Served with whole pinto beans, salad, rice and tortillas. $10.95
Cancun Sabor Mexicano, Berkeley CA
Wow, that’s a lot of meat! It was a little on the tough side, but it certainly had plenty of flavor. And the salsa bar works wonders, hehe!

Seared sea scallops served on a bed of spinach noodles in a spicy galangal coconut green curry sauce. Toppped with green papaya, zucchini, and fried basil. $20
Zadin, San Francisco CA
This was a weird dish, and I’m not sure it was a successful one. The spinach noodles and green curry sauce didn’t taste amazing together, and the seared scallops just seemed like an afterthought.

Mr. Bluebird came to visit my balcony.
A few months ago, a work friend of mine had a beautiful wedding in the North Bay and a group of us work-peeps were able to attend and help celebrate the joyous occasion. It was a warm, sunny day and as the ceremony commenced the weather became more comfortably cool. The crowd was intimate (possibly a hundred people or so?) and the food was delicious! I’m not sure who they hired to cater the wedding, but everything was beautiful and tasty. They served drinks before the ceremony, passed hor d’oeuvres after the ceremony followed by a sit-down dinner. I appreciated that the ceremony and dinner were at the same location because it made the event really relaxed and you could just take time and enjoy everything. Needless to say, I had a wonderful time!
Here are some of the food pics I was able to snap when I wasn’t busy stuffing my face or drinking like a fish, lol!

Bacon, egg and frisee on a potato chip. This was scrumptious!

Fried chicken slider with red cabbage slaw and aioli. A juicy, flavorful bite!

Savory choux pastry filled with steak, pork, and chicken? Geez, my kinda hor d’oeuvre!

Prosciutto, fig jam and goat cheese canape. A yummy classic!

White wine. Fill ‘er up, hehe.

Dinner salad with red and golden beets, goat cheese and mixed greens.

Seared Sonoma duck breast and leg confit, braised savoy cabbage, roasted fingerling potatoes, and star anise glaze. SO nommy!

Sauteed mahi mahi with portobello mushroom, white corn, caramelized red onion, spinach and balsmaic beurre blanc. David had this options and it was very tasty too!

I think they sprinkled smoked paprika on top and there were red bell peppers mixed it too. Anyway, this dish was SO delicious! The slices of smoked octopus had SO much flavor and gave the dish a nice meaty quality. Noms!

Market Memories mural, Billy King, 2011, Pike Place Market.

Dusted with flour, lightly fried and seasoned with lemon, served with a lemon aioli. $7.95
Wipeout Bar and Grill, Greenbrae CA
We stopped by Wipeout to grab a snack and drinks before heading to an event. I wish we hadn’t. These calamari were horrible! They were super greasy, hard and over-fried. Ew! There were plenty of them, which made them more difficult to eat – lame.

Corn chips melted with jack cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, whole beans, grilled skinless chicken and jalapenos de la casa. $8.95
Cancun Sabor Mexicano, Berkeley CA
It may not be readily evident from this pic, but this nacho plate is pretty darn big! And delicous! They use organic meats and other amazing ingredients. I’m also very much in love with their salsa bar. They have plenty to choose from and you can keep going back for more!

Summer rolls. Steamed shrimp and pork, rice vermicelli, bean sprouts, red leaf lettuce, cilantro and mint wrapped in rice paper served with peanut sauce. $8.50
Zadin, San Francisco CA
Being the little piggy that I am, I enjoyed that these summer rolls came with both shrimp and pork inside! In gnereal, I’d also have to say that I was impressed with all their sauces. Go Zadin!

Marble stairs, US Customhouse, Battery Street.

“You can ants if you want to, you can leave your pants behind.” Laphroaig quarter cask, peach liqueur, lemon, amaro ciaciaro, maple, cayenne, pilsner. $10
15 Romolo, San Francisco CA
For those of you who aren’t familiar with San Francisco, the name of this cocktail is a play on a local variety stage show called Beach Blanket Babylon. All the ingredients sounded great, but I wasn’t too impressed. It tasted a bit bland to me. 😦

San Francisco Federal Building courtyard before sunrise, 7th Street. I was waiting for a bus way too early in the morning, lol!

Served with arugula and olive oil. Family style supper $46 per person

You would think that this much fat would feel gross in your mouth or taste gross – not true! This was frickin’ delicious and the texture was fabulous. SO much flavor!

I loved going to Cancun back when I was in graduate school! It’s super casual and the food is delicious. Hmm, I really need to get back to Berkeley more often.

Salt and pepper calamari. Calamari deep fried with a salt and pepper coating, sauteed with jalapenos and scallions. Served with a cilantro lime dipping sauce. $11
Zadin, San Francisco CA
Finally made it to this neighborhood restaurant, and I liked it! We had four people in our party so it was great to try a lot of different items. This dish was really tasty, but maybe a bit over-fried. I loved the jalapenos and the cilantro lime sauce was different and yummy.
