Cocktails – Wayfare Tavern

Briar Patch cocktail - Wayfare Tavern

Briar Patch: rye, rhubarb, lime orange bitters. $11
Wayfare Tavern, San Francisco CA

Noms! We went to Wayfare Tavern with my roomies and had a fabulous time. The service was amazing and I loved the drinks. Dare I say, I loved them more than the food? It’s true. The drinks are expertly made. Although, you really can’t beat their popovers (more to come about that).

Pomegranate Fizz cocktail - Wayfare Tavern

Pomegranate Fizz: vodka, pomegranate, ginger rosemary syrup. $11

Sazerac cocktail - Wayfare Tavern

Sazerac: rye, herbsaint, peychauds, sugar. $11

Chinatown duck sliders – Maven

Chinatown duck sliders - Maven
Shiitake mushrooms, Chinese greens, bacon. Bloomspot 4-course chef’s tasting menu with cocktail pairings for two.
Maven, San Francisco CA

These duck sliders were very rich and delicious! They were on toasted buttery poppyseed egg bun which helped soak up all the yummy juices from the pulled duck. The greens (not quite sure what they actually were) were flavorful, almost on the pungent side. The sliders were on the verge of being too salty from all the rich umami flavors, but I’m glad it didn’t go over the edge.

5 Spot cocktail - Maven

5 Spot Cocktail: aged rhum, ginger, lime, maple, Thai basil, five spice.
This cocktail had a lot of flavors going on, but they actually all tasted pretty good together. The lime and basil also helped to freshen everything up.

Pickled Pink sliders – Sliderbar

Pickled Pink sliders - Sliderbar
Ground shrimp with chili and ginger patty, house made pickled onions, cilantro and lime mayo, arugula on an artisan white bun. Two for $10
Sliderbar, San Francisco CA

Mmm, there are some delicious Asian flavors in this unique slider! Gotta give it to Sliderbar for creating some pretty creative sammies.

Chicken wings – SO

Chicken wings - SO
Deep fried in a light batter tossed in roasted red peppers, garlic, and ginger sauce. $6
SO, San Francisco CA

I LOVE these fried chicken wings!!! They’re cooked to perfection and are so moist and flavorful. I can probably eat an entire platter of these by myself. NOMS!!!

Nihari beef curry – Pakwan

Nihari beef curry - Pakwan
A special traditional boneless beef curry, topped with fresh ginger and cilantro. $8.99
Pakwan, San Francisco CA

I’m sure everyone in San Francisco knows that Pakwan is the place to go for delicious Pakistani food at amazing prices. When we were there the last time, there was a LARGE Pakistani family taking up a third of the restaurant so this prolonged the wait for food, but I think it added to the overall atmosphere. I mean the food must be good if Paskistanis are holding family functions there, right?!

Karahi chicken – Pakwan

Karahi chicken - Pakwan
Chicken in a traditional tomato based curry from northern Pakistan, delicately cooked in a wok and topped with fresh ginger and cilantro. $6.99
Pakwan, San Francisco CA

This was SO flavorful (especially with that fresh ginger, hehe)! Seriously, the dish was delicious and the chicken cuts were very tender. Mmm, this is why I love curries!

Starbelly 75 cocktail – Starbelly

Starbelly 75 cocktail - Starbelly

Cocchi Americano apertivo, ginger, fresh lemon juice, prosecco. $8
Starbelly, San Francisco CA

I loved the beautiful pale pink/peach color of this cocktail. The ginger flavor was subtle, but a great addition to this lovely brunch drink.

Chocolate orange ginger – Glazed Gourmet Doughnuts

Chocolate orange ginger - Glazed Gourmet Doughnuts
Chocolate and orange glaze with homemade candied ginger.
Glazed Gourmet Doughnuts, Charleston SC

Sorry, the donut got smushed a little bit in the to-go bag but that didn’t affect the taste, hehe! The flavor was really good, but I’m not sure that I was a fan of the donut texture. It was on the doughy, dense side. I like donuts that are light, fluffy, and taste like they’ve been cooked all the way through.

Crab and mango tartine – Papillote

Crab and mango tartine - Papillote
With avocado, radish, grapefruit, Italian parsley and spiced sauce on toasted brioche. Served with greens and ginger vinaigrette. $10.99
Papillote, Savannah GA

This was bright and refreshing, and so different from anything I’ve tried before! There were so many yummy components to this and they all tasted great together. I do wish that the salad was pre-dressed because it was difficult to toss the salad on such a small plate. The ginger vinaigrette was a nice addition though. A beautiful dish!

Coffee - Papillote

Coffee. $1.99

Revolutionary War Haitian Soldiers Monument. Walking around Savannah was quite fun and you can’t help but feel the history surrounding you. This statue is located in a cute plaza next to the City Market.
