House cocktails – Jardiniere

Pamplemousse Apertivo - Jardiniere

Pamplemousse Apertivo: Pamplemousse, aperol, lemon, sparkling wine, graprefruit bitters. $12
Jardiniere, San Francisco CA

The house cocktails at Jardiniere were really well made and delicious. I think my favorite is between the Vieux Carre and the Pamplemousse Apertivo. They’re very different from each other, but both had distinct flavor profiles and went down way too easily. πŸ˜‰

Vieux Carre - Jardiniere
Vieux Carre: Rittenhouse rye, Carpano, ‘Antica Formula’ sweet vermouth, Pierre Ferrand cognac, Peychaud’s and Angostura bitters. $12

Lexington and Vieux Carre - Jardiniere

Lexington (background): Buffalo Trace bourbon, gran classico, Cardamaro, cinnamon bitters. $12

Soft scrambled eggs – Plow

Soft scrambled eggs - Plow
Oyster mushrooms, spinach, cheddar, 14 cherry tomatoes, goat cheese, crispy potatoes and toast. $14
Plow, San Francisco CA

Ugh, this scramble was pretty greasy! The soft scramble was executed correctly and the flavors were good, but I couldn’t get past the excessive oil. Also, I had forgotten that there was goat cheese until the very end when I uncovered the huge blob of it at the bottom. I wish it had been incorporated more evenly throughout.

Thanks goodness for those crispy potatoes – they were AMAZING! I could not stop eating them because they were SO flavorful and had the most perfect texture. I think when we go back, I’ll order and extra side of these delicious potatoes!

Balancoire scramble – Balancoire

Balancoire scramble - Balancoire
Seasonal veggies, andouille sausage, pepper jack cheese, potatoes, mixed greens. $12
Balancoire, San Francisco CA

I don’t know how this place is as a club, but as a restaurant it SUCKED! Yelp, you failed me on this one. The food was below marginal and the service was cringingly awkward. These scrambled eggs were super runny and overly cheesy. The potatoes were barely cooked and I think the salad had cheap bottled salad dressing on it. I did like the andouille sausage but even they were inconsistently charred and cooked. Boo!

Biscuits - Balancoire
Biscuits. Compimentary
Omg, these were literally jockey pucks. I’m not sure why they even bothered serving them because they felt and tasted like they were over a week old!

Carne asada nachos – The Little Chihuahua

Carne asada nachos - The Little Chihuahua
Hot corn tortilla chips topped with black beans, smoky chile salsa, jack cheese, guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. $10.95
The Little Chihuahua, San Francisco CA

This was delicious and super cheesy! The carne asada was very flavorful and I liked the smoky chile salsa than the others they have at their salsa bar. I’m also surprised how well the sour cream and guacamole withstood the car ride in the to-go container.

Corned beef hash – Plow

Corned beef hash - Plow
Yukon gold potatoes, onions, red peppers, whole grain mustard, two eggs and toast. $15
Plow, San Francisco CA

I was a little disappointed in this dish – it just seemed pedestrian especailly at fifteen bucks. Honestly, the best part of the dish was the bread when topped with jam.

Fried chicken – Eureka Restaurant and Lounge

Fried chicken - Eureka Restaurant and Lounge
With garlic mashed potatoes, collard greens, sweet potato-black eyed pea relish, and black pepper gravy. $18
Eureka Restaurant & Lounge, San Francisco CA

Fried chicken - Eureka Restaurant and Lounge
Mmm, this was pretty tasty. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and nice and juicy on the inside. I think the sweet potato relish wasn’t needed with the garlic mashed potatoes but I appreciated the different textures. I’m also glad that they served the gravy on the side because I would have eaten it all otherwise.

Bread and butter - Eureka Restaurant and Lounge
Bread and butter. Complimentary

Duck enmermelada tacos – Padrecito

Duck enmermelada tacos - Padrecito
Black beans, mixed chicories, arbol-strawberry marmalade and dry jack. $12
Padrecito, San Francisco CA

Omg, these tacos were SO delicious! All the ingredients were perfect and it was really pretty to look at. The marmalade and whiskey worked perfectly with the rich duck. I want more – NOMS!

Mimosas – Plow

Mimosas - Plow

With grapefruit juice. $8.50
With orange juice. $8
Plow, San Francisco CA

Yummy mimosas lead to a happy me! I’m kinda annoyed that they charge fifty cents extra for the grapefuit juice though especially since it isn’t listed on their menu.

Carne asada nachos – Eureka Restaurant and Lounge

Carne asada nachos - Eureka Restaurant and Lounge
With spicy slaw, bbq sauce, cilantro, pickled onions and ricotta salata. $7
Eureka Restaurant & Lounge, San Francisco CA

Wow, I was a bit shocked when this arrived to the table and there were only 4 tortilla chips on the plate, lol! But I have to say that they were really filling, and pretty tasty! I tend to overeat so I was secretly relieved that there was just enough to taste and enjoy. πŸ™‚
