Meatball and polenta – Farmers Fishers Bakers

Meatball and polenta - Farmers Fishers Bakers
Artichoke dip, guacamole, tortilla chips, flatbread. Brunch buffet $29.99
Farmers Fishers Bakers, Washington DC

This probably looks like the most random plate them all, but these were some of the things I hadn’t tried yet. (Except for the artichoke dip which I had to get seconds of!) The meatball and polenta were great! I loved the creaminess of the polenta although it could have used a bit more salt.

Eggs Louis “cayenne” – Rick’s Cafe

Eggs Louis cayenne - Rick's Cafe
2 poached eggs, crab meat, spinach, English muffins, homemade “cayenne” hollandaise sauce, served with potatoes and fruit. $14.99
Rick’s Cafe, Los Altos CA

This was good, but nothing really jumped out at me. I did like that they provided a lot of spinach. The potatoes (and fruit) were kinda sad though. And even the “cayenne” hollandaise sauce was lackluster.

Wasabi crunch roll – Pei Wei Asian Diner

Wasabi crunch roll - Pei Wei Asian Diner
Spicy tuna roll topped with tempura flakes and crushed wasabi peas, sweet teriyaki sauce, wasabi aioli. 4 pieces $4.29
Pei Wei Asian Diner, Sterling VA

This was pretty good for a chain restaurant’s version of Americanized sushi. I did like the flavors although the sushi rice had a weird consistency. Douse it in enough sauce and forget about the finer details, lol!

Warm bread salad – Jardiniere

Warm bread salad - Jardiniere
Farmanova beet, arugula, crescenza. $16
Jardiniere, San Francisco CA

I liked this salad enough, but it was more of a leafy green salad with some bread thrown in than an actual bread salad. I liked the flavors, but I felt a little misled from the menu description. Definitely wouldn’t be on my list of things I have to try before I die.

Beer battered fish and chips – Gordon Biersch

Beer battered fish and chips - Gordon Biersch
Breaded with panko crumbs, served with malt vinegar, tartar sauce, and signature garlic fries. $17.99
Gordon Biersch, San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

This plate was absolutely disgusting! The fist was so thickly battered (where was the panko breading btw?) and super greasy! I couldn’t even eat it. Even the fries, which were definitely cooked in the same horrible oil were hard and just tasted of grease. I want to barf just thinking of this atrocity!!

Smoked salmon rolls – Vino Volo

Braised veal cheeks - Jasper's Corner Tap and Kitchen
Smoked salmon served with succulent crabmeat and crispy crostini. $11
Vino Volo, Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

This were such a disappointment. The crostini were so small, dry, and crumbly that they had to chance to stand against any toppings. Also, the mixed crab spread was mush and disgusting as was the old smoked salmon.

Fried chicken and carnitas taco – Farmers Fishers Bakers

Fried chicken and carnitas taco - Farmers Fishers Bakers
Baked ham (ends), artichoke dip, tortilla chips. Brunch buffet $29.99
Farmers Fishers Bakers, Washington DC

I admit this is a random plate, but everything looked so good! This is why I’m dangerous at buffets, I just grab everything a once. Lol! I pretty much liked everything on the plate and quickly devoured it.
