Had an early morning workout today and by the time I was done, I was starving! I had nothing to do until 2 pm so I decided to stop by The Little Chihuahua on the way home and have a relaxing Saturday brunch. Between my entree, the free chips and salsa, and a large margarita, I was stuffed! Omg, why do I always overeat! I’ve got to head into work for a quick job later, but afterward I’m just going to sit on the couch and do nothing but catch up on DVR. Sounds perfect!

I couldn’t find a good description of “campechano” online, but I guess the word describes things from the Mexican state of Campeche. I’ve also read other accounts of campechano tacos having a mixture of carne asada and chorizo so at least this preparation is consistent with that theme. This was pretty good. I did notice that when they grilled this to order, they used a generous amount of oil so I’m sure that’s partly why it tasted so good. The steak could have been a little more tender, but it was definitely flavorful. I ordered this because I thought it would be healthier than some of the other options, but I didn’t know they’d add that much chorizo and use that much oil. Oops!

I really wish I was staying in a hotel closer to downtown and not near the airport in North Charleston. The food options in this area are limited, just fast food or chain restaurants. After work today, a co-worker and I ended up at Ruby Tuesday. Ugh, I’m gonna have to use the rental car and drive into the city soon for dinner.

This is my favorite taco at Crazy Coyote. The fish is a nice portion and perfectly cooked. I also love the addition of the cucumber dill sauce!

Flew to Charleston today through Dallas. It was kind of a full day of travel, but was able to get in early enough to check in with work and make it to the hotel. I was starving so I ended up at Waffle House nearby. Oi, this is going to be a long work trip!

I think 2 tacos is plenty for a small meal at Crazy Coyote. The thick tortillas definitely fill you up. I was glad to find out that the large pieces of chicken were still tender and juicy. They could have been a little more flavorful but these tacos are amazing nonetheless.

It’s all about the tortillas here! I don’t know if they’re homemade (they taste like it) but these tortillas are amazing! They’re thick and SO flavorful. The steak in this taco was kinda dry so I was glad that the salsa helped moisten the whole thing.

Carnitas and lengua tacos – El Patron Lonchera

I had to work in Oakland in the morning today so I stopped by one of the Mexican food trucks in West Oakland for lunch. One of my co-workers suggested El Patron Lonchera because they have tasty tacos and the food hasn’t made him sick yet, lol!

These were pretty good! Both tacos had great flavor and they didn’t get me sick, hehe. The beef tongue was in large chunks (yum) and the carnitas were nicely shredded with a few crispy pieces (double yum). The guy running the food truck doesn’t speak English so you either have to gesture or try and remember your pathetic highschool Spanish grammar!  🙂

Wow, this taco had everything on it! Don’t know if I remember melted mozzarella cheese in there, but there looks to be queso fresco in there instead. This monster had SO much flavor, but I will admit that it was greasy! It’s definitely worth a try though. It’s pretty big so 2 of them would make a large enough meal for me. Mmm!

It felt good to be back at the gym this morning. It’s Thursday and I really want it to be Friday! At least the weather is getting nicer. Hopefully it’ll be great for the weekend. Gotta plan dinner with the boys on Saturday. Papa Chang also recommend some Asian restaurants down in San Jose for Sunday – can’t wait!

This was delicious! I love the dark, rich flavor of beef tongue. It was super tender, juicy, and fatty – just the way I like it! They also pile on the meat and top it off with yummy toppings. Messy, but amazing!

Slept in this morning since I had to work til midnight last night. It’s ok that I skipped the gym since I did pushups in the sunroom anyway, lol! Hopefully I don’t have to work another 12 hour day today.

I know it’s only Wednesday, but I’m super excited about the weekend already. Having dinner with the boys going on the cruise on Saturday, then headed down to San Jose on Sunday. Not really excited about SJ itself, but I am happy to try out some new restaurants!

Omg, I walked into Papalote the other day and they now have multiple flavors of their amazing salsa! I grabbed the habanero flavor and it definitely had some heat to it. I wish it was a little spicier, but it was nice that it had some at least. It’s a limited edition flavor so I’m glad that I got to try it before they discontinue it. The jar didn’t last very long at my house – I can eat this stuff like soup!

This was the Taco of the Week. Omg, these were SO frickin’ good!!! I could have eaten 10 of these! The pork belly wasn’t overly fatty, but it was SO flavorful and tender. It’s a little bit pricey for a taco, but I’m gonna say it was worth it. Noms!

Very tasty! I love the textures in the this. The crispy deep fried leeks and the crispy tostada with the soft tuna and creamy avocado. Squeeze the lime on top to brighten it up and you have yourself a delicious meal.

The prickly pear ingredient intrigued us so we chose to order this flavor of chupito. It was pretty tasty and refreshing, but not very strong. You know me – I’m a drinker! I like the idea though of having multiple shots throughout the meal.

Now this was good! I loved the enchilada sauce. It was dark and rich and very mole tasting. The refried beans were also delicious as was the rice. I only order the single enchilada and I’m glad I did because you get a lot of food. It also came with a side salad and a corn tortilla. Add all you can eat chips and salsa and you’ve got a filling meal! Noms!
