Veal picatta – Briscola

Veal picatta - Briscola
Veal cutlets sauteed with white wine, capers, caper berries, lemon, parsley, served with spaghetti tossed with toasted garlic and olive oil. $19
Briscola, Reno NV

The veal was over-breaded and disgusting. For a veal picatta, this dish lacked acid which is surprising considering there are cpares, caper berries, lemon peels, and a citrus based sauced! Then how did the kitchen still accomplish to make it devoid of citrus flavor? The side noodles are a throw away since they lacked any flavor or life, and just take up space. Horrible service and horrible food!

House salad - Briscola

Lemon ricotta poptart – Knead Patisserie

Lemon ricotta poptart - Knead Patisserie
Lemon curd and house made ricotta cheese. $3
Knead Patisserie, San Francisco CA

Lemon ricotta poptart - Knead Patisserie
Great lemon flavor and the ricotta had such a soft and fluffy texture. The pastry shell was reminiscent of a pie crust. The whole thing was surprisingly filling considering its size. Delicious!

Coffee from Philz

Coffee from Philz. It’s next door to Knead Patisserie so it’s super convenient to grad a cup to go with any pastries your get. Philz is still my fave!

Assorted bundtinis – Nothing Bundt Cakes

Assorted bundtinis - Nothing Bundt Cakes
Red velvet, white chocolate raspberry, carrot, pumpkin, chocolate, and lemon.
Nothing Bundt Cakes, Emeryville CA

These mini bundt cakes are SO yummy! They’re super moist and the cream cheese frosting is sinfully good. I’m a sucker for red velvet and these even had mini chocolate chips in them, noms! I’d never heard of this place before but a co-worker brought a couple dozen to work. OMG, these are ruining my diet but I can’t stop eating them, ugh! LOL

Lemon poppy seed donut – Philz Coffee

Lemon poppy seed donut - Philz Coffee
Philz serves a variety of vegan organic donuts Pepples Donuts. $2.
Small mocha tesora coffee. $3
Philz Coffee, San Francisco CA

Pepples donuts are cakey and pretty much covered in glaze. While I enjoy that they’re vegan and organic, that thick sweet sugary glaze was just too much! Philz coffee is still my favorite. I swear there’s crack in it or something, lol!

Boudin blanc sausage – Pig and Pie

Boudin blanc sausage - Pig and Pie
Shallot confit, arugula, mayo, preserved lemon. $9
Pig & Pie, San Francisco CA

Mmm, this was VERY good! My one food critique would be that the sausage could have been seared a little more – it was difficult to tear through the skin. I also had to wait a REALLY long time for it, but I guess this was OK since it was yummy!

Lavendar starflower (Grewia occidentalis, Malvaceae)

Mmm, what a great way to start a dinner! I really liked the combination of sweet tea vodka and limoncello. It was sweet, tart, and totally snuck up on me, lol!

All Bar One, London ENGLAND

Ahhh, this was a nice and refreshing cocktail to have on a bright sunny day. We packed in a lot of sightseeing over the two full days we were in London so this cocktail was well deserved, lol!

London Bridge sign. This isn’t the prettiest bridge on the River Thames, but I guess I had to walk on it to check it off the list.

El Topo roll – SUSHISAMBA

El Topo roll - SUSHISAMBA
Salmon, jalapeno, shiso leaf, fresh melted mozzarella, crispy onion. $14
SUSHISAMBA, Las Vegas NV

El Topo roll - SUSHISAMBA
This was a fun sushi roll with lots of textures. I’ve never had a roll with melted fresh mozzarella before so that was different. It was warm and creamy and the fried onions gave it more flavor and crunch. I think the sauce was sriracha based and spicy. Very good!

Soy sauce - SUSHISAMBA
Soy sauce.

Hakata cocktail – SUSHISAMBA

Hakata cocktail - SUSHISAMBA

A Samba signature cocktail – Svedka clementine vodka, yuzu juice, simple syrup, grenadine, sugared rim, lemon slice. $12
SUSHISAMBA, Las Vegas NV

I liked the flavor of this cocktail and I thought that the chipped ice was fun, but there is WAY too much sugar on that rim! It made the drink way too sweet and difficult to taste anything else. Sweet lady bartender though!

Grilled local artichoke – Starbelly

Grilled local artichoke - Starbelly
With lemon aioli. Half $4
Starbelly, San Francisco CA

Simple, delicious! The lemon aioli was a wonderfully falvored, light accompaniment. I love artichokes even though they’re a lot of work to prepare and eat. I guess that’s why I tend to order them out, not cook them myself. Hehe!
