Mimosa – Farley Bar

Mimosa - Farley Bar

Sparkling wine with fresh squeezed orange juice. $10
Farley Bar, Sausalito CA

We decided to have a quick Sonoma weekend trip and stopped to have brunch at Farley Bar on the drive up. The food and drinks were really good, but one of the waitresses spilled drinks for the table next to us and totally stained by white deck shoes. I was SO annoyed but decided not to let it ruin my experience. She apologized to the other table, but didn’t mention anything to me. RUDE!

Cocktail with Hendrick’s gin, elderflower cordial, lemon, soda and fresh cucumber. 5 O’Clocktails £4.25
All Bar One, London ENGLAND

Ahhh, this was a nice and refreshing cocktail to have on a bright sunny day. We packed in a lot of sightseeing over the two full days we were in London so this cocktail was well deserved, lol!

London Bridge sign. This isn’t the prettiest bridge on the River Thames, but I guess I had to walk on it to check it off the list.

We had been walking all day, so we really needed a drink break! This was a cute and clean bar/restaurant on our way to one of the shopping districts. We sat outside and enjoyed the warm sunshine.

Dublin coddle – The Bachelor Inn

Dublin coddle - The Bachelor Inn
A traditional Irish dish of pork sausage, bacon, potato, onion, and parsley served with batch bread. €8.95
The Bachelor Inn, Dublin IRELAND

Dublin coddle - The Bachelor Inn
Mmm, this was a simple stew-like dish and VERY flavorful. I actually really liked the batch bread! It’s super light and airy and they lather it with plenty of butter. The Bachelor Inn is a cute place along the River Liffey walkway and the service was excellent (and good looking too)! We all recognized that out waiter was a diamond among the not-so attractive local population, lol! Would definitely recommend dropping in for a pint or some vittles!

“The Prick with a Stick” James Joyce statue, North Earl Street. This statue is along the shopping corridor in north Dublin, not too far from where we were staying. There’s plenty of shops and excellent people watching, lol!

Sweet tea brined NC chicken wings – The Bar at Husk

Untitled
With a smoked jalapeno and charred cilantro glaze, topped with chopped peanuts and green onions. $8
The Bar at Husk, Charleston SC

Untitled
Ugh, such a disappointment! These wings had the crap fried out of them. They were SO dry that you really couldn’t taste much of the glaze. I can’t believe they actually sent this out!

United States Custom House. This large building looks a little out of place among the small businesses along East Bay Street and Market Street, but it looks pretty cool.

Husk fried kielbasa – The Bar at Husk

Husk fried kielbasa - The Bar at Husk
With a pickled egg, charred pepper relish and beer mustard. $8

Husk fried kielbasa - The Bar at Husk
A pretty simple dish, but all the components were delicious! The kielbasa had a great smoky flavor and was nice and fatty. I loved the pickled egg and relish, they added some acidity to help cut the fat. I’m not a big mustard fan, but the beer mustard tasted great too.

Cocktails – The Bar at Husk

Swizzle cocktail - The Bar at Husk

Swizzle – The drink of choice at the world’s first cocktail party in London circa 1924. Cruzan light rum falernum, lime juice, and bitters “swizzled” over hand chipped ice. $8

Lil' Bit cocktail - The Bar at Husk

Lil’ Bit – A lil’ of this and a lil’ of that go a long way. Johnny Drum bourbon, Jack Rudy, orange juice, grapefruit bitters, lemon and lime. $13
The Bar at Husk, Charleston SC

The Swizzle was OK. I wasn’t crazy about the taste and was SO disappointed that the “chipped ice” became full on ice cubes. I’ve never had a swizzle cocktail that didn’t have at least crushed ice. I liked the Lil’ Bit cocktail better. It had a bolder flavor and went down smoothly.

The Laphroaig Project cocktail – Rickhouse

The Laphroaig Project Rickhouse

Green and yellow chartreuse, Luxardo maraschino, Laphroaig Quarter Cask whiskey, fresh lemon juice and peach bitters. $10
Rickhouse, San Francisco

“A tropical and light cocktail featuring a peaty single-malt? Balderdash, you say? We insist that you reserve judgment before you arrive to such hasty conclusions, good sir. Lest you tragically deny yourself that rare and elusive pleasure that is both delightfully intellectual and wickedly visceral. Godspeed!”

Rickhouse uses large ice cubes – love that! This drink was absolutely delicious and true to it’s menu description, tropical and light. Noms! I had some preconceived notions about Rickhouse before I went. I figured that since it was a nicer bar in the middle of the Financial District, that it would be full of douche-y guys drinking early to avoid their lame corporate jobs. Not true! The place is tastefully decorated inside and the bartender was super friendly and inviting. The guys sitting at the bar were chill and at least didn’t give off much of a douche-y vibe. I’d go back and try more of their intricate cocktails. The bartenders must be good to execute such involved recipes.

The Laphroaig Project Rickhouse

Did I mention I love large ice cubes?! Hehe.

Cape cod cocktails – Downtown Tiki Lounge

Cape cod cocktails Downtown Tiki Lounge

Well vodka with cranberry juice and a lime wedge. $4 for happy hour
Downtown Tiki Lounge, San Mateo CA

This is a pretty chill place with great happy hour drink and appetizer specials.  The tiki vibe is adequate with all the fake palm trees, bamboo trim, and  tiki statues scattered throughout. Only ducked in for a quick drink while waiting for friend, but this place would be a great after work hang out!

The Hazlewood & The Bloody Dog – Hazlewood

The Hazlewood The Bloody Dog
Have I mentioned that I love cocktails?  Lol!  There was a time when greyhounds were my cocktail of choice, so I was happy when I discovered that Hazlewood served a Bloody Dog on their specialty cocktail menu.  You simply can’t go wrong with vodka and grapefruit juice, yeah!
Hazlewood, Seattle

Chocolate truffle Hazlewood
Apparently, when you order The Hazlewood cocktail you also get a chocolate truffle and a Nat Sherman!  I can’t say that I’ve ever seen this before, but it’s a delicious treat to go along with a a delicious cocktail.
