Braised beef poutine – The Beach Chalet Brewery & Restaurant

Braised beef poutine - The Beach Chalet Brewery & Restaurant
Onion gravy, mozzarella curds, crispy roasted potato, confit garlic. $9
The Beach Chalet Brewery & Restaurant, San Francisco CA

I haven’t had A LOT of poutine in my life, but I’ve had enough to know that this versions was GROSS! Even with all the rich ingredients, this dish was the blandest thing I’ve tasted in a while! Even the confit garlic was flavorless. The meat was dry and tough and the onion gravy was really just onion-flavored oil! And there was A LOT of digusting oil pooled at the bottom of this dish just seeping into the potatoes and everything else. Ugh, it just makes me sick to think about this dish again.

Andy’s sage fried chicken benedict – Hash House A Go Go

Andy's sage fried chicken benedict - Hash House A Go Go
With fresh spinach, hardwood smoked bacon, market tomato, griddled mozzarella, chipotle cream and scrambled eggs served on a fresh split biscuit with griddled mashed potatoes. $15.95
Hash House A Go Go, Las Vegas NV

OMG, this fried chicken benedict was digustingly awe-inspiring, lol! We came to Hash House A Go Go to try this monstrousity because someone in our group had seen it on Man Vs. Food where Adam Richman ate the entire thing (ew!). Thank god I wasn’t the one who ordered it, but I did help eat it (hehe!).

The chipotle cream was a little on the bland side which is probably a good thing because you’d probably get sick from eating it all especially if it was spicy. The biscuits were dense and seemed underdone, and the mashed potatoes were also under-seasoned. The fried chicken tasted good but they were greasy. I guess what I’m saying was that this dish wasn’t very good, but it was worth the opportunity to see it in person and to give it a go. And really, it was only sixteen bucks! 🙂

Cajun lobster roll – Lobster ME

Cajun lobster roll - Lobster ME
Maine lobster with cajun spices, seasoned mayo, spicy butter and fresh lemon on toasted New England-style split-top bun served with Cajun garlic fries. $21
Lobster ME, Las Vegas NV

Sadly, this lobster roll didn’t have a lot of the cajun flavor that was advertised in the menu description. The fries tasted ok but were limp and greasy.

Braised goat gratin – The Walrus and the Carpenter

Braised goat gratin - The Walrus and the Carpenter
Chanterelle, root vegetables, potato. $12
The Walrus and the Carpenter, Seattle WA

I don’t find a lot of goat on menus, so when I finally do and I’m in the mood I’m always down for trying more. Goat gratin, now that’s a new one for me! Goat has a very distinctive flavor, but it wasn’t overwhelming in this yummy preparation. If you’ve ever wanted to ease yourself into trying goat, this would be the dish for you!

2 piece extra crispy chicken tenders meal - KFC

Mmm, I love KFC! I grew up craving the chicken from this chain. It was always a treat to go to KFC and have greasy deliciousness. I’ve always like their mashed potatoes, and now I ALWAYS request my chicken tenders to be dipped in their honey bbq sauce, lol!

Grass fed Mongolian beef – Region

Grass fed Mongolian beef - Region
Tossed with homemade potato chips. $17
Region, San Francisco CA

This was another first for me – Mongolian beef with potato chips. Most Mongolian beef dishes come with the fried noodles that add a crispy texture, but these had potato chips. They were only somewhat crispy because the sticky sauce had soften them a bit. Believe it or not, I found this dish oddly amazing! Perhaps it’s because of the fact that I was eating potato chips with my entree. I felt guilty and happy at once.

Frisco benedict – Kitchen Story

Frisco benedict - Kitchen Story
Chicken mango sausage, avocado, cherry pepper, meyer lemon hollandaise served on levain toast with rainbow potatoes and fruit. $13
Kitchen Story, San Francisco CA

Omg, Kitchen Story has redeemed itself with brunch! My experience here this time around was night and day (literally) compared to the time I had dinner here. The food was really good and the service rocked! A friend and I sat at the counter and we were never made to feel like we needed to leave even after were had finished all our food. I felt kind of bad because there were so many people waiting to get seated, but the servers just kept refilling our bottomless mimosa and we kept drinking them, lol. Thank you Kitchen Story for proving me wrong!
