel and coriander notes. Portland, MA, 5.2% ABV. $6
Vanilla ice cream and almonds. Family style supper $46 per person Staple and Fancy, Seattle WA
I’m not a fan of super sweet desserts, but this was on the other end of the spectrum. It was bland and the dough was thick and undercooked. Perhaps this is why I rarely order desserts. Unfortunate since the rest of the meal was delicious up to this point. 😦
Christopher Columbus statue, Seattle Waterfront Park.
I had to look this up, but a bellini is traditionally made with white peaches (pureed and strained) and sparkling wine (prosecco because of its Italian origin). This is different from mimosas that use citrus (usually orange juice) and champagne (because of its French origin) with or without Grand Marnier to accentuate the citrus flavors. Geez, I love the internet! 🙂 $9 Universal Cafe, San Francisco CA
Pink bougainvillea flowers (Nyctaginaceae) and lion statue, Church Street.
Cherry wood smoked duck breast, white stone grits, spinach, peach gastrique. Three course dinner $30 17 North Roadside Kitchen, Mount Pleasant SC
Mmm, this dish was SO delicious! The duck was cooked perfectly and had a yummy smoked flavor. And how can you resist peaches when you’re in South Carolina? I don’t think it’s possible. This plate had some of my favorites things so it was definitely a success!
Fort Moultrie. I thought that the signal tower (on the right) was pretty cool!
This was a wonderful way to end a marvelous meal! Since I totally ordered on the “heavy” side for the previous courses, this light and refreshing dessert was just what I needed. The shiso biscuit and leaves were delightful and tasted great with the peaches and sorbet. Mmm, noms!
Beautiful window planter with a hardy leopard plant (Ligularia sp., Asteraceae). This planter was a few doors down from McCrady’s and the Ligularia was absolutely stunning with it’s large, shiny green leaves and small yellow composite flowers.
Omg, three scoops of ice cream is a small here! That’s a lot of ice cream! It was very good and I liked the airy consistency. The store is next to Hyman’s Restaurant which always has a crowd of people waiting to dine inside. It looks SUPER touristy though so I prolly won’t try it.
Charleston Waterfront Park Pier. Took a stroll after dinner and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at the park.
Wow, it’s the 100th day since I’ve started these Project 365 entries. I’m glad that I’ve stuck with it. It was great to be back at the office, but I’m looking forward to a weekend filled with absolutely nothing. Silverfox and I are gonna grab a quick dinner at Kasa Indian Eatery before having a Friday cocktail. We’re gonna have an early night since he flies out to Seattle tomorrow morning. I’m also still really tired and need to catch up on sleep.
Chocolate cake with whipped cream filling and icing, topped with assorted fruit and covered with chocolate sprinkles.
Sogo Bakery, Burlingame CA
The office got this light and delicious birthday cake for me. I was genuinely surprised when they presented it. I was SO preoccupied thinking about the upcoming weekend that it didn’t even cross my mind that my office would get a cake to jump start the celebration. Thanks guys!
