Prosecco and strawberry – Bar Jules

Prosecco and strawberry - Bar Jules

Breakfast cocktail with fresh strawberry puree. $12
Bar Jules, San Francisco CA

This was just ok tasting. I thought it would be a little sweeter because I assumed the strawberries used in the puree were gonna be super ripe, but this cocktail was pretty sour. And at twelve bucks a pop, you can’t help but feel a little disappointed.

Beef flat enchilada – Chile Pies

Beef flat enchilada - Chile Pies
A New Mexican classic made with housemade corn tortillas, cheese, ground beef, smothered in Christmas sauce (red and green chile sauce), topped with crema, pinto beans, rice and side salad. $13
Chile Pies, San Francisco CA

Last time I was at Chile Pies, I was a little disappointed but this enchilada was fantastic. The ingredients were great and the different chile sauces they used were delicious! It’s a good amount of food so you won’t leave hungry.

Korean bbq skirt steak salad – The Tropicale

Korean bbq skirt steak salad - The Tropicale
With peanut ginger vinaigrette, napa cabbage, bean sprouts, taro root chips, carrots and scallions. $21
The Tropicale, Palm Springs CA

The flavors in this dish were great, but the skirt steak was overcooked and super charred. It’s not fun eating a stick of black ash. 😦

Grandma’s spicy lamb dumpings – Mission Chinese Food

Grandma's spicy lamb dumpings - Mission Chinese Food
Peanuts, dill pickles, green onion, cilantro, chili oil. $9
Mission Chinese Food, San Francisco CA

These dumplings are kind of amazing! I just wish they give you more since they’re SO delicious. The dumplings have a great shape and the wrapper has a nice bite to it. I always love the combination of salty, sour, hot, spicy, and umami in the dishes from MCF. NOMS!

Chorizo jalapeno tartine – Griddle Fresh

Chorizo jalapeno tartine - Griddle Fresh
Pepper jack scramble, chorizo and roasted jalapeno relish, chipotle aioli on a brioche bun, potato wedges, cantaloupe. $12
Griddle Fresh, San Francisco CA

First of all, the service here was SO horrible! They were super slow and completely unattentive. It was the hardest I’ve had to work to flag a server down every time I needed something. Now to the food. It gave me heartburn. Between the spicy chorizo, spicy jalapeno, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle aioli there was SO much heavy spice and fat that I really couldn’t take it. On a positive note, the scramble was well cooked, the bun nicely toasted, and the cantaloupe was ripe and sweet.

Coffee - Griddle Fresh
Coffee. $2.50

Country fried steak – Escena Lounge & Grill

Country fried steak - Escena Lounge & Grill
Hand-hammered cutlet, two eggs over medium, country gravy, toast and breakfast potatoes. $14
Escena Lounge & Grill, Palm Springs CA

OMG, this cutlet was ridiculously HUGE! I can usually eat A LOT, but I couldn’t even begin to finish this thing, lol. It was pretty good, maybe a bit on the dry side, but the gravy and breading were flavorful. I think my heart is screaming from the sight of this again, hehe.

Mini blueberry muffin - Escena Lounge & Grill
Mini blueberry muffin. Delicious!
