Bloody mary – Hula’s Bar & Lei Stand

Bloody mary - Hula's Bar & Lei Stand

Happy hour $5
Hula’s Bar and Lei Stand, Honolulu HI

Hula’s is a pretty low key bar situated near Waikiki Beach. It’s a great place to relax during the day and they have great happy hour prices – heck yeah! At night, it gets super busy but I’m usually buzzed by then and back at the hotel sleeping. 🙂

I hate morning flights, but I do love getting free snacks and drinks at the Red Carpet Club. And few cocktails are always a great idea before boarding a long flight, lol!

Brunch cocktails – Twenty Five Lusk

S.F. Yacht Club cocktail - Twenty Five Lusk

S.F. Yacht Club: vodka, grapefruit, cucumber, lemon, lime, mint. Gilt City brunch menu
Twenty Five Lusk, San Francisco CA

I thought this cocktail would be more refreshing and would knock my socks off, but it didn’t. It was pretty to look at, but fell flat in the taste department which is surprising considering the great combination of ingredients.

Lusk Bloody Mary - Twenty Five Lusk

Lusk Bloody Mary: vodka, roasted tomatoes, lemon, roasted garlic, thai chili paste, aged balsamic vinegar.

Mmm, this bloddy mary delicious! I sometimes buy the daily deal certificates for restaurants I haven’t tried, and I have to say that I was really impressed with this Gilt buy for Twentry Five Lusk. We had a great time, the food was delicious (for the most part), and the service was friendly and professional. I’d definitely got back for more!

Bloody mary – Circa 59

Bloody mary - Circa 59

Standard bloody mary. $7
Circa 59, Palm Springs CA

Circa 59 is the restaurant at the popular Riviera Resort Palm Springs and I gotta say, that for a nicer venue, this placed sucked! The service was horrendous and the food (posts to come) was disgusting and simply a slap in the face. Places that keep their business solely on popularity are just sad. I’m not sure how they maintain guests with such horrible service and food! It took forever to get water, order, receive our first drinks, get our food, have it cleared, get our check, pay for brunch, etc! I think our brunch took 3 hours because nobody seemed to be working. What a joke!

Black and blue mojito – Eureka Restaurant and Lounge

Black and blue mojito - Eureka Restaurant and Lounge

Smirnoff blueberry vodka, muddled blackberries, mint, lime and soda. $12
Eureka Restaurant & Lounge, San Francisco CA

I like the idea of this cocktail, but it was a bit too sour for me. If they had used sweet, naturally ripe blackberries, I bet this would have kicked ass!

Barbie car
We were walking in the Mission one night on our way to a comedy show and spotted this random car decorated and covered all in Barbie dolls. Everyone was checking it out and I couldn’t help but snap a couple pics with my iPhone.

Cape cod cocktail – Lone Palm

Cape cod cocktail - Lone Palm

Vodka with soda and a splash of cranberry juice.
Lone Palm, San Francisco CA

This place has got to be one of the most random neighborhood bars I’ve ever been to, and that’s a good thing! There’s a single palm tree in front of it, and the interior is decorated in a cheesy (awesome) art deco style. Seems like a perfect bar to me!

Bloody mary cocktails – Foreign Cinema

Sunday bloody caesar cocktail - Foreign Cinema

Sunday bloody caesar cocktail – House-made clamato, fresh lime, Worcestershire and house-infused jalapeno vodka, flavorful yet lighter than the cousin Mary! $10
Foreign Cinema, San Francisco CA

Persian bloody mary - Foreign Cinema

Persian bloody mary – An exotic blend of lime, south Indian curry, sumac, and sherry vinegar and vodka. $10

I really enjoyed both of these bloody mary’s. The first one definitely had more of the traditional flavors and the Persian one took a few sips to get into, but I really enjoy its inventive flavor combination for a bloody mary. The sumac salt was also really pretty and the pickled fennel was a great addition.
